Arrests At Bountiful

Yesterday the RCMP swooped into Bountiful, B.C. a small community on the B.C.
Idaho Border & arrested two key men & charged them with exploitation of women.
They have been investigating the sect for over 20 years but without any witnesses to come forward, they always felt thier case was weak.

What this case will do will be to drag on throughout the courts for years & years to come because of court challenges & appeals.

Ohhh, talking about how long it's going to take to resolve and the cost, maybe...

;)

Oh, I thought he was just referring to the futility of the justice system, but that's just how I read it. ;)

There was a debate recently about about the Canadian vs US justice system.
While the Canadian one is bad, it can drrrrrraaaaaaagggggg!

I dislike this being referred to as freedom of religion vs protecting women.

This should be about protecting women----period!

At least they are moving ahead.

Freedom of religion is a two edged sword.. a mixed blessing. I thank God for it though.

I misread the title, first time I saw it, as "Arrests are Beautiful". Funny, now I can't stop misreading it! Sigh.

I hope they nail those sect leaders.

There's a very real concern that has been expressed that this prosecution could actually have the boomerang effect of legalizing polygamy in Canada under the Charter as a religious freedom. Or, as I put it in an e-mail to a friend today, "this could be the Canadian version of the Short Creek raid." (Reader's Digest version: the 1952 Short Creek raid in Arizona was botched, public sympathy was turned to the polygamists, and as a result, the states didn't feel comfortable doing anything until quite recently, as in 2008.)

I used to live in Utah, I have distant kin that are likely polygamists (they're not telling) and I'll just say that you've not lived until you've had a first wife hit you up to become part of her (wait for it) Amway downline!

Oh my.

You may be right, but quite frankly, the battle was lost when they legalized
"Gay Marriage!"
