I like

Hot Dogs. I like'em covered in onions and mustard. sometimes I will get a wild hair and add some sour kraut to the mix too!

Grits. Grits is good. I mean really! Just don't put sugar on them. Grits and eggs, grits and cheese, grits and shrimp. Man I do love grits.

Salad with dried onions and bacon bits. I know its weird to say that's something you like but I really do.

Gravy. My dad will tell you that I can look at a field of rice and tell you how many buckets of gravy it would take to cover it. I really do like gravy.

What do you like?

Oh LORD Yes!!!! Mustard and Onions the perfect combination!

I like biscuits and gravy, but not sausage gravy as much as gravy made with drippings from SMOKED bacon! And the trick is to BROWN the flour real good in the drippings before you add the milk. A lot of people don't BROWN the flour and it just isnt the same....

Lets see what else, Well Mustard and onions on hamburgers too, but that goes without saying.

Chinese food! Cant get enough of it....
TOSTADAS! With shredded chicken and sour cream and REAL tortillas fried fresh not that junk that comes already hard from the store...

Chocolate mint ice cream

Venison and Duck..... I made venison tostadas one time kind of exotic but nice.

Don't like hot dogs, but when I eat them rarely I have to smother them with chili and cheese.

Grits. Grits is good. I mean really! Just don't put sugar on them. Grits and eggs, grits and cheese, grits and shrimp. Man I do love grits.

Got to have sugar, butter and cream on my grits!

Oh you POOR KID!!!!!! You really haven't even LIVED yet!

The first time I ever had chocolate gravy was years ago up in the Sierra Nevada Mountains at old Brother Lon and Sister Minnie McDaniels house!

Chocolate gravy is the consistency of the gravy that comes with bisucits and gravy but it is CHOCOLATE! Kind of like a thinner chocolate pudding, and believe it or not I have a recipe from Brother Francis in Lodis mom sitting right next to me on my book case!

Here it is...
2 cups of milk
2/3 cup of sugar
1/3 cup of flour
1 rounded tablespoon of cocoa
dash of salt
cook until it comes to a boil

add
1/3 stick of butter and 1 teaspoon of vanilla

and voila you has CHOCOLATE Gravy, serve it with homemade biscuits and your family will go nuts!

(No really NUTS! They will be swingin on the chandeleiers and doin cart wheels on the front lawn, all kinds of stuff!!!!!!)

MY SUGGESTION... you might after one or two times start experimenting...add a little cinnamon, a little butter rum extract, you know play around with it!

We make it with a roux, just like regular gravy. But it needs to be a clean roux, from veg. oil. But pretty much like yours other than that.

Sherri, you and I could go out to eat together anytime! These are all my favorites, too.

What I really love is to take a warm chocolate brownie, put a generous scoop of butter pecan ice cream on top of that, then smother it in homemade hot fudge sauce and sprinkle generously with chopped pecans. Mmmmmmmm

If I have to have "real" food, I love
Chimichangas
queso dip and chips (the white cheese kind, please!)
corn on the cob in season roasted on the grill in the husks, then smothered in butter and salted heavily.
strawberries! Anytime, anywhere, any way!
Oatmeal with butter and sugar (no milk, thank you very much)
Did I mention that I'm a big fan of butter?
tacos
Do you also get the impression that Mexican food is my favorite?

Actually, it would be easier to say what I DON"T like than to say what I love. I hate potatoes, peas, beans and milk.

From Wikpedia

Wasabi is generally sold either in the form of a root (real wasabi), which must be very finely grated before use, or as a ready-to-use paste (horseradish, mustard and food coloring), usually in tubes approximately the size and shape of travel toothpaste tubes. Once the paste is prepared it should remain covered until served to protect the flavor from evaporation. For this reason, sushi chefs usually put the wasabi between the fish and the rice.

Fresh leaves of wasabi can also be eaten and have some of the hot flavor of wasabi roots. They can be eaten as wasabi salad by pickling overnight with a salt-and-vinegar-based dressing, or by quickly boiling them with a little soy sauce. Additionally, the leaves can be battered and deep-fried into chips.

The burning sensations it can induce are short-lived compared to the effects of chili peppers, especially when water is used to remove the spicy flavor.

Wasabi is often served with sushi or sashimi, usually accompanied with soy sauce. The two are sometimes mixed to form a single dipping sauce known as Wasabi-joyu. Legumes (or peas) may be roasted or fried, then coated with a wasabi-like mixture (usually an imitation); these are then eaten as an eye-watering "in the hand" snack.

Wasabi ice cream is a recent but increasingly popular innovation.

Hoovie 08-18-2008 08:15 PM

Re: I like

I like the fresh wasabi sauce found in upscale Japaneese or Chineese joints.

I also enjoy wasabi peas - dried peas with wasabi covered seasoning.
