WHAT??? A "Pro Life Pastor???????????????????????????????

Would you do this ???

What do you think?

Pro-Life Rick Warren to Give Invocation at Obama Inauguration
December 17, 2008

Pro-life pastor Rick Warren will give the invocation at President-Elect Barack Obama’s inauguration. It makes a whole lot of sense. Even though Warren and Obama disagree on the life issue, they do see eye to eye on many social justice issues. This move is also classic Obama because it is a signal to religious conservatives that he’s willing to bring in both sides to the faith discussion in this country. Obama has never shied away from that.

The benediction will be led by Reverend Dr. Joseph E. Lowery. The Civil Rights leader seems to be the perfect pick on such an historic day in this nation’s history. Watch Reverend Lowery preach with Barack Obama watching here.

The full program is below: (by the way, The Brody File was not asked to take part in the ceremony. I wanted to read some of the "Best of The Brody File" blog entries but they said thanks but no thanks)

Of course he would get an invitation, he's one of the most influential pastors in America, if not THE most influential. It'd be dumb NOT to invite him, especially since he hosted a debate at his church.

I'd do the invocation. What an honor. Believe the President or not. Daniel didn't believe like Nebuchanezzar.

But shouldn't it be Jeremiah Wright or Otis Moss??

HE SAID they were the most influencial preachers in HIS LIFE

Good one. For that matter, why wasn't it Louis Farry-Conman.

I wish Rick Warren would get the HG, then while he prays for BO, he grabs him by the head in old time Apostoic fassion and shakes the HG into the fellow.... along with some good sense concerning supreme court justices.

I think Rick is slowly skirting to the liberal side. He's probably already there but has to make this a slower process for the sake of his ministry base

Agree with this.

I think that he will have to realize that he is in a no-win situation with some people and just pretty much get over it. If he picks a Wright/Farrakan type person he'll get roasted...then when he doesn't he gets roasted.

True. But I'd like to think he'll take the roasting from the Wright/Farahkan crowd over the alternative.

My point is that many of those who oppose him are just going to oppose him no matter what. I'm talking about the same group of people criticizing no matter which direction he would have gone with this. It's just the nature of the beast I guess.

Yup, nature of being President. Ask Bush. He got beat up on all sides. If he made a compromise on an energy bill with the dems, it was shoved in his face the next time around. If he compromised with the Dems for an Aids bill to Africa, costing more than we can afford, he got no appreciation except what entitlists give someone, a smirk. And his own party? LIBERAL SPENDER! haha!

This is just the beginning for Obama.

Stew, no one is attacking BHO for choosing RW. just wondering why when RW was not influencial in his life. Furthermore, RW is supposedly a conservative evangelical.

Re: *SHOCK* Rick Warren 2 give Invocation@Inaugera

I think the attack of the poster was more on RW. But personally, I'd have accepted the invite and led the best invocation and prayer I could put together.

I'm not saying that he was being attacked, but if he had chosen a Farrakhan he would be questioned...then if he chooses a conservative evangelist, he will get questioned as to why he didn't choose a Farrakhan. Like I said I guess it's just the nature of the beast and something he'll have to live with.

Yea that is true - the attack was on RW but a lot of people are very touchy about anything that's said of OHB ( i wont mention any names)

I'm just making a general observation...not just based on this thread alone. I have been to busy to post a lot recently, but this is just my impression on a number of things that I have been reading. It's not anything new or unique to Obama of course...like I said I guess it's just the nature of the beast.

However, it is not questioning Rick to wonder why Obama didn't choose someone else.

Maybe Kurt Carr or Hezekiah can dedicate a song to him on that day? Of course sandwiched in between a worship chorus.

I dont think Rick has any intention of getting into the politics at all.

I think he fully plans on just being a spiritual leader to Americas leaders.

I am not suggesting that is either a good or bad thing. I just think that is what he is doing.

Mark...I was very clear that I did not think he was being attacked on this thread. I was also very clear that my opinion was in general and was my overall impression of how he is in a no-win situation with some people and that either way he would go on some issues would be questioned by the same people. I'm not sure how else I can say it.

I think he's become a little too controversial. He's starting a TV talk show on CBS and becoming way more socially liberal - that might fit in with BHO don't you think ?? :santathumb

Saw something on YouTube about TD's softening stance on homosexuality. Hope it was just more lies from YouTube. They played some things he said though. Even though he may not be endorsing homosexuality, he certainly is softening up.

And now the fury....

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1208/16693.html

How can Obama have a Christian man pray that doesn't condone homosexuality? Amazes me... even Wright is against homosexuality!

2020Vision 12-17-2008 05:44 PM

Re: *SHOCK* Rick Warren 2 give Invocation@Inaugera

“Can you imagine if he had a man of God doing the invocation who had deliberately said that Jews are not going to be saved and therefore should be excluded from what’s going on in America? People would be up in arms,” he said.

Wow. Is our logic getting to this level? I didn't know being a Jew was a sin. I do know that homosexuality is sinful. Love it. Tstew was right. lose-lose.
