McCain's Speech Tonight!

What must McCain say in his speech tonight to appeal to the moderates and swing voters?

In my opinion, he must distinctly distance himself from George W. Bush! He must show the American people how his administration will change the way things are now run, and have a different agenda.

I wonder if he can pull this off!

I think he will, because he knows he has no other choice!

I think that in "W" speech he helped that along. He talked about how McCain did not see eye to eye with him on many things. The crowd even laughed out loud when "W" said it. So that kinda seemed to be an obvious push the help McCain and "W" be seperate.

I agree with PM and I believe he will need to spell out a few things he plans to change.

Re: McCain's Speech Tonight!

He has already distanced himself from the Bush Administration. It's a done deal.

He needs to discuss his plans for Immigration, Health Care, Education, the Economy and all the things at the heart of America. We want to hear what he plans to do.

I listened to Palin's speech a little while ago - again. lol I noticed that at the beginning when she mentioned John McCain she didn't get a huge, thunderous applause, BUT when she was finished presenting herself she got it.

The people felt more defined and settled. Tonight he will do what he wants and needs to do. In his heart America is who he is.

McCain/Palin '08

I will also note that at one point when she said something about Obama dividing the water and healing the planet the audience wasn't as pleased. At that point, she showed that she can be mean and snitty. I saw that side of her today and didn't notice it last night. She's great, don't get me wrong.

As the emotions ebb, objectivity begins to rear its ugly head. :) I've been trying to say that she ran the risk of coming across that way to people who were objective from day one and that she could have presented herself as above that.

She will do fine. She is just learning how far she can push. We all do that here, don't we? :D

Overall, her speech was something to get emotional about, IMO. :D

LOL! I did notice, like as in church, they were listening intently and then would respond. On that one occasion, I felt they didn't want to go that far with her.

We don't like when women get snitty, do we? And Renda says, "Amen, girl. I know exactly what you mean." LOL

I wonder how the TelePrompTer is going to work for McCain tonight :D

They are saying he would be better off the cuff anyway.

I really have a hard time thinking they didn't want to agree with her - these guys cut each other down all the time. I honestly think they were trying to figure out what she was talking about - splitting the waters.

What's bad though, they would say what she said is snitty, but accept it from a guy.

Oh, I didnt think it was that bad but you may have a point, others may not have like it.-I agree though, I dont think people like it when women get "snitty".

There will always be a double standard. A woman can not get away with what a man can.

She has to do it with a velvet glove- (I dont know it rather makes me gag to think we have to be a Mary Poppins)

If you listen to it again, you might think otherwise. Could have just been me, but I felt that way the second time I looked at it.

Well, I'm not sure that's all that bad. I like the line drawn that women can't walk on the same side of the road as the men in all aspects. I emphasis the "all" here.

KWIM?

Looking forward to tonight and glad that Pianoman started this thread as we will want to come back later tonight and blog here!!! LOL

A spoon full of sugar!

There is a fine line a woman has to walk for her to accepted in arena that Palin is walking in.

I guess, having to fake it sometimes gives me the gag factor.

I found it in the written speech. It was right after "those styrofoam greek columns are hauled back to some studio lot - what exactly is our opponent's plan? What does he actually seek to accomplish, after he's done turning back the waters and healing the planet? The answer is to make government bigger....."

I know they LOVED the styrofoam greek columns statement - - that was GREAT!!!!

Yes, I did like that, but her tone of voice was different on the other. You'll see what I mean later when you listen to it. I'd be interested to hear your take on that.

Printed out it's 7 pages - - I'm still amazed that she kept on even though the teleprompter messed up!

Just think of it as a game or a part in a play. It can make it fun, especially when you act like you care. :D

You can sing the song on the Cinderella musical:

I can be whatever I want to be

Believe me I understand this, and have to live it-

I just keep hearing remarks about how lady like she is ect. But we dont say that about the men? How how manly he is ect.

It's funny how this double standard thing really plays out without us even realize it-

How we even link her likability to her femininity instead of her work ethic-

Yes, I understand what you are saying. Men have always gotten away with "score points" and no one bats an eye, but if a woman........

I think if she didn't keep a lady like way about her in office, we wouldn't need woman at all. I think it's important for basic gender distinction - the women holding a child in a rocking chair image.

It's a peaceful and calm nurturing aspect and it calms men down. They need a mother even when they grow up or while they are attempting to grow up.

:aaa

No, I am not Rhoni. LOL

Yes, point taken and I agree! I read somewhere that if women stayed home and let the men work they would get paid more. I wonder if that is true?

And it turns men off, and it turns us women off too. It amazing when we find someone who acts like woman we have to comment on it because it seems so rare.

Where as if it was just a given we wouldn't have to be so conscience about it.

I think we like Sarah as opposed to Hillary. At least the side of Sarah that we like, cause we all know the path of a women, at times. LOL!
