AFF Election Night Thread...

Ok folks. We've had all these pre-election threads, thoughts, opinions, etc.

So here on this thread those of us keeping watch on things can can post running updates and commentary regarding Election Night developments, as they unfold.

Starting off:

Matt Drudge's early report:
EXIT POLLS CLAIM 'OBAMA +15' IN PA... DEVELOPING...
TOO CLOSE TO CALL AT CLOSE: FL, IN, OH...
MCCAIN KEEPING AZ... DEVELOPING...

If this is true and McCain loses PA.. he's gonna be quickly running out of states he can take to make the 270 electoral votes he'll need. But I guess it's good he's close in Fl and OH. If he can somehow take those, he'll have a chance, slim as it might look right now.

Re: AFF Election Night Thread...

McCain leading 50-49% in Indiana. Still early though.

CNN's only projecting 2 states so far; Kentucky for McCain, Vermont for Obama. No surprises there so far.

A lot of these polls just closed a few minutes ago (7pm eastern) , so we should be getting some numbers in those states within the hour.

Re: AFF Election Night Thread...

State of Virginia too close to call.

A_PoMo 11-04-2008 05:20 PM

Re: AFF Election Night Thread...

Indiana shouldn't be 'too close to call' at this point. It should be in the bag for Reds.

MSNBC projecting 261-174 for the Dems in the House.

HUGE turnout in PA in black precincts. Not good news for the Reds.

Re: AFF Election Night Thread...

I think Virginia is where McCain has to hang his hat right now. If the polls turn out right in PA, McCAin must win Virginia.

Pollster.com is a really interesting site with up to the minute reports.

The very earliest exit polls which tend to overstate for Democrats and are the most inaccurate this early, have Obama up by 10% nationally, 54% to 44% for McCain. To put that in perspective at this point in 2004 they had Kerry up by 3%.

It's kind of amusing to watch the coverage. Everybody on FOX is somber, serious, and seem pretty down. Perhaps St. Mark can ask them for some sedatives. :) Then if you switch over to MSNBC it's happy times and everybody is jovial and in a good mood. Who says FOX is fair and balanced? haha.

We have people at work taking off tomorrow because they plan on partying late into the night! I just hope they don't go nuts and do damage.

I didn't say that. I'm just countering the 'fair and balance' claims of FOX fans and making an opinionated observation. :tease

I am just speechless with the very early results so far. I really thought I would be seeing Obama ahead even this early but BHO is only ahead in the very blue states of Maine and New Hampshire! McCain is ahead in the rest.
Any comments?

Obama ahead in Florida by 12 points.

Fox reports that McCains numbers among white evangelicals, whites, whites w/out degrees, late deciders, and seniors all lower than Bush in '04.

Hume and Kristal were just talking about that. Said it's not an Obama blowout but that it looks like it'll end up like the polls say with a comfortable Obama win.

South Carolina just called for McCain.
