Why would a Pastor do this to me ?

I am trying to understand this After 13 years of membership at my church, I developed degenerative disc disease. This condition made it difficult for me to sit or stand for prolonged periods. Because of this I would oftentimes have to leave services immediately after the preaching, therefore missing the altar call. I was secretary and C. F. O. of our church, my husband was a minister in good standing. Well one day Pastor called and said that he thought that I shouldn't continue attending. I suggested that I could maybe start coming after worship service, that way I could be there for the preaching and the altar call. All he said was he thought I shouldn't keep coming. I told no one at church about this conversation. I simply did what Pastor said. This has left my spirit broken.
To this day I do not know why I was asked to leave.
Peace, Sinatra

All I can say is WOW!!!!

That is a mighty big blow. It's not fair for him to ask to leave without giving you a reason.

Whatever you do, don't allow the confusion to turn to bitterness. I know that will be a major job, but that's the most important thing, keeping your spirit right and saved.

Are you now attending another church? If not, I'd try to find one as soon as possible.

I'll be praying for you.

Bad story.
If I was in your place I would go to another church.

Unfortunately, this happened quite a while back. The church that I attended is the only Apostolic church here. I try not to be bitter. I remind myself it isn't God that did this to me but a man. But it still hurts .

Must be a very popular thing, because either you had once posted this story on FCF, NFCF, or GNC , or I heard the same exact story before?

Please I mean you no offence but did you ever post this story before?

I remember reading it somewhere (probably here) as well.

That doesn't make it UNtrue.

Re: Why would a Pastor do this to me ?

My wife and I have a similar story. I had attended this church for nearly 12 years also. I was part of the minister's team and on rotation to preach. My wife and I taught Sunday School, were part of the Praise Team, members of the choir, assisted our outreach director, and I drafted a men's life focus ministry with regular meetings and outings. My wife would occasionally lead the choir and the praise team in the pastor's wife's absence. Well, they decided to open the church for morning prayer services during the week. The church was open from 6am to 10am for "come and go prayer". However, the ministers were "required" to be at these prayer meetings. Well...my wife and I both work and we only have one vehicle. I have to drive my wife to work, drive my son to daycare, and then get myself to work before 8am every morning. There was no way we could make these meetings and be to work on time, that is unless we drove across town just to sit for 10 minutes and leave. I explained my situation to my pastor and he appeared to understand. Well about two weeks later my wife was cornered by the pastor's wife and was told that if we "consecrated ourselves" by making morning prayer maybe my "ministry would open up". Well...my wife explained that we had prayed and spoken to the pastor about the issue and that she didn't believe we had to be there. Our pastor's wife pointed her finger in my wife's face and said, "That's a spirit of rebellion!" My wife exploded into tears and left the sanctuary. I only heard a ruckus but didn't know what it was about. My wife went into the ladies room so I followed the pastor's wife up into the pastor's office where she was hysterically denouncing my wife as a rebellious woman who had no respect for spiritual authority. I stepped in and asked what was the matter and she began to point and scream at me about keeping my wife under subjection. I looked at the pastor expecting him to calm his wife down...she was obviously emotional but he allowed her to lay into me. I interrupted her and said, "Look, I don't even know what happened. We all need to take a seat, calm down, and talk about this like adults." With that she sat down, started crying, and began texting. My pastor began to lecture me about how his wife's "discernment" was rarely wrong. At that moment my wife walked into the office and things got heated between the two of them again. Eventually we all calmed down and agreed to sleep on it all then my wife and I left. My wife said that she'd never return. I told her that she should give it a chance. We continued attending this church for a little over 7 months after that event. However, during that period my preaching time was cut to nearly nothing, my wife was removed from the singer's schedule, everything she volunteered for was "full" and she was told that she wasn't needed. Her heart was broken. Eventually we decided that we had to leave. It really hurt us. We've not been the same.

It sounds like the only thing that would have hurt this pastors wife was for you to withhold any tithers or offerings.
Looking back at my own circumstances and comparing them to yours, I marvel at how much time I gave them. In your case 7 months. If it happened today, I would be out that day, or minute.

Ever wonder why people really aren't that enthused about going to church?

I had a wonderful Pastor when I was in Arcadia Florida. He and his wife were beautiful to me. Everyone should be blessed with such awesome people.
I also had my share of the Dracula ministry, and those kind I wouldn't wish on the devil.

With all due respect, this is a time to be strong. You really need to have a serious talk with the man - you owe it to yourself, to him, and to the rest of the church to get a straightforward answer.

Re: Why would a Pastor do this to me ?

I know people who joined motorcycle gangs and went through all kinds of abuse to wear a patch. People will subject themselves to all kind of abuses to join fraternities, and endure losing enormous amounts of money to be part of pyramid schemes, or money cults like Monavie and Quick Start.
People will endue everything from verbal abuse to water boarding to be part of a group. People will also kill themselves for cults. Imagine being a part of Heaven's Gate and finding out that you not only had to wear fluorescent Nikes, but you had to castrate yourself and while eating chocolate pudding mixed with sleeping pills? Yet, when we hear about Apostolic Pentecostal Churches you would think that the people who burned to death at the Branch Davidian compound got off easy. I had my bad experiences, but I had more awesome experiences in the Apostolic Movement. I don't want to offend anyone, nor discount any kind of bad experience. I just want to say that I have been around all different kinds of religions, sects, and movements, and I must say that Apostolic One God Jesus Name people are still the most fun, and that's with all their faults and fictions.

That is strange, your husband was part of the ministry? No one inquired on your whereabouts? A close friend is one who sticks closer than a brother, meaning that they are always calling you, wanting to go out with you, and looking to make your life just a little nicer. Didn't you have any people in the church that you would constantly interact with?

I'm not saying no one inquired. They could have asked Pastor or each other. Just not me. Yes, we had people who were close friends, whose children were like our children. People that were closer to me than even some family. People we considered family. That's one of the reasons it hurt so badly. I felt pushed out and rejected, BUT I WAS NOT going to go around to the member's of the Church and bad mouth the Pastor.

maybe the pastor told everyone not to talk to them. Perhaps, if the story is true, if he is that kind of person to just boot them out he is the kind to lie about them too.

I can assure you it is true. Why would he tell people not to talk to us?
But please people understand, I never thought he was a bad Pastor. I am not bashing men called of God. I have been blessed to have had a wonderful Pastor during the earlier years of my walk with God.
