Watched Fireproof

I watched Fireproof last night. I highly recommend this movie. I am not big on watching a lot of movies but this is one of the best I have ever seen.

It is a low budget film which seems to add a little to the movie in some weird way.

Re: Watched Fireproof

In an interview with Kirk Cameron, he said that his wife was actually the one he was kissing... which is why they had a "silhouette" of the kissing scene... He said that when he made a vow to his wife, he meant it... and he's never kiss another woman..... so in this film, he was kissing his wife instead of the other actress...... I thought that was incredible... that speaks a lot of one's character....

Re: Watched Fireproof

My hubby and I went to see this at the movies <gasp>. It was very good! We were having some significant problems at that time when it came out. I won't go so far to say it saved my marriage but it definitely encouraged us to work on it.

A few weeks after that we went to the "Weekend to Remember" conference held by Familylife.org. That was absolutely incredible. That absolutely impacted our marriage for the good. There was some great teaching about marriage that neither of us had ever gotten before.

I will say (from my experience) that the church doesn't do a very good job in teaching in these areas. Areas such as the wife's roll, the husband's roll, healthy intimate relationships.... and so on.

In that weekend we gained a wealth of knowledge. He was raised in a ultra con OP church (the one we are at now) but his parents divorced when he was five. I was not raised in church at all and my parents were divorced also. So neither of us had a good understanding of what a successful marriage consisted of. And we certainly didn't learn it in church!

Great movie! I'm secretly doing the 40-day love dare with my wife right now.

I didn't think they could beat Facing the Giants, but they did.

I sobbed and sobbed and sobbed.

The part we where he finally breaks down to his wife, and realizes his fault, is one of the best scenes, from any movie, I have ever seen.

My favorite character is the dad. You can feel his love for God and the total dependence on Christ. The scene at the cross is very powerful.

Yes it is.

My twin fifteen year olds cried at that scene.

Well, I got real low on the couch so my wife couldn't see me crying. :bigbaby

I think the movie does a great job of conveying our need for God.

I bought it at my local Berean Christian Bookstore. I bought the leather-bound edition, it was on sale for $13.99.

Surprisingly enough, I saw The Love Dare on the Valentine's Table at Borders....

My church rented a theater when "Fireproof" was released last year and gave tickets away to guests for free (church members paid less than the ticket price). They also ordered the "Love Dare" books in bulk and gave them away as door prizes during the evening.

The movie was incredible. A big step forward from "Facing the Giants," which was a good movie itself. (Just had some hokey dialogue)

Wayne makes me crack up ... the scene between him and cameron drinking hot sauce was hilarious.

The book is at all the book stores. It is on the New York Times best seller list.

Interesting note ... my pastor saw the movie at a large pastor's conference before it was released to theatres. Apparently there was no book until after the movie was made ... only after requests for the "Love Dare" book started flooding the office, did they make the book.

One ways it's surprising, and yet I believe it... Really, the world is wanting long lasting relationships.... contrary to what media says... It would change the world if couples would get truly get a hold of it and apply it to their lives...

I thought it was a great story!!! The acting wasn't all that great, but the funny black firefighter pulled it together for everyone. He was the bomb! LOL!

I thought Kirk Cameron was awesome but I like him anyway. This was the firefighter's first movie. He is hilarious all the time. He loves God.

I agree that Kirk did a good job. Overall, it was a great movie and a great story - a wonderful story of forgiveness and rebuilding!!! Loved that it was at the movie theatre!!!! :thumbsup

we showed Facing the Giants at our church a few weeks ago. People are still talking about it. The timing was amazing.

I expect we will do the same for Fireproof. I havent seen it yet but we will....

here are some interesting stats.
Production budget was $500,000
Box office gross (USA) $33,451,479
Not too shabby for an uber-Christian film.

over all. opening week was like 6M and ranked number 4. very solid considering what it is and who distributes it.

Facing the Giants made like 19M in DVD sales.

You know the real story here is that there is a market that is vastly underserved in the movie industry. Holiwierd is leaving millions on the table because they think a move needs to kill everything or be filled with nekked folk.

I suspect the success of this group will draw others into the movie business...

We are showing it this Saturday night.
Here is the site, our first showing (seating over 1000) is "sold out" (Free tickets) Second showing is filling up.

http://www.fireproof.tv/

Hubby and I are going to the second showing.

We will then be having 6 weeks where our Bible study will be going thru the Love Dare book and couples not attending our church have been invited by church members and will be invited the night of the showings to attend.

We're praying over this outreach heavily in our church and believing God for many touched and changed lives.

We just had a friday night and Saturday morning Marriage retreat at our church this past weekend.

We first viewed clips of scenes and then had disscussion groups about the particular scene.

We concluded our Friday night session by watching FireProof.

Very well done.

I couldn't help but thinking how while that baptist church was making this film, that has changed many peoples lives for th e3better thru the gospel message, we were all gathered around Tampa figuring how we could split ourselves apart from those who would dare to ADVERTISE on TV

Thank God we didn't have a resolution on the table about making a putting a MOVIE into homes and theaters, we'd of split 10 ways from Sunday. ;-)

My wife and kids watched that. Was it good? I have that ADD and stuff so it's hard for me to sit still through a lot of dramas. I came and went through the room whenever it got loud, but for the most part I was just all like, snorrrrr.... Also, they get mad when I keep interrupting asking, "Eh? What'd he say?" And the kids loathe closed captioning. I usually just curl up in a corner and read.

I personally thought the acting was TERRIBLE! But the message and the story much more than made up for it. I was encouraged to hear that the silhouette of the couple kissing was actually Kirk and his actual wife. I respect his principles! That's very rare - even in "christian" circles like CCM where scandalous affairs seem to be pretty commonplace.
