This reminds me, yesterday we drove past Anglican church here in town-

They had a banner that said "St. Francis Day-special blessings for animals"

I hope they laid down newspaper in the alter area :crazy

Where does the Bible specifically say that an animal has no "soul" or "spirit"?

I believe there will be animals in Heaven. The revelation describes angelic beasts around the throne of God....and Christ himself returns on a white horse (I believe the saints are depicted as riding steeds as well). If you search the Bible the only place horses were made was on earth. I imagine this horse once lived on earth. Also, when the angel loosed the tongue of Balam's donkey, it spoke as an intelligent and self aware creature who could see the angel. Animals are highly sensitive to the spiritual.

Personally, I think there's more to animals and the spiritual than we're willing to acknowledge in our human arrogance. I had a shepherd mix who was very keen on things. I swear she alerted us of a spirit a time or two.

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord....that includes all creation...not just man. I believe in the book of Romans Paul even states how the entire creation travails awaiting it's redemption from the curse when Christ returns. That includes every beast....land, sea, and air.

Yeah, we do that. I'm just playing around. She is a good natured dog. She is just too smart for her own good sometimes. She actually can't excercise now because she has an elbow problem and is on anti inflamatories...I almost have to hog-tie her to keep her from jumping around on that leg.

Awwwww, sorry to hear that. We had to get rid of our St. Bernard puppy. She was climbing the fence into the goat and chicken pen. She did go to a good home though.

That is tough to do. I couldn't imagine having to get rid of ours. She has cost me an arm and a leg recently...but those are the breaks :)

This brings up a theological question which was posted on this board (or some other board, I don't remember now). The question concerned cats and baptism and I don't think it was answered. The question was whether a cat should be baptized 9 times because it has 9 lives or if one dunk was sufficient.

I don't know that there will be animals in heaven, but I do believe there will be animals on the New Earth.

Isaiah chapter 11 and Hosea chapter 2 speak of a time (I think this is future and on the earth) where there will be peace among people and even among the animals.

Don't tell my wife they don't but Ecc 3:21 states they don't. Although it depends on what is meant by "beast" animal or the "Beast"

Cat's are wonderful, misunderstood companions....and I for one believe my cat will be right there in heaven with me.
I even considered having our ashes scattered together when we die.......
