"Temple of Obama"

DENVER - Democrats will kneel before the "Temple of Obama" tonight.

As if a Rocky Mountain coronation were not lofty enough, Barack Obama will aim for Mount Olympus when he accepts his party's nomination atop an enormous, Greek-columned stage - built by the same cheesy set team that put together Britney Spears' last tour.

Re: "Temple of Obama"

I read a thread on another forum yesterday and they were talking about a panel on the stage will rise out of the floor with him standing on it. They were saying that it reminded them of the Left Behind series where Nicolae Carpathia (sp?) did that when he made his appearance in the book series as the antichrist.

*Disclaimer- I am not saying Obama is the antichrist. :D

I hadn't heard that. Good greif. Rock star or President? Is none of the above an option?

Re: "Temple of Obama"

I heard on the news today that this stadium event was planned before the Berlin speech and because of the negative response to that some of his planners are now wishing they had stuck with the normal acceptance speech at the convention venue.

The elaborate set is very impressive but not going to help answer the accusation that Obama is a product of celebrity and not experience.

The bottom line is that I think the independents that will decide the election like Obama and are impressed by his oratorial skills but at the end of the day are going to worry enough about the thin resume to reject him. I hope I am right!

i hope it backfires, but I still say this is our next president.

I think it is interesting that he has flat lined, no bump with the Biden pick or the convention so far.

When I first heard of the stage design, I was stunned! :jaw
Does not anyone (Democrates) see this? Do you not see what is happening?
Maybe I am way out of line, I apologise. We do live in a nation of having the freedom to choose. And I would not have it any other way. Maybe I'm over reacting.... Iam a menopausal woman with not 1, not 2 but I heard 4 more disturbances in the Atlantic....and ya know how us women can be when we get distrubed! LOL:tease

All I can think of at the moment is a scripture; Luke 11:17 "Any kingdom divided against itself will fall." quoted by Jesus.

Our nation (aka kingdom) is now divided. All I can say is , we need to pray.:praying

Gallop is showing about a 4 point bump from last night and Rassmussen is showing about a 1 or 2 point bump.

last time around kerry got 0 but bush only got 4.

conventional wisdom now suggests these bumps might not be what they once were.

I am predicting that after Obama's speech tonight he will get a bump to an average of an 8 point lead but that by the end of the Republican convention they will be pretty much dead even again.

I disagree. I think this speech will backfire on him. I believe that he will get so pumped up by the crowd that his arrogance will take over and be a complete turn off to people.

It seems Obama doesn't do so well off script, he will stay on point.

wishfull thinking. Obama knows what to do with a crowd. the backfair only comes if people are turned off by the rockstar deal.
but he is spinning this well. I dont think that will happen

Re: "Temple of Obama"

Well, this Independent is not voting Obama. I don't want an Obamination! Personally, I think it will be a toss up until election night. Unless McCain does something REALLY smart or Obama/Biden does something REALLY stoopid, I think it will be too tight to call until election night. And if it IS a really tight election, you can bet the Dems will already have their bank of lawyers poised to pounce on the system. I sincerely hope this election does NOT end up in the hands of the courts! :D

From what I've seen, he's dependant on a teleprompter to give a speech. So if he is using one tonight, I hope it goes on the fritz and people get to see him stumble around and try to think of what he is supposed to say.

Re: "Temple of Obama"

Interesting comment concerning the Democrats worrying about Obama speaking at Mile High Stadium.

A common concern: that the stadium appearance plays against Obama's convention goal of lowering his star wattage and connecting with average Americans and gives Republicans a chance to drive home their message that the Democratic nominee is a narcissistic celebrity candidate.

"We already know he is a rock star; we already know he can bring 85,000 people together in a stadium. He has done it multiple times. He needs to talk to people who haven't made up their minds yet," said Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen.

Re: "Temple of Obama"

They are calling it "Barackopolis." That is so funny!!! Obama has more of a rock star status than a presidential candidate. Can't wait for all this to be over!!!

SDAZ, I hope to the hightest peak in heaven that Barak Obama falls short and John McCain becomes the next President of the United States.

I will be voting for JM, I will likely find some pennies to send to him, and i am even (for the first time) considering volenteering with the Republican Party.

That being said, HISTORY says this election is the democrats race to lose.

How about you join with me and pray I am wrong?
