I'll bet there are some people who would have been glad to miss a flight to Buffalo last week.

There were at least two people that didn't get on that flight and are now grateful they didn't.

Re: It Is Just A Plane Flight!!

What's the story? Was she trying to catch a flight to say goodbye to a dying husband or loved one? Had they promised to hold the flight for 5 or 10 minutes and fail to communicate this to the pilots?

Did anyone watch this with subtitles? The woman is crazy, she is calling her husband stupid at the end.

Everyone on that flight should be thankful she missed it.

Re: It Is Just A Plane Flight!!

She might be crazy, however...

I'm not convinced that the subtitles are telling us what she's really saying. First off they use English pejoratives and curse words. Also there are illogical leaps in thought from one silly and outrageous point to another leading me to believe that whoever provided subtitles was looking for a laugh.

Orientals are typically rather stoic, it's culturally expected (consider the behavior, tone, and facial expressions of the employees and the gentleman with her). However, grief is typically demonstrated in the East with wailing, rolling on the ground, casting dirt on one's head, tearing one's clothes, and behavior such as this. Having served as a Medic in the military I'd say that this woman is exhibiting behavior indicative of extreme grief and despair. Another indicator is how security isn't subduing her and removing her. They appear to be attempting to calm her. Her wails sound hauntingly familiar. She's suffering great loss.

I'm not sure we should be laughing at this. Just something about it troubles me.

The one I watched had no "English pejoratives and curse words" seemed to be honest, in fact admitting at points they couldn't understand for sure what she was saying.

Re: It Is Just A Plane Flight!!

I'm still not convinced these are true subtitles of what they are saying. Subtitles like "Old Man:" and "**Takes a Break**" are not professional subtitling. In addition the "Arrrhhhhaaa" subtitles of her noises are not standard and are over the top in that they try to spell out her actual sound. Real subtitling would disregard her sounds and address only her words or say "Sobbing" or "Unintelligible". I just don't buy the idea that she's a manic Oriental woman worthy of being laughed at. There's something going on here that is more serious than we're aware of.

You haven't lived in Vancouver where more than 250,000 of it's citizens are Chinese with the bulk of them Speaking Cantonese & from Hong Kong!
I have seen them flip out over more trivial matters than this!

lol

I'm just saying that there's something about her tone that leads me to believe that something very serious is happening. What troubles me is that no one has asked what's really going on. It seems like we're all to willing to laugh at a calamity without even asking as to what is really happening. We really don't know if the man in the film is her husband. It could be her brother. Her husband, son, or father could be dying in the United States.

I don't doubt that. lol

But I'm looking at this objectively. I don't know this woman's story and I'm not sure why I'm asked to laugh at her. Are we stereotyping for a laugh? If I were certain of what was happening here and she were just flipping out I might chuckle. But my point is that I don't know what's happening.

I just had my wife come in and I showed her the un-subtitled video on full screen. I asked her to watch it and tell me her impression of what's happening. After my wife watched it she asked, "Did someone die?"

I'd sure hate to get to Heaven and find out that I was sitting here, with my little boy playing in the den floor while I type, laughing at a woman who lost her son a couple hours later.

Now...if she's manic...yep, that's crazy and I REALLY feel for her husband. But my point is that I don't know why I'm expected to find this funny without knowing what's happening.

Seriously. Pretend that you're seeing this for the first time and that human beings normally have a reason for their actions. Also consider this is an Eastern woman in a culture that customarily expresses grief in tragic displays. I'm just not seeing the humor in it.

What if she's screaming, "My son is dying! My son is dying! Please stop the plane! My son is dying!"?

Hey bro, love you. Maybe it's just the Medic in me. How I would be evaluating the situation, not knowing her language, if I were called upon for assistance. Something about the tone her screams and behavior just strikes an uncomfortable cord in me.

I just found it out on a News site. Apparently the woman was just manic. lol

I don't know. Like I said, I think I'm just jaded. Seen too many people loose it for real serious stuff. Not knowing the language or what was happening, I was very cautious regarding rather to laugh or not.

Well it just came out (my laugh), especially when she was on the floor-

Although I have come across videos on youtube that the comments were filled with mocking and laughter and I couldn't see the humor. Ones mocking Christian prayers and people of faith.

The most recent one that I did not find funny was the video that has been shared everywhere and on the news of the young boy on laugh gas and his dad filmed him while his child was under the influence. Now that kind of humor I do not get. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txqiwrbYGrs

But a grown woman throwing a fit while laying on the ground in public was a bit funny to me!.....it was kind of cool to me because I have been in that airport myself, and made it even more interesting.

I thought that was kind of funny, too. Sarah has had laughing gas several times at the dentist, but it never seems to affect her other than making her a little woozy.

That made me feel sick to my stomach!!! When my son tore his leg open and was taking antibiotics - he went off in the night worse than that!! He was so scared, just like this little boy.

I'm sure his father wanted to keep the video for when he grew up and that's fine, but I wouldn't have posted it on YouTube.

It is watching a child while they are intoxicated, I felt the same way, sick to my stomach-I do not know why he posted it either.

But as it seems others think it's funny too- I just dont see the humor.

It is very sad that a father would post this video. This may sound silly, but I believe that child has a right to privacy. To post a picture of him in this condition, after a MEDICAL procedure, is predatory and wrong.

Yes I agree--I know the father was probably thinking it was cute and innocent, and didn't realize he would get over 9 million hits on his video.

Hind sight is 20/20 unfortunately foresight is not.

Yikes!!!! Predatory? That's a little extreme. You two ALMOST made me feel bad for thinking this video was somewhat funny. Not ROFL-funny, but a little amusing. :)

The fact that his father was videotaping him instead of taking him straight home to bed--THAT part isn't funny. But the part where he thinks he has 2...no, make that, 4 fingers? That's funny. The part where he wants to know if this is "real life?" That's kind of funny. :D

The part where his Dad posted a video of his son in a vulnerable state for the whole world to see? That's not funny. If Jeff did that, I would be irritated with him. I would also be irritated if he posted a picture of me falling through a trampoline or of my skirt falling off or any number of scenarios that people laugh their hineys off about when it's played on America's Funniest Videos!!!!

We all have different ideas of what is funny and what's not. I don't think I'm a "predator" or "predatory" for thinking the boy's laugh-gas-induced confusion is a little bit funny. :D The father didn't cause it! It's not like he drugged him or made him drink beer, for Pete's sake.

I agree with that.

I wasn't trying to make you feel guilty Miss B, I was just being honest about how I felt about it.

I do not slight you for thinking it's funny-thinking the boy asking "is this is real life?" is funny etc.

It hit me differently- perhaps if it was an adult it wouldn't creep me out as much. The child is under the influence of a drug and saying funny things, regardless if it legal...it was still drug induced.

It's ok not see this the same way-I not trying to attack anyone else's personal views on this-:thumbsup
