War in Georgia

With all this going on in Georgia, the Georgians and Russians fighting, bombing, etc, has anyone heard from Atlanta Bishop? Is he OK? Is he involved in any of this or affected by it? Is his church OK? or folks from his church?

This is serious stuff. Civilians are being targeted and massacred by the Russians.

I know that no one will believe me....but I'll go on record here. I predict that Bush will issue verbal condemnation of the Russia's actions until they decimate Georgia and secure control of the oil pipeline.

Nah, its all a rumor folks. I was just in Georgia a little while ago... and there is no war. A little spat maybe...but no war. I will be there tomorrow too. Will report if there are any skirmishes in that area.

Nah, we don't need no war to whup them Yankees. Just give 'em a plate of hog jowl, turnip greens and grits. They go a-runnin' back across the border!

I think it's very interesting that this is happening right now. America has had troops in Georgia conducting "training missions" with the Georgian troops for several months before this.

Maybe Russia is sending a subconscious message to the other former USSR republics-- warning them of the consequences of developing military ties with America.

Maybe we can facilitate the preoccupation of the Russians with stuff happening in their own backyard to keep them from contributing too much aid to Iran while we facilitate Israel's engagement of Iran.

All of this while China is hosting the Olympics too. The timing of all of this is interesting to me, puzzling.

Thousands of people are dying. Would it be so light and cute if it were here? Your Fathers and Mothers. Your wives and Children? Could be coming soon to a town near you.

Of course, if Bush launched some sort of intervention you might then predict that Bush wants to control the pipeline himself and for his "Big Oil" cronies.

Bush is damned if he does, and damned if he don't. Of course, I predict that a full NATO intervention would lead to a nuke going off somewhere. So what do you suggest?

This war started in the 1700's and "South Ossetia" and "Abkhazia" have suspiciously large Russian populations and suspiciously small populations of Ossetians and Abkhazians. I wonder what happened to all those "indingenous" people and why so many Russians are so far from home.
