Ready for a Gun ban?

Is this just a beginning?

"As President Obama indicated during the campaign, there are just a few gun-related changes that we would like to make, and among them would be to re-institute the ban on the sale of assault weapons," Holder said. "I think that will have a positive impact in Mexico, at a minimum."

They're not banning assault rifles or any other weapon for that matter. Praxeas, stop reading the national enquirer!

"As President Obama indicated during the campaign, there are just a few gun-related changes that we would like to make, and among them would be to reinstitute the ban on the sale of assault weapons," Holder told reporters.

"I think closing the gun show loophole, the banning of cop-killer bullets and I also think that making the assault weapons ban permanent, would be something that would be permitted under Heller," Holder said, referring to the Supreme Court ruling in Washington, D.C. v. Heller, which asserted the Second Amendment as an individual's right to own a weapon.

Re: Ready for a Gun ban?

As if banning assault weapons sales in the USA is going to affect their use in Mexico. Good grief! Just South of Mexico are dozens of countries with more assault weapons for Mexicans to buy that they would ever find in America.

I don't really fear Obama in this area unless he gets a second term. If he gets that and has nothing to lose you will see radical gun control pushed.

Do you own any of the assault type weapons or ammunition they're talking about?

THANK YOU, TSTEW!!!!!

Really, folks! What business does a peace loving Christian have owning a high capacity ASSAULT rifle!!! Who you gonna kill if I might ask? Your neighbor when he comes after your 7 year supply?

I just don't get how someone can feel comfortable owning one of those!

I was genuinely asking out of curiousity. I personally don't have a problem with the article I read. I'm curious as to how many of the average Americans this ban would affect both negatively and positively (as in who might be safer without assault weapons and ammunition being on the streets). I'm honestly wondering if anybody has a problem with this specifically or whether it is the "slippery slope" that they are afraid of...kind of a "greasy gun-control" effect. :)

My husband bought me - at least he said he bought it for me - a 16-gauge shotgun. Don't have to really aim to use it in emergencies. :thumbsup

A well armed citizenry is a bulwark against tyrants.

Why should anyone care what firearms I have as long as I am not assaulting anyone with them?

Buy guns and ammo and spur on the economy!:thumbsup

Have you tried to buy ammo lately? Forget it! You might as well try to buy some gold coins as rare as they are up here! In sportmans, where they used to have pallets of the stuff, ALL GONE!!:sad

I was reading that one of the big guns shows in Florida was totally sold out! The writer, Doug Giles, said he had been going to the show for 41 of his 46 years and never has seen it happen!

He said,
Quote:

".....no cartridges folks! That's weird because Ft. Lauderdale is not even Texas!" :toofunny
He also said, - hilarious! -
Quote:

"Yep, by the end of the business day the guns were gone. The rifles, shotguns, and pistols were . . . lock stock and two smoking barrels . . . pretty much history. For those with short-term memory loss, this was not a small shop with a couple of Ruger .22s and a few boxes of CCI 40 grain hollow points but a national retail chain with a stonkin’ firearm stockade."
Doesn't he mean - "stokin'"? LOL!

Gotta add this part! :toofunny

This 411 has made me an amalgam of glad, mad, and a little freaked out. I’m glad that business is booming for those patriots in the firearms industry and that they are not in need of a bailout;

Did you see where the firearms industry named BO as their gun saleperson of the year?

The ammo industry with follow suit!

Personally, I would not want to be the man in charge of trying to go in and root out where all those guns and ammo are! WWIII!

I don't have any guns.
I have never had anything stronger than a BB gun as a kid.
I have shot a few different rifles, shotguns, and hand guns years ago but not much.

It is my opinion, however, that our founding fathers intended for people to be armed in case our government became too controlling or too intrusive and we would have to defend ourselves against it.

I have no problems with guns. In fact, I'm in the process of obtaining my concealed weapons license. I'm just wondering if people are actually troubled by the ban on the types of assault weapons that cause so many problems on so many city streets, or if they are afraid of the "slippery slope". I honestly don't know how many of the average law-abiding gun owners own assault type weapons or ammunition and wanted to see how many here may.

I know, but I think the language in the ban is pretty specific.

I thought the debate was that the original fathers were establishing a ready militia and that is, in the opinion of some today, what the defining factor is on the "right to bear arms".

That's just par for the course here in our fair State. I think I'm going to have to rack up on weapons here at home and at the church.

My daughter is like that. She'll pick up anything and be better in a shorter time than people who have been practicing for a while. Shooting a bow is one incident. Some 4-H kids were practicing one evening. She asked if she could try it, asked a few questions and was off and running. LOL!
