What would they ever do without a techno beat, light shows, wild hairdo's, youthful contemporary leaders?

If they are ever thrown in the sea of spiritual formation and told to tread water spiritually they would drown not having learned the essence of worship, submission, brokeness and giving up your rights to run your life.

WOAH! That is one of the worst things I've seen to try to pass as worship! That's the kind of assembly where the "worship leader" thinks, "Ok, so what crazy things can I make people do today? Since I have the microphone and all..." For our brethren that don't know, the song they were singing was an 80's pop song, they just changed the words a bit. That's not "contemporary worship", that's not worship period. That's foolishness, and I'm just glad that wasn't an apostolic assembly, although some apostolic assemblies are getting there. If I were in a service where they were doing that I'd leave... needless to say, I was the kid at Youth Congress who didn't give into their antics.

There were a couple of songs infused into one song.

It's good that they were exercising to a song that at least mentioned the Lord. :)

"You spin me right round Jesus, right round, like a record Jesus right round, round, round."

Kind of catchy, kind of stooo-ped.

With acts like this the world does not need us OPs to laugh at....that's down right embarrasing.

Exactly.

I think that it could've been done in a way that was catchy, made sense, and didn't involve smelly socks.

I am inspired now. I am going to change some of the words to Culture Club's 'Church of the Poison Mind' and make it a worship song.

Can't EVEN qualify for worship and, IMO, is pitiful music, too.

"Wave your hands in the aye-yair"

It is hard for me to mock ANY step toward God, regardless of how feeble.

This would of course be a tragic back step for youth raised around Apostolic churches, I cannot escape the feeling though that for some in attendance it may have been a decision to attend this vs a "rave".

In which case it would be a step in the right direction.

Perhaps a seed was planted in the heart of one who knows nothing of Jesus but will now research.

Perspective and context.

This is a worship service for The Ramp in Hamilton, AL. While this does look a little out of control these are very sincere people. I have watched many of their services and have never seen this before. Usually it is very passionate worship and is not much different than many oneness pentecostal services.

In the south many youth from AOG, COG, and some baptist are going to these youth rallies and getting "on fire for God". Trust me if this was all that happened at these events they wouldn't have any credibility.

I have been known to have some liberal leanings where this sort of thing is concerned (as long as God is in it). But I am seeing your point, Bro. Alex, on this one. It's hard to determine from this exactly what is the object of their emotion. I don't understand the socks thing! Extravagance can never be mistaken for sincerity! For all of their flailing and twirling and spinning and jumping, were they really engaging Jesus? I hope so. I hope that DeltaGuitar is correct, that these are young people that made a choice between this or a rave and chose the "religious" option.

I won't judge them, just making some admittedly judgmental observations as a spectator, not having been there nor familiar with who they are. This certainly doesn't inspire me, but my way is not the only way.

I do not doubt their sincerity...not everyone is blessed with as much knowledge as some on this board.
I feel like I do know a little more about God but not in a proud way...it pains me that they do not know as much as we do. I will pray for them.

Re: Interesting Worship Service

I did my "evangelical-charismatic" youth pastor impersonation on Saturday (I happened to be wearing jeans and a hoodie, so I looked the part, lol)- it was hilarious... Some of the youth were actually surprised at how good a job I could do (it was funny because I was out of my typical reserved and conservative demeanor).
