Sister Is Dying!

Please pray for I & my family if you could.
I have two older sisters, one 4 years older & one 6 years older.
My dad had Huntington's Disease & committed suicide 40 years ago.
My sister who is 48 drew the short straw & she inherited the disease.
She started showing symptoms in the early eighties & progressed to where she has been in a nursing home for the past 12 years.

Lately she has taken a turn for the worse & has developed sleep apnea.
My oldest sister who has Power of Attorney over her has requested DNR & no tube feeding as she doesn't want her suffering to be prolonged.

She was there the other day & stopped breathing for 15 seconds before beginning breathing again.
It looks like she is on her last legs.

I am supposed to be in charge of the funeral.
We want to make it to the Nursing Home before she goes but the snow is coming down in buckets.

For me, the sister I knew died a long time ago.

God Bless!

Ron

I have a neighbor who has this terrible disease. I knew her when she was well, and it is so sad to see what she has become.

I'll be praying.

Thanks for the prayers.
It is a horrible disease & even though we saw this coming a long time ago, we still aren't prepared.

Re: Sister Is Dying!

Bro. Ron,

I am so sorry and pray that the Lord would help everything to work out as far
as your sister and your family is concerned. He can make a difference.May He
give assistance in this situation, in Jesus Name!

Fifty years ago, my late father founded the church that I have been a part
of all that time.
That Sunday morning, Nov. 12, 1958, the first service of this beginning, a
young girl attended. Her mother came to the evening service. We learned
that this mother had received the Holy Ghost in 1944, in a city ten miles away.
Due to her husband's illness, Huntington's disease, called "St. Vitus' dance" back
then), she was unable to travel ten miles to the church where she had received
the Holy Ghost. She prayed that God would send someone to her small town so
she could attend the house of God. In 1958, my late father began that "house
of God" where she and her family would attend until she was unable to because
of or age and health. She and her daughter were a tremendous blessing for many
years. Her daugher married and moved away. But over the years this dear sister
lost her husband, her two sons, and the daughter (faithful unto death) with the
dreaded disease that had plagued her husband's family for decades. Huntington's
disease. One of the saddest disease's I have ever been witness to. She lost all
three of her children, and her husband, before her own death. And just this year
her late youngest son's youngest daughter,30 yrs. old. died from Huntington's
disease.
She has two more grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, who also could
inherit this disease. Her late husband's sister, who passed away two or three years
ago, an apostolic lady, never was affected by the disease. Neither was any of her
children. but his brother and his family were affected. His mother died and twenty
plus other relatives died before 1958.

God gave this dear old saint of God much grace to endure what she endured through
the years. Our city remembers this dear lady and wonders how she endured in spite
of her hardships and heavy burdens. She endured hardships as a good soldier. No doubt
her reward will be great.
He giveth more grace! And His grace is sufficient!

Blessings,

Falla39

Aww, Ron, I am so sorry to hear this. I know you have to be in terrible heart pain. I'll be praying for all of you through this. Please remember as each day comes that you are not alone. We're all here, holding your arms up when they become too weary for you to hold up on your own.

Big hugs, brother!

Your and your family are in my prayers.

As for sleep apnea, that development doesn't have to be the end all. I had that disease and I'm ok now. The same thing can happen for your sister.

My brother-

My heart goes out to you, Brother Ron. And to your family. I have never been where you are. Losing siblings has got to be hard. Know that you are in my prayers and if there is anything at all I can do..... please feel free to call on me. Just as these good folks stood with me, including you, brother, so do I stand with you.

Thanks for all your kind words of encouragement & prayers.
We got to see my sister on the way home from Church yesterday & she was having dinner & was having trouble swallowing.

I can't locate our old family album with the family pics.
Below is a pic I took from a picture on my sister's wall from when she started showing symptoms in the early eighties, & one I took last night around her bedside.
Quite the difference.

Ron, thanks for posting these pictures. I know that God knows what your sister looks like. And that's really all that's important. But it does help us to be able to put a face to the one we are praying for as well.

I'm continuing to pray for all of you. I know this has to be terribly hard.

Bro. Ron,

I am so glad you got to go by yesterday and see your dear sister. It
isn't always pleasant to see our loved ones in the situations they are in
sometimes, but I believe your visit with your sweet wife and beautiful
children was no doubt encouraging. The sweet faces of your family is
enough to brighten any day and I sure it brightened your sister's day.
May the Hand of the One who said, "I will never leave you nor forsake
you, continue to be in control, in Jesus Name.

God bless you all,

Bro. Ron,
It looks like your sister is focused on her brother's face! That is so sweet.
Sisters love their brothers. How would I know. I was raised with seven. We all
miss the one who went to be with Jesus in Sept. 2007.

Thank you for all your encouraging words & your prayers!
This has been a long time coming.
My sister & I call her the energizer bunny because she keeps going & going, but even the energizer bunny's batteries run out sooner or later.

Sad thing is, when my wife & I were dating, she taught my sister & Bible study & she came out to Church, but made no real effort to reach out to God!

Got a call from my oldest sister tonight & she was crying.
The nursing home called & my other sister who is in the nursing home has a virus & bad cough.

There is DNR on her chart.

Pray for me as I more than likely will be planning a funeral with my Pastor officiating.
