Fox News: Fair & Balanced

Just watched a segment with Fox and Friends anchors Brian and Gretchen interview a Hofstra professor who was there to defend that Bill Ayers is a respected educator and that he had little bearing on the Obama campaign. The characterization that Fox is one-sided is a bunch of hooey. They simply bring the media coverage to the middle giving equal time to both sides something the rest of the mainstream media fail to do.

CNNs best shows, Crossfire and The Capital Gang, shows that offered balanced views got axed years ago. MSNBC got rid of Tucker Carlson and added Rachel Maddow to the Matthews and Olbermann line up. The only balanced show on MSNBC is Morning Joe. Joe and Pat Buchanan balance out Mika and Mike Barnacle or Andrea Mitchell.

FNC has Hannity and O'Reilly (although I have seen Bill skewer conservatives) on the right. They have Colmes and Geraldo on the left. Greta Va Sustren is middle of the road. Brit Hume and Chris Wallace are fair and obejctive journalists. Their panels include people from both sides: Bill Kristol, Fred Barnes, Charles Krauthammer on the right, Mort Kondrakie in the middle, and Juan Williams, Mara Liason, and another lady whose name I cant recall on the left. Karl Rove is a contributor as well as Hillary's former campaign manager (Atkinson?).

Fox would not even receive as much as a recognition that they existed if they weren't #1 on cable and sometimes even beating CBS in the ratings. The monopoly that NY media elites had forever continues to crumble b/c of the "new media" which includes talk radio, the internet and Fox. Fox's approach of fair and balanced journalism has proven to be a winning strategy, something that CNN, MSNBC and the networks would do well to learn.

Sorry but you are all wet!!!!!:ursofunny
Fox news fair and balanced????:crazy
Colmes, Jaun Williams, Mara Liason are token democrats. They fold under the constant yelling of the Republicans. Get some real democrats like Carvel or Bagula who will scream back.

Brit Humes and Wallace make no bones about it, they are for any one running as long as it is a republican.

Fox News screams about voter fraud ( BTW It is not voter fraud to sign up dead people, it is only voter fraud if someone actually votes in place of the dead person.)

In Calif there is fragulant voter sign up perpetrated by the republicans (Estimated up to 70 thousand people) yet Fox News is not fair and balanced. they haven't reported it as far as I have seen.

.

It is voter fraud if a ballot is filled out and submitted for those fake and/or duplicate registrations. In Ohio a person can register and vote at the same time. When an ACORN employee has a handful of "registrations" he/she also has a handful of ballots.

Sam read it again. It is not voter fraud if one does not vote!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is registration fraud to file a phoney reg. form.

So does this mean you might reconsider that Fox is a bit more balanced?

Do you believe CNN and MSNBC are balanced?

That's such hogwash.

First of all, all over this country, submitting false and invalid voter registrations is a crime.

But furthermore, let's look at the intention here: The intention when signing up dead people is so that others will be able to vote under the name of those people. Thus it is attempted voter fraud at the very least, because voter fraud is clearly the intent.

TR, I agree that any form of this is unethical and illegal. However, I think that for many of the people involved in the Ohio scandal and in the California scandal the issue is more that people are being paid to register people. I'm not sure if the ultimate goal by those doing the registering is to get people to vote. Obviously, it is the ultimate goal of those who hire these firms or utilize these groups, but I'm not sure if the employee on the street who is on an assignment to get x amount of registrations really cares whether the person actually votes or not.
I hope we really work on getting a universal, fail-safe system of voting that would ensure that the democratic process is not tainted either way.

If you will take the time to read what I said you will see I am saying the same thing you are.

IT IS NOT VOTER FRAUD IF THE REGISTERED PERSON DOES NOT VOTE.

IT IS REGISTRATION FRAUD.

Words mean something, look at the words used please and you will see what I posted was not hogwash.

As far as Acorn is concerned most forms submitted were in the names of cartoon characters, this includes the names of the cowboys. Do you actual believe some one is going to show up to vote and say my name is MICKEY MOUSE????:crazy

You are so correct. But you do not have a story if you tell it like it really is.

But under Ohio's laws those can be more than just registrations.
Each can be submitted as a vote by ACORN whether the person who signs up multiple times even knows it or not.

I'm sorry Sam but according to your state election law you are not correct. Below is a link that will help you understand your Ohio election law a little better.

Re: Fox News: Fair & Balanced

First, ACORN should be shut down because they have a history of paying bums on a per person basis to register people to vote. That's a recipe for illegal registrations and they know it. I personally hope that the head of ACORN is investigated and those that committed registration fraud are prosectued to the fullest extent. There's nothing more at the core of democracy than a LEGAL vote and ACORN isn't pursuing that.

That said, the effect of these crazy registrations will be minimal on election day. In most states, I believe you have to show a valid photo ID when voting. Also most states, including Ohio, have a 30 day pre-election deadline to register to vote. I'd find it hard to believe that any state would allow a person to register to vote and vote on the day of the election because it couldn't be verified.

Now I do think if someone isn't on the roll, they can cast a provisional ballot and then it's checked by the Sect. of State and it would be validated at that point. I think in 99.9% of cases, the system works.

Precisely.
Of course, the purpose of registration fraud is to enable voter fraud. Some may split hairs between those two, but at the end of the day, they both work hand in hand to undermine the integrity of the pool of votes cast, and to undermine the very democratic process itself in states all across America.

And with absentee voting being increasingly used all over the country, a person with a handful of fraudulent voter cards can vote 20, 30+ times, no questions asked, and avoid detection. That, of course, is the very intent.

As I said before, if we had a true justice system, the leaders of ACORN would be facing federal charges. With what they're doing, they're practically running a criminal enterprise .

Sam can you show me in Ohio's law and not Fox News where a registration form that is sent in to the state of Ohio is a vote?

I all ready did. Read the laws of Ohio for your self. Those that are saying registration forms sent in by Acorn are counted as actual votes are listening to Fox News and other right wing web sites that give misleading and false information.

I know, I know you will say MSNBC, CNN and left wing web sites give misleading and false information. Yes they all do.

Read the Laws for yourself
