OJ Simpson gets 15-20 years minimum in prison
 

The judge excoriated Simpson and and threw the book at him. Both were denied bail. With all the counts and some being concurrent and some consecutive it was difficult to figure the exact time. Minimum 15 years mandatory for kidnapping though and minimum 5 years before eligible for parole. The judge said he acted 'stupidly'.

They're doing the math and say he was sentenced to 48 total years, most of them run concurrently. They're saying he'll be eligible for parole in 9 years.

I wonder if the Goldman family will move on now? Or is their bitterness rooted too deeply?

Ok, I guess I jumped the gun when I said she 'threw the book at him'. They're saying it was a fairly light sentence even though he judge pretty much threw him under the bus. The Parole Board recommended 18 years before allowed probation.

Fred Goldman and his daughter Kim just gave a statement. He sounded very bitter and spiteful, called OJ a 'monster' and an 'SOB' and he was thankful that OJ did this so that he could be put in jail 'with people like him'. There is no closure in this for the Goldman family. People in the crowd were booing and heckling them during their statement.

It is just too sad. As much as I understand the Goldman family wanting justice, sometimes it just doesn't happen the way we want it to.

He seemed surprised he got convicted. He said I didn't know I did anything wrong. I think he believed he would not be found guilty.

I think OJ is a sick man who thought he was above the law. The Goldman's kept the pressure on him until he made a mistake. It is hard to put myself in the Goldman's place, because I have never lost someone to murder. I do think they need to try to come to a place of forgiveness and peace.
