The news report says they were told to take off their shoes and coats, put on the inflatable vest and exit onto the wings. It sounds like there were no injuries but they aren't saying for sure yet. But the water is freezing. |

Passenger told NBC all the passengers got off without any problems. A few went into the water. But sounds like most did not.
Said everyone was orderly on the plane. In fact, the guy they talked to was scheduled to fly on another plane and his flight got canceled. ;) |
Re: US Airways Jet crashed into the Hudson
LOL!!! I asked a pilot about birds one time and he said no way would they crash a current plane and nothing to worry about. Matter of fact I think he was with US airways. As I fly them or Delta.

My Mom heard only one minor injury to a crew member that got cut on something. I bet someone on that plane was doing some praying. |

??? But I have heard birds can bring down a plane. You would hope they would figure out a way to put screens are something to keep birds and debris out. |
Re: US Airways Jet crashed into the Hudson
big props to the pilots for landing the best way they could in the water upright awsome job

Re: US Airways Jet crashed into the Hudson
I was on a business trip once, when a plane made the news by sliding off a runway or something, same airline as the one I used, and at the same airport I used. Makes ya think!

They were only 3 minutes into the flight. |
Re: US Airways Jet crashed into the Hudson
They did get wet because one passenger said as soon as they opened the door water began filling the aircraft.
They were also getting children and women off first. I'm surprised about that. I would have expected the closest to the door to exit first. |

Amazing that they survived.

That pilot did an amazing job of making the best of a very difficult situation! I have flown out of LGA many times, and it's always a weird feeling to me to make that sharp curve and fly out over the water. It's such a miracle that everyone is ok.
I just finished reading last week a Christian novel called "The Seat Beside Me" about this very kind of plane crash, where the plane ended up in a river. It was so realistic and I had to fly the next day after I read it!! But in the book, only five people survived. It was very thought provoking. That's the first thing I thought of when Eddie told me it was on the news today! |

Re: US Airways Jet crashed into the Hudson
I spent 8 years in the USAF as a jet engine mechanic. Rebuilding an engine after it ingested a goose or a seagull was not a pretty task! Been there, done that. It can be rather "graphic"! I've also spent many years in the commercial aviation industry and in addition to pastoring, I currently work as an aviation safety inspector. I tell folks all the time that the most dangerous part of my day is driving to the airport and flying is the safest part of any trip. This "accident" is textbook material. This is what we in aviation prepare for and train for. The pilot and crew on this flight are considered heros today, and rightly so. However, they were well prepared for what happened and that should be a lesson to all of us.
