Oh Wow! This is quite the event! Almost as momentous as James Garner turning in his license - or did he??? I think these guys are educated, deep thinkers, progressively minded and it's tough standing by and watching while the organization they invested their lives in gets caught up in political shenanigans and refuses to come into the new millenium in order to reach the world with the gospel.

Wonder if his dad still holds to the "hair" issue??? "Hair, the Long and Short of It," is the only book authored by Bro. Segraves that I have can't quite wrap my mind around. Maybe Mark will write a version called, "Hair: the SHORT and the Long of It."

Since leaving the UPCI and joining the COGIC, I sure do miss my days with the UPCI!

I think Dora is talking about Jeff Garner. He and Mark both got M.Divs and Jeff got a D.Min (i think Mark did too) and they both taught at Christian Life College.

Well I definitely felt like I was on the outside when I visited the UPCI last night for Sun evening service.

I tell you what, from my experience, NO ONE knows how to have church like a bunch blood-bought-holy-rollin-power praying-Holy Ghost-filled United Pentecostal Christians!

While there and in prayer with my nephew before service, I found myself praying, "In the begining was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God," and, "Unto us a child is born unto a Son is given. The government shall be upon His shoulders. And His Name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Evervalsting Father, The Prince of Peace."

I miss belonging to an UPCI church.

This brother's decision to leave is no doubt a very gut wrenching decision-- one that no one can make lightly.
