Anna Nicole Smith's former boyfriend Larry Birkhead said Tuesday that DNA tests have proven he is the father of her infant daughter.


Birkhead emerged from a closed court hearing to announce the results. Smith's companion, Howard K. Stern, has been caring for the girl, Dannielynn, who could inherit a fortune in the wake of her mother's February death.

After the hearing, Stern said he would not fight for custody.

An expert in genetic evidence said the DNA analysis has proven Birkhead is Dannielynn's father. Dr. Michael Baird, who analyzed the results of a March 21 DNA test, announced the results outside the court. "Essentially, he's the biological father," Baird said.

A jubilant Birkhead said "My baby's going to be coming home pretty soon."

I don't know much about him, but I hope he's a good father.

Has anyone noticed how newborns look soooooo much like their fathers when they are born? Even the girls.

I have observed this through the years. I like to think this is God's plan. There's no fooling 'Daddy' if the baby is not really his. :winkgrin

Of course this isn't true in EVERY case...but for the most part...There usually seems to be more of Daddy's looks in the first couple days than there is Mommy's.

I predicted who the daddy was from the first time I saw the baby. :winkgrin

I've always said the daughter takes after the dad's side and the son looks more like the mother!

My son looks like my brother and my daughter looks exactly like her dad's mom.

Neither of my children looked like their father when they were born.

Neither one of them ever have looked like him. My daughter has his brown eyes, and that's it. She looks exactly like me.

I have no idea where my son came from. His blonde curly hair and blue eyes aren't familial traits on either side!

the first thing burkhead needs to do is send the baby to detox.

The news last night said the baby had been fully checked out and was fine...healthy.

hypotheticals here.. If I got a woman preggers... and she didn't want me to see my child, I would fight for my rights, whether the baby's moma was rich or poor!

larry seems much nicer. he also has a lot of support. he has a huge family.

Yeah...the dude suddenly becomes the best parent a child can have...gets custody and sues for the sort of child support the kid would have gotten if she were the custodial parent...that's a lot of cash the CP gets just to get a house for the kid to stay in
