WD-40 (Interesting Uses)
Ken East (one of the original founders) says there is nothing in WD-40 that would hurt you...'It is made from fish oil.'
When you read the 'shower door' part, try it. It's the first thing that has ever cleaned that spotty shower door. If yours is plastic, it works just as well as glass. Then try it on your stovetop. Sherri,
I think the WD-40 folks are not endorsing all of those listed. I see Numbers 5-9 removed, among others. http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/household/wd-40.asp |

Re: WD-40 (Interesting Uses)
Yeah, I was wondering who was spraying the cows.:D

Re: WD-40 (Interesting Uses)
WD-40 is also suspect for making the liner turn loose on the inside top of your car. Spray your car door hinges with it and some of it drifts up to the headliner.

Re: WD-40 (Interesting Uses)
Sister Sherri be very cool with good old WD-40. If heat or spark comes it's farmable. If I have an old motorcycle that hasn't run in a while I remove the plugs and squirt the WD-40 down the spark plug holes install the plugs, and start it up. WD-40's main ingredient is kerosene. So be careful with its use.

Re: WD-40 (Interesting Uses)
Actually, the main ingredient in WD-40 is Stoddard Solvent - mainly hexane, similar to kerosene.

Re: WD-40 (Interesting Uses)
Well it does work on the love bug problem. Those little suckers are so hard to remove from your car but the WD 40 takes them right off.

Supposedly BB King had a unique way of lubricating his strings before he played. I heard he would always eat a mess of fried chicken, and would use its grease to lubricate his fingers and strings. I don't know if it's true or not, but if it is, it sure would beat WD-40! It also might work better at scaring off those pigeons! :heeheehee |
Re: WD-40 (Interesting Uses)
Finger ease is what you need for guitar picking.

Re: WD-40 (Interesting Uses)
According to what I've heard, Earl Scruggs always put a little of his hair tonic on his banjo strings before he played the banjo. Not sure what kind of hair tonic he used.

Re: WD-40 (Interesting Uses)
as far as using wd 40 on guitars,,,,the petroleum distillates are not good for the wood nor its finishes...Finger Ease is a silicone based product I think...I prefer baby powder on the back of a finished (polyurathane) neck....smells good too!!!!

Re: WD-40 (Interesting Uses)
I got that email a few weeks ago and thought, wow!, but I just filed it for "later".
My sil sends tons of emails that are too good to be true. |
Re: WD-40 (Interesting Uses)
You can fix anything with WD-40 and duct tape.
If it is supposed to move and doesn't--- use WD-40 If it moves and is not supposed to-----use duct tape : Winston Churchill. |
Re: WD-40 (Interesting Uses)
WD-40 was outstanding in Iraq on my M-4.
Cleans and lubricates very well, without attracting as much dust as CLP. Of course, we were advised to not use WD-40, but I think that the military higher ups make things more difficult than what they have to be just because. I would NEVER put WD-40 on a burn, that goes against all common sense. |
Re: WD-40 (Interesting Uses)
All that and no saving virtue in WD-40...what-a-waste
