PDF Copies of Old Oneness PUblications

Below is a link to a church website that offers several years worth of issues of the "Pentecostal Outlook" magazine of the PAJC and then after the merger the early issues of the "Pentecostal Herald".

Check out the last issue of the Pentecostal Outlook as it announces the merger that was the birth of the UPC.

Re: PDF Copies of Old Oneness PUblications

I am reading an article in the September 1945 issue by Witherspoon on women cutting their hair and he makes an interesting judgement/prediction, here it is verbatim...

Bobbed Hanging Hair-A Curse

...There is a peculiar curse coming upon women some of these days...you may think it is a little far fetched, but what I have preached this evening is the Word of God...this peculiar curse will be BALDNESS for women...

Yes, a disease of baldness will break out upon women who forget that God has given them hair for their glory and covering. Here it is...Isiah 3:24

"And it shall come to pass instead of sweet smell there shall be stink and instead of well SET hair, BALDNESS"!!

That was not just a mistake Isiah made here, God warns again of this plague that is coming...

I am not sure this actually has come to pass. The whole article is interesting, most of it is what we are hearing today, however it has a tone to it I can't quite put my finger on without it sounding condescending. Simple minded?

Hmmm.

Thanks CC1, I could spend hours reading this stuff!

I noticed that too and had a good chuckle, now even more now that I have read a few of these articles...

I do find this interesting. I can remember as a teenager we had a lady work for us that was going bald and how strange it seemed to be.
Today you go to a nursing home and look at how many older ladies that are going bald.
Correlation? I don't know, but it is interesting.

Wow!

The article that bro. A.D. Urshan wrote in the La. Challenger in 1964 will blow your socks off.

He said that men who wear shorts out in public are feminine even though they think that they are he-men. He wrote much more about it.

Other Apostolics today would disagree by their actions of wearing them in public.

Wonder who is right?

I am going to read the whole third chapter of Isaiah, it looks interesting to me. It also talks about children being the oppressor and women ruling.

Well, some might do well to shave their legs.:tease
I don't think there is anything feminine about hairy legs.:aaa

Wow! Wish there would have been some more from around the late 60's and early 70's! Those would have made some interesting reads!

This concept isn't interesting, it is downright silly. What, since 1945 women all of the sudden have been going bald for no good reason because they cut their hair? Hardly a plague.

Thinning hair for both sexes is common due to hormonal and nutritional changes. Rarely will you see a woman or a man in their elder years with a full, thick head of hair when they might have had one just 20 years earlier.

It's just as silly as suggesting that men who wear short sleeves will lose muscle tone and it will plague the nation. Why, just look at the people in the nursing homes! Ever see a man with bulging muscles there?

See? Proves my point....LOL!

Actually I think it has more to with all the dyes and chemicals they put on their hair.

True, but there is a difference between thinning and going bald.

Hey you are the one who pointed out they were going bald relative to Brother Witherspoon's curse.

Having access to these old Oneness PUblications has made me wish that the United Pentecostal Church would publish it's archived Oneness Publications online for research, etc.

What exactly is "interesting?' The fact that old ladies go bald just like old men? Did you ever visit a nursing home in the Victorian era? Guess what? Bald old ladies back then too. The fact that Brother Witherspoon was "seeing" some sort of corellation between women who would naturally lose their hair and Isaiah 3 is evidence in and of itself that the "Uncut Hair" doctrine was a novelty in 1945.

One of the "blessings" of a longer life is that increasing numbers of people get to "enjoy" the effects of aging for longer periods of time.

Brother Witherspoon was a great guy, but he really missed it on this one. Simply reading the Book of Isaiah for what it has to say of itself... you will get to Isaiah 22:12 - check out what the Bible says... (click the link!)

Did you notice what context does to help our understanding of the Word of God? "In that day..." When God's judgment is poured out people will despoil their persons in sack cloth, ashes and ... baldness. They will make themselves bald as a sign of mourning.

Now, since we have this Biblical precedent I have a question for the so-called Apostolics on the board: Why don't our pastors require our women to shave their heads when a member of their family dies?

You must bust up laughing at those bald women in the cancer wing of the hospital. "Shouldn't have used the Clairol stuff, girls!" Boy, that cracks me up too. It is right and just that God Almighty has smitten those Jezebels with cancer and baldness - even though science can find no correlation between modern hair dyes and.

Still, I like to go to the hospital and point at people and laugh. "Heh! Where's your faith... you wouldn't be here if you didn't paint your face and cut your hair...!!!" That really brightens my day - and it helps me to understand that my salvation is greater than theirs and so God must like me better than He likes them.

You are a sick man. No where did I mention anything about cancer. That is an entirely different situation, and for you to stoop to such LOW blows to try to win an argument is disgusting.
