Scripture of Day - Idea
 

Hey, folks, is there any better way to start a day than with scripture?

How about posting a scripture of the day on a stickie??

Would random posters get assigned one for a day?? Would there be discourse and disertation on the SotD??

How could we go about this???

If we can find a site that sends out a Scripture of The Day, I can do a RSS feed to automate the process using Cornelius.

On my Google homepage I have a Scripture of the Day set up running.

I clicked on the link to the site, but didn't see where it shows it anywhere.

We could also sticky a daily discussion of said scripture...to ENCOURAGE (hint hint) meaningful conversation...

IBS has a feed. I can set up tonight.

I try to limit the stickys. No one pays attention anyway.

And if we have a daily post, it will bump. Daily.

Do you mean that any poster who wants can post a scripture each day or whenever they feel to? I love that! But I've found in the past on forums that it usually dies off quite quickly -- like most meaningful discussion. ;)

If I can parse the script tag it will post a random verse of the day in the same post

Remember that JS is copyrighted.

They give you permission to use the script.

Uh..in fact the script is located on their server...we just need to point to it

Java Script....it's a web portable programming language that get's executed on the client PC rather than on the server..

I set up the bot last night, but I am not sure if this is what we wanted.

I am interested in feedback.

I thought it was going to be a thread open for discussion and where people could post their own scripture of the day.

I just checked that thread out a few minutes ago and noticed that it's locked. So you can't share devotional type thoughts or discuss the scriptures posted, etc.

It's not quite what I thought it was going to be.

Must be a check box that I missed that closed it.

so much for serious discussion.

That's what I told you. Only usually on other forums I've been involved in there was discussion for a few days at least.

Perhaps it was partly the way it was set up.

Oh well, there's lots of other more serious topical and scriptural discussion taking place on other threads. ;) :)

Well, you said you'd try this and see how it worked, right? I think I mentioned earlier about the way I thought it was going to be set up.

It matters not to me except that I'd like to see it work for you.

I think some days a particular scripture may be for just that person and then other days it may minister to someone else. You just never know. I like reading what scripture the Lord gave someone on a particular day.

I dont' think I would comment on that every time, especially, if I had nothing to add, but I still would like to read it.

It was very quiet here this weekend.

I'm sure the verses would see some action on busier days.

I agree with PO and the Mrs. I don't think it would get comments everyday. Especially if it is not a "controversial" scripture. Why not post a daily scripture as a sticky?

who says we cant post our own thoughts on any particular scripture, as well as get a randomly selected one from another site? And do it all in one thread...

Anyone can start any thread on any subject and if it has merit, it lives or dies by responses.

Your response was that I somehow set this up all wrong. You insulted me with your original response I bolded for you and again waltzed over me yet still in your reply.

We are trying to keep the stickys down to a minimum. I can set up a seperate subforum for them.

No, it was a check box I removed the first day. You pointed that out and I corrected it.
