Thanksgiving- December 4, 2008

Tonight is my Thanksgiving Day. I've always heard it said, "better late than never". And thats especially true tonight. So... tonight, I am having my Thanksgiving Dinner. Why am I sharing this with you? Because, well, because it was of one of our AFF members who has made this dinner possible.

A little background: I didn't have a Thankgiving Dinner like everyone else. I'm not doin holidays this year, so I declined any and all invitations for dinner. But someone in our family said they would bring me a plate and come visit with me Thanksgiving evening. They never came- and I haven't heard as yet why they didn't show up. So dinner on Thanksgiving day was a can of Beef Stew. I shared this here on AFF and someone said something about "sweet tater casserole". I love "sweet tater casserole, with the little marsh mellows, and pecans."

Well, this evening, I came home from work and, on my front porch is a package. Inside was some turkey and a tupperware bowl of "sweet tater casserole"! Sent to me by one of my friends here on AFF!

And, I'm thankful. I'm thankful for turkey and sweet tater casserole. I'm thankful for how God has been close to my side throughout this rough year because He still hasn't failed me. I am thankful for you.... my friends.... no, my AFF Family... who have prayed with me, cried with me, called or PMed when I really needed someone to talk to I'm thankful for your many kindnesses everything you have done from praying to sending cards. I can't list names- theres too many. I'm thankful for each of you.

And I'm thankful for a sister in Tennessee who is so thoughtful to share her Thanksgiving Dinner with me. A few days a part maybe, but... right on time. I won't tell who it is... (though it wouldn't take a lot of work to figure it out)- I'll just say thank you. You've just made my year. And I pray God will bless you.

And now.... excuse me while I go eat.

I know who it was......

This post also made me cry.

God always takes care of us.... and he uses special "angels" to do it sometimes. :)

I do too, and I think she will have little more stored up for her on the other side because of this kindness! :christmasfire

Am I understanding that someone MAILED you food? :gift However you got it, it was a wonderful gesture and I could probably guess who sent it. Friends are awesome, even if they are "imaginary".

OA, I appreciate your attitude these past couple of years.
You have shown an excellent grateful attitude through some very heavy & trying times!

God Bless!

OA- So glad you got your Turkey dinner. I know this has to be a rough time of year for you, but hopefully AFF little acts of kindness have helped in a small way.

Oh, did I tell everyone? I didn't get to eat lunch today. Could really go for some good BBQ. PM for the address to send it to.

Well, it worked once. Can't blame a guy for tryin'....:gotcha

Aww, that is so nice!! Got me choked up there....

But I have to ask like Sherri. Was it mailed??

You're right. This forum is full of some of the best people in the whole world!

But please tell us how this food was mailed to you? If you share that information, more of us might be interested in helping fatten you up, dear brother. But I'm thinking that if you got food from Ohio, it'd be nasty by the time it got to Alabama!

Yes, it was Fed Exed in a cooler pack. And it was gooooood! Mighty fine. No... wasn't from Sherri. I so want to tell who sent it but, since Sherri played Nancy Drew, I figure anyone else could do the same.

Was it male or female?

P. S. Not the dinner, but the person who sent it.

Now, thats kinda obvious, don't cha think? No man would ever think to put in in a cooler thingy. They'd cram it in an envelope, wrap some duct tape around it and hope for the best!

Hmmm, well, Timmy has been contributing to part of the decorating themes one of the Christmas threads. He may have advanced in the cooking area - cooler thingy included. I told him he was taking a strange turn. Next thing you know, he'll be wearing a frilly apron!!! :toofunny

After reading all the posts (reference "Memphis Area") of course it is OBVIOUS that someone from The SOUTH would mail food. It's what a "Good Suthuner" does! LOL

It was such a thoughtful thing to do!

Hi Beth in KY. Quick question: Does Bud Tingle still have his church there?

And yes, there are some mighty "thoughty" people on AFF.

Well, FedExing is a bit different than mailing - lol!

It probably is a Suthuner thing though!
