Please help me pray...I need a job
 

I have been out of work since May and had anticipated going back to work the first of July. This was perfect at the time as I had surgery in May and could take the time to recover.

Well, the opportunity I thought I had fell through as did another opportunity I had last month.

Needless to say, I'm still unemployed.

And I'm getting desperate. I didnt anticipate being out of work so long or it being so hard to find a job.

I humbly ask for your prayers that God will open a door for me soon. I've been unemployed too long now, it's getting critical

Praying, Theresa! If it's God's will, it will happen.

I remember when my husband and I were having financial difficulties after I quit my sales job. I tried to get into something else because we were hurting. I think we had been married four years.

I had my briefcase on the bed looking through some papers. I knelt on the floor and prayed, "God, you have to help me. I can't make this work."

He spoke to me and said, "You trust the world to care for you more than you trust me."

I closed the briefcase, slid it under the bed and said, "Okay, I quit."

So, I pray the will of God for you.

Will be praying. I completely understand. I never had a problem finding work, but recently had to go back and it was quite an ordeal. I'm 2 months into the best job with best pay and benefits I've ever had, however, I didn't realize the whole time I was looking several firms were laying off large amounts of people in my specialized field, so that was what I was up against. Needless to say, God miraculously gave me this job in my eleventh hour. I went through a lot of idiot treatment, was belittled by one agency, however, when I went to this job interview, they let me know I was perfect for them.

Be encouraged and do your homework. Job searching is hard work and very time consuming. It looked like I had one job for sure, but on a lark, I decided to apply for the job I ended up getting. I was so disappointed when the one job didn't want me, the girl at the agency said, "they decided to pass on you." It was so upsetting. I said, that's it, I guess God doesn't want me working. Three days later, the job I ended up getting called and the rest is history.

Also, study and read how to market yourself well. Their are a lot of good articles and guides online. It's so competive now, you have to sell your skills and abillities.

Thank you everyone. This is really encouraging. I have an interview tomorrow afternoon that sounds promising and I had one yesterday that would be perfect, I'd be perfect for the job but if it doesnt work out, I wont be too upset, it just wasnt meant to be.....

I do hope this one tomorrow works out to be something worthwhile. I feel like I'm at my 11th hour....and to further frustrate matters, our phone was disconnected yesterday after I'd sent out a ton of updated, tweaked resumes...that I broke down and printed on that expensive resume paper...so they would stand out.

I had enough sense to put an alternate number in case this happened but the phone company is having issues so even that number is useless right now....

I'm glad I have you folks to turn to that I know will help me pray.

I'm trusting in God, only He can help me you know?

I know what you mean, I've gotten turned down for being overqualifed, which doesnt surprise me...but one place told me they thought I'd be bored since I had more specific experience than their position required.....crazy isnt it?

I have revamped my resume and my cover letters. Not that it wasnt good, I just had to get more aggressive...there are a LOT of people out of work right now, it's brutal.

thank you everyone....I have an interview at 3:00pm today. I dont think I'll get it b/c the application alone is 14 pages and you have to give an account for every job, every place you lived etc for the last 10 years.....They verify everything. They even make you sign a release for your medical information from not only tests they have you take but the release says something about records from your past insurance, etc....and if you make one mistake or omit something, they consider it a deliberate omission and a sign of guilt. It says something to that effect on the app. I cant remember what I had for breakfast, much less my address 10 years ago..

in other words, they can and DO check every aspect of your life from your credit and character to your high school transcripts.

I'm not worried about anything they might find, I have nothing to hide....but it seems a bit much for an administrative job, not even one in securities or finance of any sort....

Not too sure how I feel about the whole background check...

Do they hire an outside agency to do this check? I'd hate for the people I worked for/with to know all my medical info, etc.

When looking for job and things are getting though I tell myself "the only way you won't find a job is if you are dead, since you are alive and looking, the Lord has something for you out there, you just have to get to it." Based on that, work to search with confidence, not panic. And the more employers/ No's you get past, the closer you will be to your first "YES" or even "yes'". You are safe. Keep this in mind. Just be as agressive as you can and go bombard the city with your applications and resumes and before you know it, you will have a start date no matter what.

Father God, Holy Spirit,
I lift up Theresa's job situation to you Lord and express my Utmost confidence that you will supernaturally guide her toward her future employer and hand her the professional opportunity that perfectly fits her background Lord. Lord I ask that You expedite her job search and bless her with her dream job. In Christ Jesus Name, I pray. Amen.

Thank you everyone...I have a 2nd interview tomorrow for a job I interviewed for last week.....and job interview with another company Thursday.

I went to one interview today but it was a waste of time, literally. Not to mention gas LOL

guess what?

I got a job :)

it's really neat how it happened, I have to give God credit, it was totally unexpected.

The only drawback is it doesnt start till 10/20....but thats ok, things happen for a reason. It's a good secure job, for now anyway LOL

But there is much opportunity for advancement and more money :)

The lady that interviewed me hired me on the spot she said she wanted me that she just knew I'd bring a level of "class" to the position....how sweet huh?

I'm excited, I feel useful again, human. It's depressing not being able to find a job and being made to feel worthless.

But God did a better job than I could have ever done, thank you SO much for your prayers and encouragement

Oct 20th, if I were you I still continue looking, you could easily fish 2 more offers from here to then, better 3 of them than just one. And then, when you do you'd be like "I am too hot & sexy for all of you, maybe I should go look for a better jobs:bigweightlift:" nah, just kidding. ...Well, anyway, I think you can do that if you chose to.
