IF.......

you could have 3 things for Christmas what would they be? Now before you start "rattling" off your lists, lets think about the world and the shape it is in. What's really important to you, anymore?

Hoovie's thread about his daughter and her gift for Jesus really spawned this idea and thread.

My husband and children are the Most Important in the world to me, my decision would affect them so I need to put that into the equation (maybe this thread needs to be for just me)

Let me see......

1. No more violence or evil
2. Peace (the spirit of peace, actually)
3. TRUE LOVE...by that I mean, love that is given absolutely unconditional. Like a love to a child. No matter what they do, they are still your child and that love NEVER goes away. You may not like what they do, but you still love your child, no matter even how bad they hurt you, you still love them.

I think that would be the top 3 things on my list for "SANTA" to bring me.

What say ye??????

( I reserve the right to change mine, if someone comes up with something better than mine........:santathumb)

That the whole world would be reconciled to Jesus!

Margies3 12-09-2008 08:52 AM

Re: IF.......

1) a spirit of love and compassion to come over the world. The kind of compassion that would force us to consider others needs to be more important than our own.

2) an end to hunger, abuse, disease, meanness and all the other rotten things that the devil and sin brought into our world with the fall.

3) people all over the world to know who Jesus is and what He has done for them.

Those are my three dream wishes.

Now if I can't have those, then I'll just settle for:

1) enough money to pay off all our bills including our mortgage and to send both of our sons to college paid in full

2) I could use a really great vacation - maybe a month or two in the Caribbean. That'd be nice

3) I'd really love a new room built on my house and filled with all of the very latest and greatest in computer equipment and photographic equipment.

So if anyone wants to fill anything on my second list, feel free to PM me. I'll send you my full name and address. :santaclaus

I'm going to leave off the things we will have in heaven....who doesnt yearn for those things, but they are the promise that we all await.

but here on earth?
1. complete healing for my son.
2. An end to the pain I live with every day.
3. That we could all re-find that sense of wonder my 4 year old has.

Those are good choices, Ferd.

I think we'd all take #1 along with you :hug3:merrychristmas

In fact, I think that that would be plenty of gift. We wouldn't need anything else at all.

Re: IF.......

- That the Lord would return (and come down my chimney) and take me away with Him!

- That another Great Awakening would come to this world, and people would turn toward Christ, abandoning the culture of materialism and selfishness that we battle.

- Oh, and a brand-new Pioneer in-dash Satellite Radio/Apple iPod/CD Player/GPS receiver for my truck!

Re: IF.......

Ok, I'm changing my list completely. Here's what I want......

1) For Ferd's baby boy to be healed completely.

2) for Sis Alvear to have all the funding she needs and ever will need. Enough so that she will never have to do "fund raising" again and instead can just be about the business God has called her to in Brasil.

3) ok, if I can't have either of those things, can I at least have enough money to fund my kids college educations? LOL

Re: IF.......

That I could help an old pastor that wrote me today asking for help on the church he is building.
That I could have money to buy a present for all the poor kids all over the world for Christmas.
That I could have the grace to love my enemies without praying for the love to come to my heart...just I could love them whatever they do...so I guess that would mean to be more Christlike...

And many other wishes....

Sister Alvear 12-09-2008 11:15 AM

Re: IF.......

Thanks for remembering me...I wish you all the very best...happiness, health and heaven. Those 3 important H words....

I do have one selfish wish. sorry I cant help myself.

Lets just say it would look like a Willams Sonoma or a Sur Le Table or a Viking Store! LOL!

Re: IF.......

Oh Ferd, you would LOVE my BIL's house in St. Louis.

It's an old home built in the 1800's and the owners before him were gourmet cooks. He has a huge Vicking stove/oven. Beautiful cabinetry and counter tops AND a ROOM that was the original kitchen that was converted to a pantry/storage room.

Next time I go, I'll take pictures!

It will just make me sick with envy and I will have to repent! LOL!

1. That I could have the love of Jesus and see people through His eyes.

2. That I could have the gift of healing to pray the prayer of faith and see all healed, like Jack and Frank.

3. To have wisdom to know what to do with the power of God and understanding of His Word.

Re: IF.......

I have many altruistic wishes for the world at large, I know that we all do. However... :snowing

My selfish nature rears it's ugly head and I admit that my biggest real wish, is that God would give me the necessary energy and strength to go back to school this coming year while continuing to hold down a full time job. It is completely necessary for me to do this if I am going to be able to adjust to the changes that are coming my way in the next few years, and in my current condition health wise, it doesn't seem possible. So, this is my grown-up Christmas Wish!! :praying

(oh, and a fancy new camera would not be snubbed either...) :christmoose

More of Jesus.
Lost loved ones to be saved.
Better health for me, and some of my family.

Re: IF.......

Sad to say, I just don't have any personal ones this year. In fact I am still having a tough time wrapping my brain around the fact that it is the season too be jolly and it caught me unawares. So, You guys can have my wishes:

1 - All FERDS requests
2 - All Sis Alvears
3 - All everyone elses

I do want an iPod touch, but that isn't a wish... I am buying it in the next few days :-)

As for the spiritual ones, those are there at all times I guess.

Re: IF.......

Try as I might I don't have any grand wishes either. I'd wish for world peace, harmony among Apostolics, and an end to world hunger... but none of that can happen until Christ returns. I guess I could wish that he would return but I think there's still work to do.

So my wishes might sound selfish or carnal. I'm a hopeless romantic. I'd like...

1.) A vacation to a ski resort in the French Alps with my lovely lady
2.) A bottle of fine wine, perhaps a bottle of Chateauneuf-du-Pape
3.) A little romance under the mistletoe in the soft glow of a Christmas tree, with the snow falling silently outside, and Let It Snow playing down low in the background.
