Is he looking our way? lol

This is really cool, but is this going to cause a stink in the UPC? Is he preaching or singing?

He's supposed to be in Hattiesburg, MS Saturday, October 25 along with Jeff and Sherrie Easter and Mike Bowling. A southern gospel sing, not being held at a church though. I'm still going to hear them sing! :)

Why would it cause a "stink" ? I thought the UPC churches were independant and could have whoever the Pastor/congregation wanted. ?

Could it be that the concert promoter is just using the church
facility?

Is the church having JC come to minister to their people?

The pastor and his wife are HUGE fans of Jason Crabb. I'm not surprised that he's going there. I'm just glad they will allow him to minister there. They will probably get some flack over it though.

See I agree with ya. I think that even though a church is or can be autonomous they can still get into some goofy stuff from the district and or regional board. I think it is awesome. I think that there are alot of people that have a lot of good things to say and a great segement of people won't listen cause of the "ark" they are in.

S.W's myspace page looks like she has a crush on Jason Crabb. The last time I visited the church she was bragging about Jason Crabb and how he invites her on stage to sing with him when she goes to his concerts. She was also trying to get people to buy her CD's that she made. I love to hear Jason Crabb sing, but I won't be going to Calvary church to hear him because it will be all about her getting up there to sing with him- not about letting him minister.

It was before you were there. I would know his name if I heard it. It was the guy in charge of A.C.E. schools.

Probably not, but information I've heard is that Kathy Crabb, Gerald's ex-wife, had UPC connections, a grandmother I believe attended a UPC church in Kentucky.

There will be some to condemn the UPC church for having him. I know a lot of UPC pastors that wouldn't allow him in. Especially in the areas around Jackson, TN

No, I'm pretty sure it's the pastor inviting JC to come. I heard the Pastor's wife promoting the event on the local gospel radio station.

But, you know if JC was appearing at the Civic Auditorium in Jackson it would be run over with UPC folks - ministers included.

Several. I can think of four right in Jackson and one just on the outskirts. I may be missing some. West TN is heavily populated with UPC churches

Lighthouse, Calvary,......who am I missing???? I'm drawing a blank here. McKeller's (Bemis) is no longer UPC.

Jason Crabb was at the huge Baptist church across the street from ours last year, and they had old time REVIVAL. He had deacons in the altars repenting.

I grew up around Kathy, as I recall her dad was a Pentecostal Pastor of a small Indep work.
I visited his church a few times when I was a teen, due to my aunt and uncle attending the church.
I was around Gerald back in our teen years at another small Indep church.
He and Kathy did not know each other then.
Gerald later pastored a Church of God church in our community, then some years later he pastored a (oneness) church. (I cannot remember the official name of the church),

I wasn't sure if Bemis was still UPC or not.

Lighthouse, Calvary, what used to be Northside (Bro. Clark, not sure if still in) and Bro. Grimsley's church - can't think of the name of the church.

Was Faith Tabernacle a UPC church?
Bro. Clark is now going to his son Tim's church in Gibson County so I was told by Nathan Clark.

Donald Lance pastors one of those UPC churches. I do not know the other pastors. I think there are several independent churches also in Jackson.
Such a large city...with thousands to reach...

Bro. Lance pastors the Lighthouse Church. This is the church that was destroyed by the tornado earlier this year.

Was Faith Tabernacle the one Bro. Hodge pastored long time ago? I think at one time at least it was UPC.

Much better, thanks! Yesterday and today were my first days without the crutches and braces. I feel FREE!!!! Woo hoo! Yesterday was my first day to drive anywhere and I had to go to the post office and it was raining. They had out those "wet floor" signs and I walked like a little old lady, trying to be ultra-careful. LOL! Both times I have fallen, it's been on wet tile floors.

It's not anymore, and I think Marci (Hodge) and her brother co-pastor it, but I could be wrong on that. The old Bemis church was sold and they built in the Medon area. Bro. Carl McKellar retired and his son pastors it, but it's not UPC either.

Bro. McKellar is a such a Christian gentleman. He visited almost every day when my dad was in the hospital in Jackson. Such a encouragement for us during that time.

It is so precious when others are concerned. I remember when my mother had her stroke in Brazil and the different ones that called about her. It is at this time you can see the love of God in a visible form.

(I donīt know a lot of UPC or ex UPC folks since I have been independent all my life)

Haddock's dad and my dad were in the hospital (neuro ward) in 2000 at the same time. That's when I really got to know her mom - such a sweetheart! Bro. McKellar was a chaplain then and he WAS so good about coming around to see us. Like she said....such a gentleman. I don't know his son who is the pastor now.
