Your prayers, and maybe some support if you can...

Wow! 2008 was quite a challenging year, but I can't say that it was the beginning. For at least a couple years now, our son who just turned six has been putting mom and me through a lot of turmoil with some behavour issues. He is our second child, and we thought and hoped that the break through moment would come. When school started this year, we were told that he should be checked for AD/HD.

Long story short, they have diagnosed our son with Pervasive Developmental Disorder Not Otherwise Specified. He seems very close to having Aspergers Syndrome, but they haven't found enough characteristics to place him there yet. Nonetheless, the treatment plan will be close to that of a child with Aspergers.

I guess I'm posting this, primarily, to get your prayers, but also to see if there is anyone here who is familiar with these terms who wished to correspond with us as we work through them. As I've done research into these areas I've found that any bit of understanding I get brings with it a hundred new questions.

If you're familiar with child pshycology or AS and care to talk, please PM me and I will give you our email address.

Thanks.

You have my prayers!
My oldest was diagnosed with a speach & language disorder & only spoke a few words on her 4th Birthday.
After some treatment & much prayer she talks non stop some days & gets A'S & B'S & will be 11 this month.
My second daughter just turned 9 & went through a battery of test a couple of years ago to see if she had autism or was even on the scale.
She didn't, but she does have some Attention issues.

With a firm hand & much, much, much, prayer she is improving!

I am not in the same boat Brother but will be praying nonetheless!

If I may ask, what is your son's first name?

Brother,

As the father of three teenaged boys, I am familiar with just the basic challenges of raising sons in this generation.

I am not familiar with this particular situation, but I do know that my wife and I will be in much prayer for you and your family.

i have nephews who both have some definite issues, they both were diagnosed my sis says there is nothing wrong, but i beg to differ, i know there is something wrong, and the worst part of it she is in denial, all i have to tell you is do not be in denial, get help for your child so you can pinpoint what the problem is so you can get the right help for your child, and please do not sit here and blame your spouce or argue what side the problem came from. it can cause bitterness. find the problem- you and your spouce be in much prayer and you all can live a good life, and be patient with the child , it is easy to lose it, may the Lord bless you all.

EVERYTHING IS GONNA BE ALRIGHT

Dave,

My son, Keith, has ADHD. His psychologist recommended this website to us. I know that it deals with ADD, but if you dig deeply in it, you'll find that it also deals with alot more than just ADD. I believe I've seen things on here about Asperberger's also. I have a friend whose son has Asperberger's. He is a really great guy (he's grown up now), but will always have some different needs than the rest of society. Trust me, tho. This is not the end of the world. You will adjust and learn and your son will be fine. You'll just learn that you will love him as he is for himself. Just like you would all of your other children :) They're all individuals. His individuality is just a little more pronounced. I'll be praying for you. I know it's a struggle.

Doesn't My Own Eye's ex husband have a similar condition? She lived with him for years, so she could probably offer some insights. I'm sure she wouldn't care if you PM'd her.
