~ OBAMA TOLD SAN FRANCISCO THIS: ~

If somebody wants to build a coal power plant they can, it's just that it will bankrupt them because they are going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that's being emitted," Barack Obama said to the San Francisco Chronicle in January.

The Mid West needs to WAKE UP!!!!
What's wrong with them????? I thought they were God fearing people!
NO Room to talk about California being Liberal anymore!!!! OHIO,
INDIANA, ILLINOIS, MISSIOURI, IOWA, ETC

McCain’s idea is to increase the number of nuclear power plants in the United States. This will help reduce fossil fuel emissions. He plans to invest in research to find ways to burn coal more cleanly and efficiently.

I think this article puts both views out rather nicely on the subject.

(excerpt)

McCain's Emissions-Reduction Plan Receives Favorable Review

Where Obama and McCain disagree on the plan concerns the role of the government, specifically how the government should allocate permits to companies. And unlike the current, silly spat over tire pressure gauges, this one matters.

Obama favors a full auction of the credits, which would act like a tax on companies, collecting a great deal of money right off the bat for the government to redistribute. This cash, he says, could go to alternative energy research and projects, then the credits would go to markets.

McCain says he would dole out permits in much the same way proposed by the Climate Security Act of 2007. That act failed in June to receive enough Senate support to even bring to a vote, but the basics are the same: Give the great majority of the permits away, and let the market set the price to support investment.

You're fine with it, Mark. It's still on the top page with Drudge, so it remains front page news. :friend

Where was McCain and the GOP on all of this? This should've been out weeks ago! And why haven't the 527 groups like the Swift Boat Veterans of 2004 been out there with commercial after commercial replaying Rev. Wright, Obama's "bitter people" speech, Michele O's "first time...to be proud of America" speech, etc? For me its too much, too little, too late. The last time a Republican refused to "go negative" (Bob Dole) when there were legitimate personal issues present he lost.

DB, I still think there is a chance that McCain will win the electoral vote.

PA, OH and W.VA are all states that are heavily dependant on coal

I don't know where I read or heard this, but it was in the last couple of days.

What appears to be happening is the information is getting out by other groups supporting McCain. By doing that the focus isn't so much on McCain going negative, but letting others do it for him because the American people want to decide for themselves and they don't want McCain deciding for them. That is why his numbers are going up for one thing.

Obama is staying under radar in order to try and glide through to win. He doesn't go tit for tat with McCain because he will have to answer big questions. If he lays as low as possible he appears to be the one in control and more presidential. Personally, I believe the average American can see through that.

Obama has not been able to capture the white Christian voter which comprises about 1/3 of all voters. He is scoring less than Gore and Kerry on that account.

McCain scores much higher in confidence on National Security, therefore, I can't look at the polling and believe it for Obama.

There are too many grassroot considerations that are just not going Obama's way. No one is paying attention to this.

I'm not giving up, I just think the Mac campaign could have employed a better strategy. They always like to paint advertising that questions a person's character or personal choices as "negative" and that the electorate is turned off by it, but the Dems and the liberal media never seem to adress the hypocrisy of questioning Mac's age, or Palin's wardrobe or pregnant daughter or Pentecostalism. They play hardball under the guise of "journalism" to give it a sense of legitimacy. The GOP sometimes gets intimidated by the Big Media Monopolies, Hollywood Snobs and Ivy League Intellectuals. We think that if we cave in to their rhetorical "different kind of politics", they'll see us as honorable and respect us. Its a ruse.

So-called "negative advertising" works, it just has to be used wisely. You can't harp on Bill Ayers for one week and then move on to something else. When the poll numbers started to change about mid September, the ads on Wright, Ayers, Khalidi, Raines, Rezko, etc should've hit the airwaves non-stop until election day. If the American electorate hears it enough times, it will begin to resonate. You can't give it one week and then change the subject. I think the attacks on taxes should've started earlier too. It just seems like Mac and his campaign waited too late to hammer away on all of these legitimate questions about Barack.

With McCain's history of reaching across the aisle, maybe he just didn't have the stomach for it, I don't know, but its perplexing that should he lose he may end up losing the war with nuclear weapons in his arsenal.

I agree with you. I think as you get older, you mellow out and don't like to fight much. McCain only seems to fight when there is intense pressure on him. It seems to bring out the best in him.

You're so right. They should have hammered this non stop ( or let someone else do it like they are doing now).

The Republican party didn't run a very good campaign

Correct. I posted the information on this post here:
http://www.apostolicfriendsforum.com...79&postcount=7

I didn't make a separate thread out of it. Maybe I should have.

But at this point, it's just starting to feel like information like this is too little, too late. The actual interview in question took place in January 2008.
McCain's people should have been all over this months ago. It's ridiculous that the story had to be broken by some little-known website, and then carried on Drudge before America started to take notice of this. McCain has been trying too hard to be Mr Nice Guy, and not hit Obama in the mouth when he should have.... even though Obama's been hitting him in the mouth from the very beginning. Well, being Mr Nice guy usually causes you to lose, as it seems McCain is about to do.

He's run a very weak campaign. I'm really starting to wonder if Mitt Romney would have been a better candidate.

Governor Huckabee was the best Republican candidate this cycle.

He would have had my vote-- I would have been compelled to vote for him, if I was voting.

He would been a very strong Republican VP for Sen. McCain, but he felt the need to attempt to exploit the fissures in the Democrat Party.

Sen. McCain may have been a little on the nice side, but his surrogates were not, not in the least bit.
