UPC General Conference Question

Does anybody know the published locations for the next few years UPC General Conferences? I think they usually announce them about 5 years out.

Houston ought to be a big one. Right in the heart of UPC and exUPC country!

I might could talke my wife into the Houston one because there will probably be enough exUPCers there so that she would not stand out like a sore thumb as she did at the last one we went to back in 1999.

Yeah, Neck, you're up there in my neck of the woods.

I was baptized in Jesus' name at the old Elim Tabernacle when it was just a basement on its way to becoming a church. That was October 27, 1955. F.J. Ellis (no physical relation to me) was the pastor.

I received the Holy Ghost Baptism at Bethel Tabernacle on Lathrop when it was UPC and Bro. Lester Thompson was pastor. Now some of that congregation have become True Life in Sturtevant.

I hope we can get an AFF get-together going when the GC comes to Houston.

Our pastor recently visited Bro Lester Thompson in the retirement home where he now lives in Wiscosnin. He told our pastor that is bothers him to be filled the desire to minister but not be able... In his 90's he still has a zeal for the kingdom of God...

Well if the lamenting on some forums is to be believed no one will stand out but the very few who are still "holy."

Bro. and Sis. Thompson have been married for 68 years.
They met at ABI. I think she was no longer able to give him the care he needed at home and he had to move into a nursing home (hospice).

Bro. L.R. Mitchell baptized me at Bro. Ellis' church Oct. 27, 1955 and about that time he left for North Dakota to take the Jesus' name message there.

I started attending the church in Racine some time after I was baptized. It was some time before Christmas. At that time Bro. Thompson was pastor. There were several people in that church that were part of his family.

I don't know if you will see him or not.
If you do, tell him hello for me and let him know that I have been praying for him and Sis. Thompson.
He may not remember me.
A while back on Everyone's Apostolic I gave Sis. Thompson a quick update on me. She said she had wondered what had become of me. It had been many, many years since I had been in that church.
Not too long ago I left a comment on her page at EA asking about Bro. Thompson. She hasn't responded. I'm sure she has better things to do than spending time on the computer.

After I said that Bro. and Sis. Thompson met at ABI, I realized that I didn't know that for sure. One time he said that because he was so financially limited, he waited until she had ordered a hamburger before he came up and talked to her. I just assumed they met at ABI.

I was wanting to go this year. I've got a lot of friends in that area and haven't been in several years .... then the mrs got preggers and is due towards the end of May. So that's pretty much changed everything. *grin* But in a good way. :thumbsup

Maybe we'll go to the conference in Houston. I have friends and family near there as well.

It takes a lot to maintain my obesity. Sherri did a good job at her home a couple of years ago when she hosted an AFF get together. She served an incredible "gooey cake" that must have had at least 5,000 calories per slice.

You need to start planning now to beat that!

If it's calories you're after, there's no better city in the world than Houston :)
