I Got Fired.....
...well, I will when my wife founds out about it.
My wife is coming home about nine o'clock tonight & I get to cook. I ask my wife, "what should I feed them?" She replies, "food!" I think she didn't finish school! Nevertheless, I am going to cook--"Hamburger Helper!" The patron saint of Bachelors & Dad's that don't cook! Anyways, I brown up the Hamburger add the seasoning water & milk, bring to a boil while stirring, then bring the heat down to a simmer & let it sit for a bit while stirring occasionally. I yell, "Soooeeeee, I mean, kids dinner is served!" Meanwhile, I say to myself, "man this is pretty thin, it is like soup!" A light bulb goes off & I am saying, "ya didn't put the noodles in dummy!" Thank goodness my kids have a sense of humour!:santathumb I am not so sure about my wife unit!:christmoose |
Re: I Got Fired.....
I absolutely HATE hamburger helper. Nasty stuff.

I have never eaten Hamburger Helper and have no desire to either.

Re: I Got Fired.....
Eddie refuses to eat any main dish that comes from a box. I actually like some of it, but never fix it.

Re: I Got Fired.....
AND - P.S. - thanks for scaring us all by thinking you lost your job!!!! I was feeling all sorry for you right here at Christmas time.

Re: I Got Fired.....
My wife just shook her head & laughed, I think she is used to it!:christmoose
BTW Sherri, sorry for giving misleading signals, I just thought the thread title would get people to read it--it did!:santathumb |
Re: I Got Fired.....
I used to fix Hamburger Helper once in a while for our kids when my wife was away. I actually like a couple of different kinds of it but we haven't had it for many, many years.

Re: I Got Fired.....
Some of the ladies on this forum are clearly the exceptions to the rules as they don't appear to do the box thing.
I think that a lot of the health issues in America are because families eat out of a box. I have often said... if you want to sell something to a woman then here is the mantra you have to meet. They will buy it if it can fulfill this one thought. "Make it look like I did... but i didn't"
The list goes on and on. If you want to attract a womans business... sell something that makes it look like they did something... but they really didn't. You will be rich. I figured one of Ron's threads would be as good a place as any to post this as he is always in trouble anyway. :) |

We never have a meal pass that we do not thank the cook for the good meal. Never a day passes that I do not tell my wife I love her and that she is beautiful and I still whistle when she walks across the room. I thank her for clean clothes etc. I also do these things on my own as well when the opportunity arises because saying thank you is one thing but taking ones own responsibility for these things from time to time really seem to "do a woman good". It not only says thank you but it says I do not view you as the only person in this house that does these things. I completely agree that years of thankless work that goes unappreciated and unnoticed will take the "want to" out of anybody. Thanks for making the point. It is not understood by far too many spouses. |

its not that my husband is unappreciative - he's just like most men, or so I hear from other women....he's not consistent. Which shocks me b/c most men, I think, need verbal affirmation from their spouse that they do a good job, they are a good husband, father etc. but they forget and just take for granted all that goes into keeping a family together.... and sadly children are picking up on that same attitude |

It is a common mail malfunction. One that does not come natural but once some time and effort have been put into making it part of who they are it can be overcome. I wish more would. It is easy. It works. And it not only lets her know that you appreciate all she does but it continually reminds me of that appreciation as well and keeps it upfront in our minds. |

but I too have a hard time TELLING him anything. Seriously. I should reaffirm my feelings to him verbally, but I dont. I know good and well if I did, it would solve 100% of the little things that just irritate me to the point of resentment. But I dont do it. call it stubborn, pride, lazy, scared, shy - I dont know...but if I'd do it, it would fix just about anything and everything I can say is "wrong" in my relationship. |

In situations like this my prayer includes statements like "If I had it within myself to do this it would have already been done... Help me Lord, in yet another area of my life, to be more like you and less like me" It sounds like a worthy goal. |
