How Low Do You Go........

....before turning on the heat?

I'm trying to hold out - - it's 68 in here right now.

I love to sleep when it's cold, but just sitting around it's a bit nippy on my nose.

get you a remote control portable heater. that way you can get a shot of heat with the click of a button w/o having to even get up and heat the whole house

Portable heaters scare me. I'm sure there are safe ones, but it seems winter fires are always started by space heaters.

That's due to peoples' carelessness - you're a safe responsible person.

get a good brand

It's pretty cold here and has been for a couple weeks, so my heat's been on.

My furnace needs work, and I'm waiting on the landlady to call him. In addition, I have to get weatherstripping tomorrow to line my front door with.

rgcraig 11-10-2008 08:23 PM

Re: How Low Do You Go........

My front door wasn't staying shut unless I used the deadbolt. They came and realigned the door so that it stays shut, BUT.....now there's a crack at the top and air is just flowing through that crack.

I'll have to call them again to fix that. Surely, I can have it stay shut and no crack too.

Most of the heaters now have tipping safety features. Mine will shut off the moment they start to tip over. It's nice with the animals, since they knock things over.

My front door is warped, so the bottom is open while the top is sealed.

But the inside door has quite the gap in it. I'm glad I'm moving out of here in a few months!

It's suppose to get colder here this week.

I'll probably turn my heat on when it hits 66 in here - - that's just too chilly if you aren't under the down covers!

Re: How Low Do You Go........

Even when I turn the heat on, I try my best not to turn the heat up above 65. And we turn it down to about 62 at night and just snuggle. I'm cheap. I hate high gas bills!

Does anyone else enjoy the smell when you first turn your heat on?

That burnt dust smell that reminds you of when you were young and it was getting cold outside?

... and many have heat sensors that will shut down if you throw a towel or something over them.

I don't try to hold out at all. If it goes below 70 I turn the heat on.

I'm still suffering after having turned the AC off (cuz I'm too poor to pay for it right now!). It's still getting to 80 or more in my apartment (what I kept the ac set at).

I usually keep the heat set to 50 in the winter, but I'm in an apartment and it never got that cold inside in Idaho, I can't imagine it'll even get close in Texas.

I keep my apt 75-78 degrees pretty much year round. I don't really like much AC but I can't live without my heat. I love to be warm and cozy:friend

Blessings, Rhoni

I've been turning ours on in the morning long enough to knock the chill out of the house. Jon is hot natured so he turns it off when I leave.

It can happen nahkoe. We even get snow and ice storms here.
