Living Arrangements

In this time when there are so many singles and so many expenses; what is your opinion about a male and female sharing a home in a non-committed, non-sexual, friendship only relationship?

I am just curious because the world thinks nothing of it. What doth the church say?

Blessings, Rhoni

I don't care what the church says - I say no way.

I'd want my privacy - - hate to have to make sure I was dressed at all times, etc.

I think for some it probably wouldn't be an issue. But there's always going to be complications ranging from the toilet seat to romantic feelings. Not to mention that we are commanded to avoid the mere appearance of evil and not to allow our good to be evil spoken of. I think it could ruin the reputations and the witness of both involved because it would look like they were shacked up... or playing with fire at the very least.

I'd advise against it.

I think people talk too much. People rent out rooms all the time. I don't think think room mates should be mixed gender due to the lack of privacy it would create.

If if were one of my kids, I would be totally against it! I think it looks bad for Christians, whether anything wrong is happening or not.

HUMMMMM I can only guess...you like to run around the house nekid.:gotcha. I am not into lace and frills, and sexy nighties...at least haven't been for quite some time. I prefer tube tops and long pants with my hair in a scrunchie. I am just no fun anymore. I need inspiration:nah

Seriously it would hard to convince people nothing would be going on,plus too having the feelings the we humans have, feelings could get stirred, and then you know what might happen,I would advise agains't it.
A mixed gender arrangement could hurt one's witness.

Well I wouldn't let my kids..I was thinking about more the over the hill singles. I could cook and clean for him and he could fix my car, mow the grass and take out the garbage...but paying half the bills is the best part, as well as safety...but then again...I am doing great on my own. I put in a toilet seat last night, caulked the bathroom, and fixed the towel rod with a meat cleaver...hey...what do I need a housemate for?:ursofunny

And thats why you don't need a room mate of the opposite SEX !!:gotcha

Sounds like you're pretty self-sufficient! I don't think you need a roomie.

Not to pass judgement but if I was single I wouldn't room with a female,I know male urges,I have the Holy Ghost but I wouldn't put my flesh in that situation.

applause for an honest answer........ these answers or justifications of "we are only friends" or "it's just an arrangement, nothing emotional or physical" is :blah:blah:blah:blah . being around someone, caring for them, talking with them on an everyday level..... you will eventually develop some sort of relationship... As far as Christians go, take off the label of Christian and then do as you please! I don't think Christ would have been shacking up even if it was only a "business" arrangement.

Apparently, you haven't been reading the other thread!

My real thoughts are if you really needed a roommate for money purposes - there are probably going to be more women out there needing the help than men anyway!
