I fear that the passing of 18 years or so has caused us to forget that there was, indeed, a worse rendition of the National Anthem.

Overdone by far...

These people become performers to the point that they don't even remember how to just sing.

Just sing the song dear...(pronounce all of the consonants even)

Just stand relatively still... and sing the song. It isn't that difficult.

Overdone, lots of flat notes!!! I am not a Jessica Simpson fan at ALL!!!

...however, the "free" note was GOOD. :D

It didn't redeem the overall performance, though.

Yep... beautiful rendition.

A lot of the pop stars of today can't even really sing well. They just have so much popping music around them and their acts are so distracting with all of the dancing about that no one notices. When they have to sing a song without all the pomp & circumstance the lack of talent shines through.

Mrs Houston... The lady has real talent and can really sing. There is no doubt about it.

Well, of the four versions I've seen here, I think the Whitney Houston version was the best.

I'm not a Jessica Simpson fan but I don't think she did so badly. And she was easy on the eyes. Kids are cute at that age.

Rosanne was just crude and vulger. The clip didn't show her final Michael Jackson like gesture.

The police officer just plain messed up the words. Maybe he was nervous and forgot them. Also, he wasn't much of a singer.

I had a friend who was blind and used to sing around in the local bars. He was asked to sing the National Anthem several times at the Cincinnati Reds games. He did it with no musical accompaniment and did it well. He got saved and joined a local church and did some singing in the church. Then his wife and the choir director got together (romantically) and influenced the pastor to disfellowship him. It was quite a blow to his young faith. My wife spent quite a bit of time trying to encourage him not to give up on the Lord just because of the rotten acts and attitudes of some of His people. He died a couple of years ago from cancer.

Her mother, Cissy Houston, sang with Shirley Caesar on atleast one album in the 1970's.


It really disappoints me whenever I think of Mrs. Houston, her talent, her abilities, and the last few years of her life that she has lived SO FAR beneath her means.

May God have mercy on her and save her soul-- along with her family.
