Met some AFFers this weekend.

I was priviledged to meet some AFFers yesterday. Tcovey. Joe and Teresa are the best. My kind of folks. I had a great time visting in their home and we had the chance to go out to eat in a fine Mexican Restaurant last night. (NOTE TO SELF: Use hot sauce sparingly because when Mexicans sat "hot sauce" they really mean HOT SAUCE! ) Joe and Teresa are some wonderful folks who I value as friends.

I left there about 11:OO PM and travelled on to Athens, AL where I spent the night so I could be in church this morning in Decherd, Tennessee to hear an outstanding message by Pastor Rick Taylor.

Oh... yeah... met another AFFer. Somebody named Renda. What a great time we had, having a little informal "planning sessions" for the Spring Gathering. Renda, and TCovey, as well, are assets to this forum. We are blessed to have them.

I can say this about meeting Affers. The highest compliment I think any AFFer can ever get is that they are (in person) exactly as they are on AFF. This is so true for Renda. Funny, a great organizer and yes, absolutely, a little "bossy". But, all in all a great person and a great friend.

Re: Met some AFFers this weekend.

Had a great weekend with my JCM buddy "Red" and her hubby! Maggie was able to make the trip too and they wanted to take her from me. Joe just lost his "best friend" and spoiled Maggie while she was there! While Red and I were out he fed her coconut macaroons and milk! She's his friend forever.

Okay, back to this bossy stuff. I believe OneAccord mistaken me being focused and organized as being bossy - - probably because he's one of those ole timey guys that likes to always be in charge.

It was good to meet OA and for him to meet Red and Joe - - I think he really was able to minister to them and there could be a friendship in the making between him and Joe. Joe has a 66 or 67 truck that he's rebuilding and OA's eyes lit up when he saw that!

Macho man OA didn't think his food was quite spicy enough so he asked for the hot sauce, then instead of sprinkling he DUMPed it. How's the blisters?

I remember on a thread where he admitted to being lazy - so that's probably why he thought you were bossy. He's just been too independent and doesn't like anyone telling him what to do. That's my opinion. :toofunny :doggyrun

Never mind the blisters. Hows this for Bossy? I wasn't in Joe and Teresas house 10 minutes until Renda was handing me a hammer to hang some wall thingy on the wall. "Hang it here" shes says. "No...over here." Forced manual labor it what it is called. The truck is outta this world. Would love to do some tinkering on it... but... well, the distance is a factor. But, Joe and Teresa are my new found friends, and look forward to the day we can get together and head to the Antique Mall in Chattanooga.

Speaking of Antiques... Renda, I trust you and Maggie had a safe trip home.

That was a little bossy! What is up with that, Renda? We need to hear your side.

You may slap him for the last comment! I'll add my smack as well! :smack

Good opinion!

Well, he did have a challenge. While Joe was taking a nap, Red, OA and I talked about the Gathering for about an hour. After we had worked through a few plans, Red and I decided to hang a shelf that she had not put up in her living room. So, OA had two women "helping" him help us hang the shelf.

He's one of those men that has to be right. Even though the shelf looked perfect, he had to move it 1/10000000 of an inch to make it perfect.

Whatever.

Excuse me, sir, but you'd been there at least three hours before we decided to help this poor sister hang her shelf.

LOL -- yes, Maggie and I had a great trip home - - it was quiet.

And just what is that suppose to mean? Quiet as in not having Joe and me talking about trucks, antiques, AC systems and whatever else we could think of... all at the same time?

Well, PO, its like this. I have nothing but good to say about my good friend Renda. Our meeting was about the Gathering, and we came up with some good plans. But, there was more to it than that. I was honored to make some what I believe to be life long friends. And, before I left, we had church. Well, a little bit anyway. I'm looking forward to hearing about the Lord doing some great things for Joe and Teresa. I enjoyed meeting Renda. Shes my friend, so I guess I can put up with her being a little bossy. A little.

PO, what the real deal is that I'm height-challenged. Asking OA to help hang this shelf was simple because I needed someone taller than me. It's sad that he's turned this handicap around to say that I'm bossy.

However, I'm an easy-going person I will not let it bother me.

Re: Met some AFFers this weekend.

Oh yeah, not trying to point out faults or anything, but OA is a jealous type person.

Red and I were just minding our own business talking about the past, I mean we've known each other over 30 years. OA pipes up, "I'm jealous! you people all know each other - it's just not fair"

Well, I really didn't know what to say.

I said, "someone else I know is a little bossy!"

Re: Met some AFFers this weekend.

Wow, you guys really just kept the party going on line, huh? I was shocked to log on and find four pages of some of the exact scenario that we encountered this weekend. The kindnesses exchanged between you two is overwhelming! By the way thanks for helping with the shelf hanging - you did an excellent job! Of course it helps when someone is giving the instructions on what needs to be done!

We really did enjoy having the two of you in our home this weekend. As Renda stated she and I go way back and I enjoyed remembering some of the memories made years ago on the farm. Even tho time and distance has seperated us the bond established then was the same this weekend and we didn't miss a beat. Renda is indeed a precious, caring and dear friend. We so enjoyed having her spend this weeknd with us.

Meeting Rick was a God thing for us. I cannot begin to describe the feeling that has lingered in our home along with the beginning of a renewal in our spirits. I have been a frequent lurker and haven't posted alot but I cannot tell you the times that I have been ministered to in my spirit from someone pouring their heart and soul out here. It began around the time that Rick was going through a rough time in his life and his posts has ministered to me more than he will ever know. What a sensitive, caring and wise man in the ways of the Lord and in pouring out his heart.

We had a tremendous time of fellowship, laughter, tears, joy and bonding. Like spirits yearning for the same things........more of God and being open to what he has for us. I feel that this time was God ordained and that Joe was ministered to at just the right time in his life. He has been through so much with medical issues and his spirit has been broken. OA was sensitive to his problems and used to help him. I agree that we have made friends for life and OA will be instrumental in helping him obtain what he needs to renew his spirit, mind and body.

There is a standing invitation for you to visit anytime you want to and we will work on getting over your way to take you up on the antiquing trip.

We are thankful for such a blessed weekend. God bless you both!
