Just Spent Two Days with a Bunch of Old Friends
 

We just spent two days with a bunch of old friends at Whitestone Inn in East TN. It was a meeting of pastors (all UPC at some point) where we just talked and fellowshipped. There was sort of an agenda, but mostly just reuniting with old friends. Steven Hoover's wife's aunt & uncle own the inn and it's a fabulous place just to get away - beautiful views and SO peaceful.

I saw the Greens, Langfords, Hights, McNeely's (not Bubba!), Nordstroms, Miles, and so many more. Some of them I hadn't seen for several years, so it was so much fun! It was good to hear what God was doing in everyone's lives and in their ministries.

It was!! We watched one preaching DVD and one last night about the Glory of God and you could feel the Holy Ghost so strong in that place.

Oh I am jealous! Not that I really know any of those people very well--it's just nice to have fellowship!

I hope at some point we will find fellowship here in Ca.

Glad to here about this though, it's very important, people need each other.

That really is a fine place is it not? I wish they were a wee bit closer to us. I am glad you enjoyed it.

Did you mention to the Nordstroms or the Cowells that you knew some of their Wife Swappin relatives?

I too love to fellowship...it is so interesting to see where people go in life and re-connect with old roots. I am a people person and even if I did not know anyone I would have enjoyed just watching and listening as old friends connect.

Sis. you are the type of person that a stranger could sit down with and probably connect as if you two were friends from way back.... I know I could :)

I love fellowship also. Being able to sit with people and have some common ground makes life a little more pleasant...........well, in most cases anyhow.

Whitestone is a great place. When I was in High School at Apostolic Christian School in Knoxville, TN. We have a banquet instead of prom or whatever. It was at Whitestone one year. I think Whitestone has rooms or something that are bird themed, that might be some other place, but I remember Whitestone was nice.

It's been years since I've seen the Cowell's. They, too, were special friends of my family. I've only been to the Whitestone website but would LOVE to visit the place.

As far as I know, they are all bird themes. We stayed this time in the Oriole room in the Rose Cottage - definitely one of my favorites so far. I've stayed in the School House, the Barn, the Lion & the Lamb and the Farmhouse too in various rooms. Our church staff was the very first group to ever stay there, so we were the guinea pigs. LOL!

Oh wow, yes!!! This year we went to the Opryland Hotel, but we've gone to Whitestone several times for staff retreats.

Just FYI, if you ever want to stay there (in the future), it's half price for full time pastors if you stay Sun. through Thurs., and totally free for missionaries. He has such a heart to minister to pastors and especially missionaries. He has given away over 10,000 nights to full time missionaries on furlough.

Wow God is going to bless him for that! It is great to hear that there are people like him in the world! Absolutely beautiful place- wish I lived closer.

You guys need to have a pastors retreat there! hint hint! :D
