" BRO HANEY GOT A JAG "
This Is The Real Reason That They Got Bro Haney A Brand New Jaguar ! |

Not sure if you are referring to the black one or not but I didn't think it was new. |
The blessings of the Lord maketh RICH and adds NO SORROW to it.
Preachers complain about being poor, but when God blesses a preacher they are all over him like flies on a cow patty... |
Well, I've put my request in to my husband for a Jag (someday...over the rainbow....)
Hope folks don't judge us too harshly when he gives me the car of my dreams. :D (Probably for my 80th Birthday!) |
By that time you'll be able to afford to pay someone to drive it for you.

The Jag should look nice parked next to all the Mercedes, BMW's and Cadilac's in WEC parking lot.
|
I think that as long as a pastor is not burdening the people he pastors with his lifestyle or taxing the church finances, he should live as comfortably as he feels the Lord would have him to.
My wife and I have some nice things. However, we are some of the most extensive bargain shoppers you can imagine. If something is not a bargain, I rarely buy it. For me, a "Jag" would probably be over the edge as would a Mercedes or a Hummer. Firstly, the maintenance would be too costly for me when it needed it. The sports car I drive (Mazda Miata) is one of the most reliable sports cars out there. Other than oil changes, I only had to replace 1 $35 part on my old one after 75K miles. I'm sure Bishop Haney can afford the maintenance, and I say, "You go, Bro. H!!! Straighten out some of those California roads for me!!!" |

If you are referring to the black one........ no it is not new. It was purchased for Brother and Sister Haney by the saints of Christian Life Center in November of 2001 - in celebration of their 40th wedding anniversary and 30 years of pastoring. So it is over six years old. :tiphat
Now.... if he has another one.... that one I know nothing about. :tiphat |
I was thinking driving Miss Dizzy... lol

Good for Brother Haney. Maybe the good Lord is blessing him abundantly.
|
I was at the Celebration...and can vouch for SP... it was a gift.. and Sis. Haney had always dreamed of having as best my memory can recall.. SO the church bought her one!!
It was a Great Night!! |
I believe preachers have every right to own the finest cars, the finest homes, the finest clothes, and all the possessions that one could be blessed with...then feel convicted about preaching against jewlery and cultural separation to those folks who can barely afford to buy 2 ply toilet paper.
:winkgrin |
I would be happy with a buggy upgrade. No chrome though. That would be bad.

ROTF, LOL :grampa I Started This Thread As " T I C " AND I Thought " If anyone" saw the photo that I posted of the OLD vehicle depicting their arrival " Old Saint Louie " They Would Know That ANY CAR PRESENTED T O THEM WOULD BE CONSIDERED NEW !; {thus explaining another reason for the $25} Bishop1 :beatdeadhorse |
If anybody ought to be convicted it's preachers who drive topless!!!!!:uhoh
in there Devilertibles!!!! (translated Convertables) :D |

Mind you, it's just a "twinge" not full blown conviction. :happydance |

So if the one you are referring to is not new, it most likely is the one bought by CLC as a going away present. |
I'll take a jag if any of you nice folks will buy me one ,I think CC1 is loaded.

My pastor drives a mini van but now that he has a new younger wife perhaps he will upgrade!!!
|
I think the haney's were well deserving.
The people saw the labor& hard work, the modest lifestyle they lived and wanted to bless them after 30 years. Good going CLC! |

I can't imagine the Haneys going out and buying a new Jag. Wouldn't fit with the spirit of these people. |

come on Carp. don't shadow box your unfortunate experience with ALL preachers. I understand where u are coming from but in this instance I know they were deserving and didn't bribe people into doing it either |
Who cares?
The MSRP for a 2008 Limited Edition Chrysler Town & Country is $37K. I purchased a slightly used (less than 6 months old with 6,000 miles) Jaguar X-type for $26,500. It also came with a 6 yr, 100,000 mile warranty. Nobody would raise an eyebrow at a pastor owning a limited edition town & country or several other cars in the same price range. But because the "Jag" has a name that's recognized as a luxury car people start pointing fingers. You can't always judge a book buy it's cover. |

Thad, how can a preacher preach true and unadulterated separation and yet demand to drive a car that has chrome wheels, or leather, or a luxury name plate, etc...? I have said before pastors with big names and in big cities (to whom most of this applies) can live in a castle and be driven around in a 24 carat solid gold Lexus limousine for all I care and really it is a blessing to them...it only becomes a problem if the cultural climate in his church is such that blue collar people feel like someone is taking their lamb to the slaughter while the minister's fields are full of sheep. |
I could careless what the guy drives, just don’t ask me to make your payments on the thing!:ignore
|
Hey, I've got a Jag. Anyone want to buy it? They are really not that expensive if you are buying an used one. They depreciate fairly fast. A new one would probably be in the 40,000 range. A fully loaded large size SUV can
be that much. The expense in a Jag is in the maintenance. If you have to have it repaired it can be expensive. |
For now my 90 Chevy Lumina will have to do.

floats down the road. I hate it when people think it's a big deal because it's a Jag or a Mercedes; it costs a lot less than one of those big old trucks that men buy to hunt in! |

A CROSSOVER ? :grampa Bishop1 :beatdeadhorse |

Hmmm...I went to one UPC church for 13 years. It was a daughter work that we grew to over 400. Yeap! The whole time my family and I was there it was give all your tithes and all your offerings. Don't ask me how I spend them, either. None of your business! It was preached that saints are not supposed to have any land or savings or investments! We are supposed to give all to God. (Although, God did not get it.) We can't take it with us he would say. Yet, he and his wife drive two $50,000 vehicles that they trade in every year. So the vehicles are never more than a year old. They live in a $1 million dollars home. Are always gone to every conference and we have to take up offerings to pay the visiting preachers. |
The Jag was bought for him by CLC when he resigned to come to HQ.
