What's your favorite Easter song or hymn?
I don't think it's even Easter unless you've sung "UP FROM THE GRAVE HE AROSE". How about you?

I remember hearing every year in the Baptist church AND then the Pentecostal church, He lives.....He lives, Christ Jesus lives today.... Sis. Mary Francis Craft always sang "When His work on earth was ended...Onto Glory He ascended....He has risen for I feel Him down in my soul...." I love the song "Because He lives....I can face tomorrow..." And I love an old 70's song...by a group I think called "Dogwood"....the name of the song was "It was a beautiful day" "Cause when they went to the grave They found the stone rolled away Their hearts were burstin' to say Jesus has made it a beautiful day!" |
Rise Again...it's the best!

Little Bunny Foo Foo????
Would you rather hear that in your head all night of "He Lives, He Lives"? |
Quote:
Jesus my Savior. Waiting the coming day. Jesus my Lord. Cho. Up from the grave He arose with a mighty triumph o'er His foes He arose the victor from the dark domain and He lives forever with the Saints to reign. He arose. He arose. Hallelujah! Christ Arose! The verse is very melancholy sounding. And then the chorus puffs out and flies!! There are 2 more verses as well. |

Because He Lives...very traditional..yep that's me.

He's Alive---Don Francisco
The gates and doors were barred And all the windows fastened down
I spent the night in sleeplessness And rose at every sound Half in hopeless sorrow And half in fear the day Would find the soldiers breakin' through To drag us all away And just before the sunrise I heard something at the wall The gate began to rattle And a voice began to call I hurried to the window Looked down into the street Expecting swords and torches And the sound of soldiers' feet But there was no one there but Mary So I went down to let her in John stood there beside me As she told me where she'd been She said they might have moved Him in the night And none of us knows where The stone's been rolled away And now His body isn't there We both ran toward the garden Then John ran on ahead We found the stone and empty tomb Just the way that Mary said But the winding sheet they wrapped Him in Was just an empty shell And how or where they'd taken Him Was more than I could tell Oh something strange had happened there Just what I did not know John believed a miracle But I just turned to go Circumstance and speculation Couldn't lift me very high 'Cause I'd seen them crucify him Then I saw him die Back inside the house again The guilt and anguish came Everything I'd promised Him Just added to my shame When at last it came to choices I denied I knew His name And even if He was alive It wouldn't be the same But suddenly the air was filled With a strange and sweet perfume Light that came from everywhere Drove the shadows from the room And Jesus stood before me With his arms held open wide And I fell down on my knees And I just clung to Him and cried Then He raised me to my feet And as I looked into His eyes The love was shining out from Him Like sunlight from the skies Guilt in my confusion Dissappeared in sweet release And every fear I'd ever had Just melted into peace He's alive yes He's alive Yes He's alive and I'm forgiven Heaven's gates are open wide He's alive yes He's alive Oh He's alive and I'm forgiven Heaven's gates are open wide He's alive yes He's alive Hallelujah He's alive He's alive and I'm forgiven Heaven's gates are open wide He's alive He's alive He's alive I believe it He's alive Sweet Jesus :happydance :happydance :happydance :clap :clap :clap :cheer :cheer :cheer :dance :dance :dance :party :party :party :shockamoo :shockamoo :shockamoo |

our choir did "Save the Day" by PCD this morning...among other songs...
but it was a very powerful closing song :D |
Because he lives. Even on non easter sunday's I like that song.
We sang it this AM. All the rest we did were contemporary. Sang one new song, this morning, called "my Savior lives" really neat song. |
Ours started out with "Do You Know Him" and each song was wonderful!!!
One song we sang as they showed pics from "The Passion" - couldn't help but be touched. |

I’m Not On An Ego Trip I’m Nothing On My Own I Made Mistakes I Often Slip Just Common Flesh And Bones But I’ll Prove Someday Just Why I Say I’m Of A Special Kind For When He Was On The Cross I Was On His Mind The Look Of Love Was On His Face Thrones Were On His Head The Blood Was On His Scarlet Robe Stained A Crimson Red Though His Eyes Were On The Crowd That Day He Looked Ahead In Time For When He Was On The Cross I Was On His Mind He Knew Me, Yet He Loved Me He Whose Glory Makes The Heavens Shine So Unworthy Of Such Mercy Yet When He Was On The Cross I Was On His Mind Yet When He Was On The Cross I Was On His Mind |
Oh, Barb, I love that song. I hadn't thought of it in a while! We had a guy play a trumpet solo this morning of "He Looked Beyond My Faults and Saw My Needs", and then we sang it. I hadn't heard it in years either, but I love it.

Some of the older songs are still so powerful... I remember the first time I heard He Looked Beyond My Faults...I wasn't saved or thinking about getting saved, but always loved the Rambos. I played the LP and that song in particular to death...thought it was the greatest song I had ever heard. |

End of the Beginning
I was taking a trip on a plane the other day, just wishin’ that I could get out. When the man next to me saw the book in my hand and asked me what it was about. So I settled back in my seat. "A best-seller," I said, "a hist’ry and a myst’ry in one." Then I opened up the book and began to read from Matthew, Mark, Luke and John... He was born of a virgin one holy night in the little town of Bethlehem. Angels gathered ‘round Him underneath the star singing praises to the great I AM. He walked on the water, healed The lame, and made the blind to see again. And for the first time here on earth we learned that God could be a friend. And though He never, ever did a single thing wrong, the angry crowd chose Him. And then He walked down the road and died on the cross and that was the end...of the beginning." "That’s not a new book, that’s a Bible," he said, "And I’ve heard it all before. I’ve tried religion, it’s shame and guilt, and I don’t need it anymore. It’s superstation, made-up tales, just to help the weak to survive." "Let me read it again," I said, "But listen closely. This is gonna change your life." "He was born of a virgin one holy night in the little town of Bethlehem. Angels gathered ‘round Him underneath the star singing praises to the great I AM. He walked on the water, healed the lame, and made the blind to see again. And for the first time here on earth we learned that God could be a friend. And though He never, ever did a single thing wrong, the angry crowd chose Him. And then He walked down the road and died on the cross and that was the end...of the beginning." "The end of the beginning?" he said with a smile. "What more could there be? He’s dead. You said they hung Him, put nails in His hands and a crown of thorns on His head." I said, "I’ll read it again, but this time there’s more. And I believe that this is true: His death wasn’t the end but the beginning of life that’s completed in you. Don’t you see, He did all this for you..." "He was born of a virgin one holy night in the little town of Bethlehem. All the angels singing praises to the great I AM. He walked on the water, healed the lame, and made the blind to see. And for the first time here on earth, did you know that God could be a friend? And though He never, ever did a single thing wrong, He was the one the crowd chose. And then He walked and He died, but three days later, three days later, three days later... He rose! Three days later He rose! You see, He came, He lived, and He died, but that was the end of the beginning. |
