What does "we as a people will get there" mean?

That was part of Obama's speech last night.

he believes American is a big screw up as a whole and thinks his election is the first step in fixing what ails us...

I'm not being biased here or trying to sound racist but IMO the only ones with "civil rights issues" are the minorities.

Where is this great oppression and big resistance that's been holding an entire race back? I've seen equal rights available to any and everyone willing to do what it takes to obtain them.

He, and his supporters see his election as a chance to finally "fix" everything.

The Lord woke me up with this song I heard Mickey Mangun sing years ago. This is the only part of the song I can remember:

Long and Winding Road

Long and winding road keep on leading me
Up ahead I see a sign that tells me
You're heading straight for your victory
I know I must be traveling right
For I remember passing Calvary
Although it's dusty and it's old
For years it's borne the travelers load
Someday this road will turn to gold
And for some this road's already turned to gold
For me someday this road will turn to gold

This is all that matters to me today!

You've got to understand the mind of a liberal. The last eight years have been insufferable for them. An openly Christian president who has been strong on national defense, appointed strict constructionist justices, cut taxes, grew the economy from the last recession he inherited from Clinton until recently, a man who didn't poll popular opinion to decide what to do, a man who wasn't fornicating in the Oval Office, a man who did not suck up to the Hollywood activists, a man who made decisions and stayed the course in order to achieve the goal, a man who signed restrictive laws on late term abortions, a man who opposed gay marriage, a man who forced public school teachers to be accountablen etc.

In their worldview, the country has been torn apart because of these and other issues. It is divided because of traditional values and faith and Judeo-Christian morality. Now they talk national unity, and healing and coming together, but that will only come with conditions. They will do what they want and expect for the rest of the 46% of Americans who rejected BO as president to go along for the ride, be silent and accept the will of the people.

Brighter days are ahead. Our nation is in bad shape. We now have a chance for salvation. Its all rhetoric. There may be some token gestures at appearing bi-partisan, but new presidents know if one is going to get much done they have to do it the first year b/c the midterms turn everything political.

I will pray for BO, in fact I have already, but strap on your seatbelts, 2009 is going to be a ride.

National unity is a ridiculous idea, complete unity requires that someone drop their values. Since liberals don't believe in absolutes, they have no problems swinging with the wind, and they cannot comprehend anyone that has values that are unchangeable.

You are right they cannot understand GWB at all, they love the darkness because their deeds are evil. Bush is not perfect but he has stood tall against evil, if the Demos dismantle the military it will be a very dangerous world.

I understand that human rule will not bring about the righteous of God, but we need leaders that really care about the defense and protection of the nation. I do not trust the Demos in this area at all, to say nothing of the social issues.

I pray that God will give BO wisdom beyond his training, and he will have the courage to stand against his party. Maybe the true black church will bend his ear, like a black grandmother rebuking her children for their sinful ways.

As I watched Senator McCain last night with tears in his eyes, I saw a great man. A man that does not have the Holy Ghost, but a man that is far above some that claim to have the Holy Ghost. He was clearly annoyed when his supporters began to boo. He refused to bad mouth President elect Obama. He said he looked forward to working with the new President.
Tearing down seem to be a trait with some apostolic. If things don't go their way they Bad Mouth and continue with the hate that has been prevalent since 2000.

It means we get along in spite of our differences. That's what used to make this country so wonderful. I'm convinced that it's getting so bad that one half of America will not be happy until they've arrested or killed the other half. The extremists on both sides are the problem.

We're talking politics. Not religion. Not values. For example, I have gay neighbors. I believe they have a right to privacy and all the same rights I have. But I wouldn't allow them to sleep together in my home. Nor would I expect my pastor to perform a union or to bless their relationship. We have deep differences...but on a political level all men are free and equal.

I'm reminded of a quote...
“I confidently trust that the American people will prove themselves … too wise not to detect the false pride or the dangerous ambitions or the selfish schemes which so often hide themselves under that deceptive cry of mock patriotism: ‘Our country, right or wrong!’ They will not fail to recognize that our dignity, our free institutions and the peace and welfare of this and coming generations of Americans will be secure only as we cling to the watchword of true patriotism: ‘Our country—when right to be kept right; when wrong to be put right.’”— Senator Carl Schurz, October 17, 1899

Oh well...... :) .... people are people after all and get caught up in the political systems that rule our world. In a democratic society, the freedom to vote and express yourself freely is of great value.

But we need to never lose sight of the fact that God is SOVEREIGN and that He is over it all! So thankful this is true! :)

Jeanie,

You can be indignant about all you like about what you see happening.
Fact is you have to look at things objectively.
A lot of this mess started under the Republicans.
If things were so great under Bush, people would have voted en mass for McCain.
Will Obama be better?
I don't think so.

What is this reference to Canada?
We have had Liberals/Conservatives in power for the past 15 years.

In that 15 years they have had 'Balanced Budgets" & in the past 10 years have paid 80 - 90 Billion on the Government Deficit.

Sound socialist or Republican to you?
Yes we have Gay marriage--so do you.
It is a world wide phenomenon indicative of the end time more than a particular President.

Remember I said that this board was "Bi-Polar?"

Is God coming back?
Yes!
Are things going to go to pot first?
Yes, most likely.
Will Christians face hardships & yes persecution?
Probably.

So, if that is happening, there is not "much" we can do about it.
We can sit and mope or we can try to build a Church with people redeemed for God, knowing that this whole Earth is under God's Judgment!

Act 1:6 When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
Act 1:7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.

Hate to sound negative, but I am certain it will happen here.

It'll take a little time, but that's the direction we'll be going with a liberal controlled White House, Senate, House, Federal judiciary, and Supreme Court.

Brother, as involed as you have been in the US election you didn't know about this?

Did the bill pass?

Canada at this very moment is in the middle of a moral crisis. For many years now gay activists with the help of the media have systematically undermined the traditional Christian view of homosexuality. Historically, Canadians, influenced by Christianity and Judaism, and more recently by Islam and Sikhism have believed that homosexual practice was immoral. But very soon it may be a criminal offense in Canada to preach, teach, or publish negative commentary about homosexuality.

On May 29, 2002 Svend Robinson?s private members initiative, Bill C-415, passed second reading in the House of Commons. This bill if passed into law would in effect criminalize public criticism of homosexuality (certain exceptions supposedly being allowed) and produce a serious chilling effect on the public discussion of this serious moral issue. Gwen Landolt, Vice-President of REAL Women of Canada is convinced that Bill C-415 will become law, and she sees this as a watershed issue for Canadians on the same level of importance as the imposition of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Has it become law?
Many bills die on the order paper before becoming law.
We just had a federal election & everything that does not have Royal Assent
will die on the order paper.

Private members bills very rarely become law.

BTW, you have Gay Marriage in the States too.
