Helping people
Let's get real people. The truth sets us free. Don't let people tell you that it is gossip. I believe lies are from hell, but the truth is from God. If you tell people the truth in order to help them, then you shouldn't close a thread out of fear that you will be labeled as gossiping!!
I have been a church member, holiness, oneness, the whole nine yards for 30 years and I am sick and tired of preachers intimidating the saints and making them feel that if they share a negative experience it will discourage people. Kind of looks like how they treated the slaves and didn't want them educated because then they would know better!!! I have a lot to say!! A lot of good and a lot of TRUTH that may not go down well. I have found this forum and I just don't know if it will be legal for people to really voice their experiences. TRUTH does help people. The river named DE NIAL will not help anyone. |

John 8:32
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. I WANNA BE FREE |
Re: Helping people
Well thank you for welcoming me!
It seems like the biggest taboo is the subject of preachers and evangelists. As a UPC member, I used to think that the leaders screened most preachers and I found that if you ever had a question about something one of them said, it was met with; you better be careful walking there sister, touch not mine annointed. I took this for several years, I watched my children get called out of their pew, called out on sins that were suspected of them, I was called out, my husband was called out. Finally I realized that all of us are God's annointed. It came to me one day, because I knew how sincere and faithful my family was, that these preachers better watch out from touching God's annointed. There was a particular evangelist who was really good at calling out people. He would say good things, claiming he had heard from God when actually he had heard it over dinner, or say bad things to put the fear of God in the young people, leaving them wonder how he knew. I personally witnessed him getting information about young people and then claiming over the pulpit he received it from God. We the people are God's annointed. |
Re: Helping people
Sounds like you need to find a new church.
My pastor said one time, "I will stand up here and preach and teach the Word of God as He gives me to teach, what my congregation does with that knowledge after they walk out the door is between them and God." Its not the pastors place to call out anything over the pulpit. Not specifically anyway. Now he has made mention over the pulpit of something that maybe the church as a whole was guilty of. BTW: Im UPC |
Re: Helping people
I realize that if you don't like what is going on there is always the door to come and go as you please. And we have done that. At great sacrifice. We have been from UPC to Apostolic and back. We've seen church splits and everything. The hardest thing for me is finding that everywhere I go, it is NOT encouraged to be outspoken if you are not a preacher or a preacher's wife. It is NOT ok to disagree.

so on that note shall I begin ? Just what are you saying here.. UPC is not Apostolic ?:digging |
Re: Helping people
A particular evangelist is more politically correct. I understand. Hopefully you all now know how it feels to be hushed even in private. Thank you though for allowing the main point I was trying to say.

Re: Helping people
If you really want to help people, don't get on this my church, that church ideal. Be a christian and others will feel it. I'm so tired of looking at christians and feeling no christianity.

Pastors and evangelists are people too. I just pray for a right spirit with God. |

Re: Helping people
That is exactly the point. We are all people. Just some preachers use the pulpit to manipulate an audience by intimidation. It is very dangerous to use the pulpit this way.

Thankfully I have not had the priviledge of meeting to many like this myself. Thank God. |
Re: Helping people
No, there are some really sincere people behind the pulpits. But one apple can spoil the whole bunch.
The main point I am trying to make with this thread is that people need to be given the right to say what they see is wrong without fear of condemnation or that they have trampled on some holy ground. I've often thought that it would be so nice for there to be more of a councilling atmosphere not just a shut up and listen to me place. I wish I would hear from so many that I know have been through what I have been through. Don't worry I am not trying to discourage people. The people that are discouraged are the ones that no one listens to. |

I am sure we all know a lot of them but what makes it so wonderful is to know there are many that are true blue and love God with all their heart... Both crowds have always joined the party...wheat and tares.... |
