Shelly Hedricks developed a video a while back titled I belive, How to Receive the Holy Ghost. I thought and still do think the idea was a little silly despite having some good information in it. I think it would have been better training for altar workers instead of, "...and when you get the Holy Ghost..." It seemed he was giving directions on how to buy property with no money down!

:D

I don't know much about him, personally, only having met him briefly a couple times. He didn't seem overly friendly, but I'm guessing that he's just a little backward socially. I'm like that also at times.

I do know the Sizemore family very well, though. Old Bro. Sizemore's daughter, Celecia and her husband are good friends and I have nothing but love for Sis. Jackie Sizemore. She's one awesome lady.

There are a lot of great people at that church. Enjoy your visit!

Re: Shelly & Trona Hendricks-any info??

I have met him twice... he was not a bad person... just not too friendly as stated here before.... he has a heart for the lost indeed... I think he is just used to being a very quiet person and it comes across as being rude or stuck up... If I remember right he was just a small time preacher who was suddenly thrown into a big evangelism ministry and I think he did very well with that... considering he really was a quiet loner type person is what he seemed... thats just my personal take of what I know and heard of him... I may be totally wrong but its mostly just impression..

I was once told though that because of the type of ministry he had that he preferred not to get to know people where he was or who he was visiting with so I dunno...

We went to the church pastored by Bro. Joe David Sizemore from some time in the 1963/64 time period until we left in 1978. I visited Bro. Sizemore when he was in the hospital not too long before he went to his reward. I may not agree with everything Bro. Sizemore preached but I have the highest respect for him. His son David is a very good man. Last I know David was pastoring in Florida. His Mom, Sis. Sizemore is in Florida. The Sizemore family are good folks.

I have not been to the church since Bro. Hendricks is pastoring. I really don't know anything about him.

We have to realize we are all different…no one does everything alike.

The Hendricks are dear friends of mine. They are wonderful people that take ministry and the work of God very serious.

Shelly is very outreach minded and is always working to bring people into the church.

Covenant Church has grown and is doing well under his leadership.

I don't remember if Trona went by her legal name or if she went by her stepfathers name (Markham), in fact, Dave may have legally adopted her, I can't remember. Trona is my daughters cousin, and yes Shelly is very quiet one on one, it is definitely his personality.

I know Shelley and took classes with him at JCM. Yeah, he may come across as quiet and have a serious countenance but don't let that fool you. He has a great sense of humor and knows how to pull a good prank. Umm....I guess the first prank was when he was dating a first semester student (Trona) (TOTALLY against the rules at JCM to date in the first semester) and then TLC noting that when announcing their engagement. Haha! Also, after the old faculty was gone and the new faculty was in for that first difficult year (81-82), Shelley preached a fantastic sermon and got the whole church rocking and rolling! Later he told me that he preached from the notes of one of the faculty members that was ousted....haha!

Grey Sneaker,

Was he at JCM the 1979-80 school year? I am trying to remember if I know him.

He needs a song written for him like Johnny Cash's song "A Boy Named Sue".

If this guy is as quiet as everyone says it may not be because he was shy but because he was probably teased about having a girls name all through elementary, middle, and High School !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am find his wife's name interesting. I have never heard of the name "Trona" before. I shudder to think what they have named their children.

Their oldest son is Landon and I think their second son is Luke.

I can't remember their daughter who is probably only about 4 maybe 5 years old. Landon is out of HS.

Trona was named after a small town in CA, her parents just liked the way it sounded. Their children have fairly normal names.

I think he is but I don't remember seeing him the last time I was in town. But he was probably with the teenagers and they meet elsewhere. He is a very good young man and seems really grounded well. His parents did a fine job with him, IMO. :) (Hope I didn't just jinx them) :tease

He seems to be a good kid. He is about a year younger than my daughter, I think, she was there last summer and got to see him.

SH was a freshman in 78-79 - the year after I graduated so you would have gone to school with him.

That reminds me of the old pledge to "not contend for our views to the disunity of the body."

Or maybe just keeping your mouth shut when it is in your best interest.

Ruby Martin was from Idaho and like C. H. Yadon, who mentored Don Fisher - a disciple of Harry Morse. Harry Morse was a noted "PCI" man.

Ruby Martin survived the purge and was revered by Craft and others as a great Bible teacher.

She simply stuck with the basics and kept her mouth shut, which was probably wise.

I will eat my hat if, with her background, Ruby Martin believed you had to speak in tongues to be saved.
