We Are Having a Murder Mystery Dinner

at our church in a couple of weeks and I need help with the decoration ideas.'

The Title is " A KNIGHT OF MURDER" and I need ideas for table settings with a medieval theme.

We have been to Medieval Times in Dallas and in Ontario Canada and they didn't really have "table settings", so not sure as what to do.

Any ideas?

Well, I think you could start with lots of whole chickens... throw in some turkey drumsticks, grapes etc.

Perhaps some clay pitchers full of grape juice (or wine :) )

Can I come and be a court jester?

The "Holy Ghost" spoke to me and said that you'd be the first one to reply. :ursofunny

Thanks.

Here's our menu......

soup--chicken broth
bread sticks
herbed baked chicken
broasted potatoes
some kind of dessert

tea
coffee
soda

fruit

So you were pretty close to the money on that one. :friend

Re: We Are Having a Murder Mystery Dinner

I would use some crude looking wrought iron fireplace tongs to serve up the food. Use wooden platters if you can find some.

Re: We Are Having a Murder Mystery Dinner

You can light the tables with "torches" - just cut off those garden torches and paint them black.

Re: We Are Having a Murder Mystery Dinner

I'm really excited about this. We have 9 visitors coming for this. I'm trying to do some different things.

We had some people gripping about it today, and I almost let it hurt my feelings, and finally decided "Rain on them and the parade they rode in on!!!" I'm at least trying to reach out and help and make it fun in the process.

BTW, good idea about fireplace tongs..

Do you mean "tiki" torches?

LC - some people would complain if Jesus himself were throwing the party!

You did a great job of not letting it get to you.

yes. they are cheap too. Cut the stems about 12" long and use a little scrap steel to wrap around them for holders.

Gross!!!

Actually, this is a dinner where you have to come in "acting" your part. It's like the game "clue" but you have to act it out. The murder takes place while there, just after dinner. The Lord of the manor welcomes everyone after we eat then the lights go out, and the murder takes place and then the lights come on. Even the victim doesn't know who murdered them.

It'll be fun

Um....no. It just happened to be this time of year. We haven't done anything in a while, so I decided to do it now. Actually, it's a pretty good time with all the costumes and stuff out, cause you have to dress the part.

Ya'll ought to come up and be a part. We would have a blast.

I assigned the part of Sir Cameron, a Knight, to my hubby. He's feeling pretty good about himself. :tease

Dude I is. These torches can also be carried... that has a nice effect. plan to have a fan in a window to keep a little air flow - and get the smokless fuel.

You can have wooden trenchers that couples could share.

That would be fun - but my schedule is hectic right now.

Hey! Didn't those knights wear tights when they were out of armor??? LOL!!:ursofunny

I actually broke everyone up. I did this so the visitors could be really mixed in and have a good time. Most of the time, everybody had their own little "clique" and I decided to mix it up a bit. (Hubby tried to "balk" on that one, but I won!!!!!!:tease)

That is a great idea also, many churches have cliques and never give someone an opportunity to find out how much fun they are. :)

We have these walnut bowl outlets - sometimes they have seconds that are priced at half or less.

What an awesome idea for outreach! I love drama and am involved in community theater in the town nextdoor. We are actually in the middle of a murder mystery dinner theater ourselves but I didn't audition this time because of scheduling conflicts.

Have fun, and keep us posted on how it goes!

LadyCoonskinner 10-07-2008 07:22 PM

Re: We Are Having a Murder Mystery Dinner

WE actually have 2 more visitors, so that makes 11 visitors to this dinner. I am excited. I really started to bother me that we had a couple of mouthy little whiners, but oh well, it's gonna be fun in spite of what they say.

To God be the Glory. I want to be able to reach out to the visitors and hopefully this will be a tool that the Lord and us as a church can use.

Please pray that this turns out like I have it in mind to. I want to be able to reach out and win someone.

Well, we have another visitor coming, so that makes 12 visitors. WEEEEEHHAAAAAAWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!:shockamoo:shockamoo: shockamoo:party:party

I take that back we have one more young man coming, so that makes 13. (Since he's young, we're going to let my oldest boy and another one that are around his age go ahead and come to the dinner.

One of the girls that is coming is a bi-sexual. At first we stressed that this was at a church, and then I thought, if it isn't for her, then who's it for. She has just as much right to know God and experience HIM as anyone else does, so I jumped at the chance that she was interested in coming.

Please pray that this is a great influence to those who are not a part of the kingdom.
