Texas Gathering

Before we put a lot of time and effort into this I need to know how many would be interested in a Texas Gathering?

I know some can't make the Jackson Gathering due to distance. And others have mentioned having one here in Texas.

I need a survey of where the majority would be able to attend or willing to attend. If you KNOW you don't plan to go, please don't vote.

Also, the time you would prefer to have this.

I am going to suggest Houston primary because it is easy to access and there is a good support team to help it happen with Jim Griffin, and myself, and I am hoping others in the area would like to help.

But Houston is a large place and Kemah Boardwalk is a family friendly place on the water. It has a small amusement park your kids could enjoy and lots of faboulous resturants. Here is a link: http://www.kemahboardwalk.com/flash_...h_content.html

There are two airports into Houston and Hobby Airport would be the closest to the Kemah Boardwalk. Southwest Airlines flies into Hobby only now and offers great rates. Many 49.00 -99.00 if you travel on Tue or Wed.

For this reason you may want to consider making it a summer vacation. Galveston is not far and also offers a lot of tourist entertainments.

The other locations to consider IF there is a host for these locations would be:

Dallas, Austin, San Antoino, or Corpus Christy

I didn't vote yet, Esther. Anything is good for me except Dallas. Any season is fine also. I'll wait and see what the majority are voting on and then include my vote.

What would be close enough for you?

You could make Houston or Dallas a one day trip couldn't you?

I was thinking that the Boardwalk would be really hot in the summer. Are you going to make it?

I think it's safe to say folks would bathe. LOL

or it could be put on the agenda each day

7:30-8:00 Bathe
8:01-8:06 - apply deodorant

something like that might work.

7:30-8:00 Bathe
8:01-8:06 - apply deodorant
8:15-8:20 - Texas heat knocks you down walking out the door.
8:30-8:45 - Deoderant mixes with sweat and makes dough balls in your arm pits.
8:45-9:00 - Dough balls melt and runs down your side leaving white streaks in your clothes.
9:00-9:15 - Hair sticks to forhead and neck, shirt sticks to body, sweaty arms catch Texas dust and coats skin in whats now mud.
9:15-9:30 - You walk in resturant to have breakfast and stick to everything from napkins to the chair to the menu.
9:30 - those around you start fanning the funk in the air under the disguise of " it's hot in here"

something like that might work.

I'm in the Austin area and this would work FAR better for me. I absolutely can not do hotel costs. I don't have a car, so traveling is almost impossible. And I have 4 kids who will have to be with me (or with a neighbor..and the neighbor lives here..lol)

I'm more than willing to open my apartment up to those who need a place to stay (but it looks like I'm way outvoted so it's probably not going to matter..lol)

Texas is big enough to have meetings in different places. Not just one. I am at least hoping to be able to meet...... AmazingGrace, Falla, and Rhoni soon. And at least one infrequent poster may be preaching at my church soon. :)

I am definitely on board with a Houston meeting at any time. I would also be able to do other cities, but that would require just a little more planning on my part.
