Griffin's Multi-purpose thread

First thread

Thanks to all for the prayers and outpouring of love at this time. It has been an interesting week or so. A job offer I had counted on since July fell through, hurricane without power or water, wife in car wreck...

My close friends know I need a CPAP to breath at night. Mine is so severe right now that less than 15 minutes attempting to sleep without it and I wake up gasping for breath, so sleep is fought and REM is impossible. After three days of this, with wife fresh out of Emergency Room and two teen girls three days without a shower in tow, I accepted Daniel Alicea's kind offer of sanctuary. I guess even Superman has to ask for help on occasion.

Daniel has proven to be a most gracious host and does everything with his usual flair. When we arrived the room was lit solely by apple cider scented candles, there were Rose petals on the floor spelling Welcome Griffins Will You Stay with Me? unable to resist he took me to the stairwell dropped to one knee and offered a key to the house. This morning we went to University of Houston and had pictures made. In the next couple of days the Alicea/Griffin hurricane party website should be functional.

Re: Griffin's Multi-purpose thread

Second Thread

Sincere thanks to all those who offered help and a place to stay if needed. The weather is nice and the stores are open if not for the lack of running water and needing the CPAP at night I probably would be roughing it out.

But I did want to give a special thanks to those who offered to open up there homes including my best friend J. Suber, Rhoni, Heather, Bill Price, and Ron.

Re: Griffin's Multi-purpose thread

I am so glad that you have a place to catch your breath (literally), James. Relax and let Daniel take care of you for a few days. Thank God for true friends in times of trouble!!

Re: Griffin's Multi-purpose thread

Third thread

Daniel and I enjoyed some nearly all night theological discussions, some of which I have no doubt, as usual, will end up here posed as hypothetical questions.

Although I have not posted lately, when I did I was gratified by the number of PMs I would receive commenting that I had made them think in new ways.

Daniel does much the same thing, whereas I approach things with slow moving logic and tact my friend sometimes prefers to use a cattle prod and watch the reaction.

Re: Griffin's Multi-purpose thread

Fourth thread.

Just wanted to give a shout out to Carpenter et al.

I have applied for trademark status for the word Apostolica. In the future I intend to file suit against the Vatican, Hispanics world wide, historians, Lilliputians are anyone else who tries to use it without my permission !!

James!

So glad you took your cape off and landed at Dan's!

Take care!

Re: Griffin's Multi-purpose thread

Fifth thread.

Daniel will probably be upset with me for pointing this out.

He loves the Apostolic movement, and is in love with the concept of truth period.

For those who do not know how to read his posts. He believes in the absolute love and efficacy of the blood of Christ. He believes that baptism is a commandment and not a suggestion. He believes in the absolute necessity of being filled with the Holy Ghost. The issue goes more toward the why, and what these things represent rather than are they part of the Apostolic doctrine and Apostolica ®( see fourth thread).

There is only ONE proof, and that is that MOW was the first one to use the word "apostolica." Do a search and you'll see the truth as it is. Sorry, Griff! :D

Sixth Thread

Further interpretation of Dan's posting style.

People would be shocked to know ______________

Some will be shocked to find out the world is not flat.

Some will be shocked to hear Christ say depart from me you workers of inequity, after than have done miracles in His Name.

Read the post don't project into it.

As to what he has already said. I too would love to hear CC1's view on mastication.

And yes I have no doubt many would be shocked by my views on homosexuality (that will be a legitimate separate thread sometime).

And SOME would no doubt be shocked by some of Billy Cole's beliefs.

JG, I'm glad that everything is working out so well. Let me know if I can do anything. I still don't have power but I did manage to pick up a generator (for free I might add). We do have power at the church and we do operate a food bank and we have Ready To Eat Meals. Here by the church there are plenty places that are still selling drinking water at the regular prices...apparently in this neck of the woods beer is all they're interested in drinking now.

God Bless,

First, I was so glad to hear that you took DA up on his kind offer, and that your wife is ok (if probably very sore!). I know it has been an exhausting week, your family has been in my thoughts and prayers.

Second, the first post about the welcome you received from Dan was borderline hysterical!!!

Third, I don't think I have seen you quite this chatty in some time! Either the accumulated lack of sleep, or the stress of the storm, whatever, but I am loving it!!!

You are a prince among men, sir!

Re: Griffin's Multi-purpose thread

THANKS Stew,

Temperature here is in the 60s in the morning, pleasant breeze.

Stores in area are fully stocked, gas lines are down to 4 deep instead 70. Wife picked up rental car, downed some meds and headed to work.

Even though it looks like my area will be another week or two without power God is Good.

Borderline?? The boy read it over my shoulder and is still traumatized. Think I hear him in the other room calling Cassie and saying it ain't so.

It was the CPAP that had me most concerned. Roughing it for a few days never hurt anyone. Unless they can't sleep.

I'm glad you got some good sleep and I'm sure the girls were quite thrilled about showers. lol

Because of Dan's posting style in general but more specifically in a recent thread, I'd decided I would not discuss doctrine with him again. I can discuss superficial stuff, chit chat, but nothing deep with him. You're post is tempting me to reconsider, but honestly I've lost alot of respect for Dan lately. It'll have to be earned back and I don't know if he can do it or would even want to do it.

Alas, as a lover of truth, I must concede your correctness!

However, if I'm not mistaken, if one has been using the TM sign on a trademark and it can be proven for a period of time, then the trademark belongs to you even before you have filed.

So, if I can prove that the "apostolicatm" has been used by me for a period of time, then it's mine!

Wow, You mean the love of Jesus in demonstration. And in America. TCSQ should be shocked to find that you were helped without you having to steal it at gunpoint. And being helped by brothers on the AFF; the "church" loving and caring for itself. Amazing to some, but norm for those of us who practice this God-kind of life everyday.

Seems like Jimbo is the romantic ...

After eating the dinner I prepared yesterday .... Jim proposed that if Deb were to leave him and Cass were to leave me ... he'd want to be housemates with me....

I responded with he just doesn't offer what I'm looking for ...
