Watched it, thought it was funny. Some REALLY good talent, a lot of mediocre talent, and lots of insane people that evidently don't have anyone that loves them enough to not let them get on national TV and make fools of themselves.

The harlot in the bikini was just ridiculous and offensive. We fast-forwarded it so we didn't have to see it. They were talking about her on the radio this morning and played a clip of her singing an old Mariah Carey song. It was awful, she was all over the place with pitch, but she got passed on to the next round. Amazing! If she is going to get past the Hollywood round, she's going to have to show up completely naked, because her voice sure won't get her through.

Was impressed with the blind guy at the end, though he needs to wear sunglasses because is eyes and facial expressions when he was singing were a little off-putting. Did they say he entered college at age 14? WOW!

Bikini girl was so annoying!!! I'm sure she knows she is NOT pretty and can't sing, so she had to make a fool of herself. I really think Randy and Simon put her through as a joke or to annoy Paula and the new judge Kara. Now if she makes it past the first round in Hollywood, then I know it was Simon and Randy being dirty old men. Let's see what tonight brings out.

Me too! And I'm a MAN! I didn't enjoy that at all... especially while I was sitting there watching it with my wife and 15-year-old son. Thank God for DVR and fast-forward!

Nah, I would disagree. She surprised me and my wife that she could actually sing. I think she did good enough to get to Hollywood.

The guy who lost his wife has a great voice. So far he is my favorite.

The last black gal who lived in Memphis who lost her home due to a hurricane-23yr old with 2 kids. Her voice was very good.

I knew a couple of kids that tired out for AI this year in Phx and did not make it through-on of them tours with GB5 and can sing so I don't know what was up with that when they let all those tone deaf folks through.

They do it on purpose for show.

I didn't watch American Idol, didn't realize it was time for it. But heard the guy from Jasper, Texas who sang a song from Boys II Men used to go to the Pentecostal Church and had the HG.

I am anxious to see what he does. I know a lot of people who knows him.

Michael Tarver I think is his name.

I heard Mark tried out also Bro Chico's daughter. Both have great voices. Seriously they let "Bikini Girl" through only for that reason. She did sing much better than a lot of others, but her voice was not good enough to get her to Hollywood. Will she be the Sanjaya of the season? Sure hope not.

AI was in San Francisco on tonight's show and only 12 made it through. I loved the guy who's taking care of his sick mom!

Tomorrow night is Louisville, KY, but I'll be at church so they'll have to sing without me!

This is a great time to have DVR.

Okay, I just gotta ask...

How funny was that girl who had all the notes like she was trying to act all edu-ma-cated. Then, when she hit a sour note, explained that she was singing from the wrong "rectum!" I was ROFL! That may have been the funniest thing I've seen on AI yet!

:lol :lol :lol :lol

I noticed tonight that the guy with the best voice who is a recent widower is a music director at his church. I wonder if he is Charismatic. I am going to have to do some google searching as soon as I remember his name!

Re: American Idol

My guess was correct. The 2009 American Idol contestant with the best voice is a Spirit filled believer.

Based on how he sings and that they said tonight he was the music director at his church I did some google research and found out his church, Faith Builders International, is indeed a Cruisematic one that believes in Speaking in tongues and water baptism by immersion.

I read that he was doing the music at two different church locations each Sunday and then travels to Nashville to record and work with a foundation he set up in his wifes name. Here is a link to his church;

That's Danny Gokey...he's awesome! LOVE his voice!

YES - he was BY FAR the best!! The only one that I remotely enjoyed was the blonde/pink hair girl - can't remember her name - but she is pretty good - all the other ones are pretty much as Simon says "forgettable" -

Danny Gokey will be the big winner this year. Can't see any of the others going all the way. He just NAILED it!

Danny has been my pick since I first saw him in the auditions! He's the real deal, and his story is just amazing - to lose a wife so young.

LOVED Danny - and yes he was BY FAR THE BEST...

But what about Michael Sarver (sp?). the guy from Jasper, TX! I love this guy. He just has the sweetest demeanor. And did anyone happen to notice his MOM on the show! She is a pente/apostolic (or what ever your pick of the day is!) if I have ever seen one!

I didn't really care for ANY of the girls. But I must admit I was a bit surprised by Tatiana who I don't care for at ALL. She is too much of a drama queen!

Hmmmm......I wonder if that pastor is Jerry Pruitt's son. He used to pastor in the Milwaukee area. There's some UPC connection if he is.

Badger Rodent Mom,

I noticed that mom also and meant to mention it. She looked 100% Pentecostal / Aposotlic down to the blue jean skirt if I remember correctly. Surely somebody on here knows the family and can give us a history. Obviously the son is backslid since he had on a necklace! (J/K)

I liked that guy a lot all through Hollywood week but he picked a terrible song that did not show off his range or voice at all. I am amazed at some of the song choices the contstants make.

On the other thread Missdkendall said that his mom is Apostolic and is on 'Everyone's Apostolic'.
