Daughter Announces Engagement

Our daughter, Lauren has announced her engagement to Nathan. He took her to dinner Sunday evening then to their favorite park where he had decorated their tree with luminaries hanging in fruit jars, this is where he asked her.

Then he surprised her completely by having about 40 friends and family at his apartment with hot chocolate, symores and other goodies, to celebrate the event. Wedding to be in the spring.

BTW, Nathan has passed my rigorous interview process with background checks and all. He had met with Lauren's mother and me about three weeks earlier.

I wasn't surprised in the least when I saw Crakjak's announcement of Lauren
and Nathan's engagement on our BIG family website this morning. We had met
Nathan this summer at our Annual B----- Family Memorial Day Reunion (an annual
event we started to honor our parents after our Mom passed on. (Dad had passed
ten years earlier.)

They just seemed so right together, not even counting the way Lauren would
look at him! She never seemed interested in guys before, that we had noticed.
She just hadn't met the right one, that's all.:nod

We are happy for Lauren and Nathan and pray the very best for them as they
look to the future together, in Jesus Name!

Hugs,

Aunt Falla39

He shares my name. Nathan

I had a friend who got married when he was 40.

In doing so he asked me what would be a good way of knowing his future wife was clear..

I told him to share his finances and his credit report with her and see if she would do the same.

She was so floored that he was willing to show her his finances.

She turned around and shared her's with him.

They were both worth a total of almost 1 million...

It worked out well...

Thank you all for your kind words, we now have a date of April 25, 2009 for the wedding. Plans are developing for a outdoor wedding with a large white tent on the Coventry/Restoration Church property. Will post some engagement party pictures as soon as I remember how to do it.

And it is especially nice that they are not waiting 1 - 1 1/2 years for the wedding day. :)
(Once we decided to get married, I think it was about 3 months until it happened.)

Thanks, and I agree, since they are 23 and 24, and have been courting for about a year, I see no reason to wait.

They both have graduated and have excellent professional jobs, Lauren is a RN, and Nathan is a graphic artists, and they both believe the Lord has affirmed their future together.

We are very happy with their relationship.

Re: Daughter Announces Engagement

Wow,

My daugther was married Sat. April 25, it was a beautiful day in so many ways.
I will post pictures in a few days.

The funniest thing, the wedding was outdoors under a big white tent, with about 300 guests. The bridal party walked over water on an arched bridge. Problem is that the week of the wedding a Canada Goose lays three eggs at the end of the bridge, three days before the wedding. The male, they mate and stay together their whole lives, was on duty protecting his mate and the nest. Just as the bridesmaids and groomsmen begin exiting the bridge, the photographer is shooting pictures and the gander goes airborne just over his head. The whole tent cracks up laughing. No contact, but these are huge birds and is very intimidating when they are right on top of you. Fortunately the bridal party was not harmed nor was the wedding.

Crakjak, my brother,

Lauren and Nathan's wedding was so unique and beautiful. So many unique features,
the Blessing tree you and Darlene made for them. Hugh, looked real and on each table
was a large clear vase with supposely a branch from the tree. There were cards with a
tiny ribbon attached to each to write a blessing, etc. to the couple, and hang on the
branch on the table.

Everything seemed so unique and perfect for a beautiful bride and her groom. God sent
the bright sunshine, with the weatherman assuring rain! Thank YOU, Lord God!

Hugs,

Falla39

Now that is funny!

And yes, these geese can be VERY possessive, especially if they are in a place where they are used to people being around.

Here is a pic of one of my wife's nemesis while she was going to school. Both geese are in this pic, but usually it was the male who charged her as she walked to and from her car everyday.

I woke up this morning to thunder, lightning, and some hail, O yeah, and 2-3 inches of blowing rain. Had the Lord not shown us favor, we could have had a disaster. Lauren wanted the wedding outside completely, I insisted on the tent, I am so grateful for the beautiful weather. It was exactly what Lauren and Nathan desired, "A Gathering" of friends and family, and so it was.

Congratulations! I trust no "luminaries" were hurt in this proposal? The thought of those poor distinguished men and women hanging from a tree in a jar is distressing.

Don't worry about it, trust the Lord and do your parenting and you will grow into it. When those guys that you do not approve of come around, just run them off. Not kidding!

One guy that had a rep for sleeping around asked Lauren to the high school prom (Christian school no less). She told him he would have to ask her Dad, he did and her Dad said, "Sorry, but no way!" He never pursued any further.

Nathan on the other hand passed all of my interviews, credit and background checks, and received my resounding approval. Of course, since Lauren is twenty-three, he already had her approval, therefore mine was not necessary, yet he asked anyway. LOL

Someone asked me at the wedding if it was hard with an only daughter, my response was, "...not if you love that guy that she is marrying..." That is exactly how we feel. Lauren is 23, and she is deeply in relationship with the Lord. Nathan is a perfect match for her, both were very serious about who they would marry.
