Wonderful pictures. This happens to be one of my youngest childs' favorite books.

Good Luck on the production!

You all look great. If I lived a few hundred miles closer to you, I would definately come to watch. I'm sure it will be a great show! And you were in your Easter Drama just last week, you're a busy man!

Thanks guys. It's been a blast working with the cast (some not pictured).

One is a Baptist Pastor. One is a part-time Christian Church minister, who always gathers us, every practice, for prayer!

You can take the train to Amsterdam. That's where we live - above the office building...

I'll be in Amsterdam in a few weeks, flying through - I'll look you all up!

Seriously, I would love to see this show. I love the story and you guys look totally authentic.

Excellent costumes, Stephen! I just watched The Hiding Place a couple of days ago. It seems more real seeing people we - semi-know (lol) - with yellow stars on their clothing! What a horrible time!!! People can be so cruel!! It is still unbelievable! :sad

You won't have time, I'm sure, but the converted attic is still there and is a major tourist attraction.

Amsterdam also has various mind altering drugs available in their "shops". So have fun, but don't miss the flight!:)

Actually Amsterdam is my LEAST favorite place on earth so far. We went into the city once when we had a long layover, and I was totally CREEPED out spiritually. And I rarely ever have that feeling, but it was just a spiritual void, in my opinion.

I'm sure there are some good places to visit, but I couldn't get past the weird feeling. Now when we're stuck there, we just stay in the airport (which is like a city in itself).

Someone told me that when he was in Europe he visited the "Hiding Place" and there was a special sense of the presence of God there.

One of our cast members was at the attic in Amsterdam. She said something similar... very special experience.

People warned us of that when we went to Rome. We did not notice - too busy having fun my wife says. We even stayed in a monastery - converted to be a b&b, but complete with a current church and all. I went behind the confessional and had my wife share all the dirt she needed forgiveness of - it was shocking but her secrets are safe with me :)....:thumbsup

First night complete. Full house, and all went quite well. Many in the audience connected and some were in tears when then greeted the cast after the show.

We have a scene at the table where everyone is eating kale... I am one of the only ones that actually likes it - both in the play and for real. Some of the others are hurling at the smell - again both in the play and for real...

Re: Adults $10 Students $5 Get Your tickets Now!

The last night of the production (Sat.) was sold out - our theater has 280 seats. We had a lot of good response from the community. One couple from Florida (they have a lake house here) said they recognized Kristin and I from a TV rerun last week. Of course, there was also mention of that in the program.

Tonight we had 26 at our house for the cast/crew party. We had a wonderful time with lots of food and talking mostly about the Lord, our newly forged friendships, and funny moments in the play.

I really enjoyed this even if it was demanding on my time. If you get an opportunity to participate in the play for community theater please try it. It is about a lot more than acting. The content, of course, has to be acceptable and carry a good, wholesome message, but it can a great way to meet people and make new friends - that's always a good thing I think.

I think Hoovie could play any part he wants. After all, he's already had his own television show!! :thumbsup

I do enjoy Annie, it's a fun play. My youngest was in it when she was 9 or 10 years old and had a blast. I took the girls to see it at the Orphium in Memphis several years ago. It's just one of those that I don't get tired of.

They will love it. Tabitha didn't have a speaking part - she was just one of the orphans, but still had a ball. She still breaks out singing Annie songs or quoting lines from the play occasionally - but she's random like that anyway! Go for it!

Auditions were last week and yesterday...

Funny story - My three girls have been practicing songs and actions for the auditions for the open talent section, singing together then breaking off into solos. They are really awesome.

Soooo anyway, we go in last night and the director gets a group on stage and passes out impromptu script sections. Emily was to kick it off as "Pepper" (the older obnoxious girl). The Director says, "Pepper", and Emily just froze. Twice more, she asked for Pepper and Emily put the script down and shook her head no. Kristin and I could not figure it out. Emily had stage fright a few years ago, but since Wife Swap she has come out of it and has even sung at church. The Director instructed her to give the script to another girl, and then Emily left the stage in tears.

The other girl started reading, "Shut UP! ..." We knew immediately what had happened. We have a family rule... yup, Kristin has taught them, "we do not say those words" :) Emily is very conscientious and would not do it even though she knew it may jeopardize getting the part.

We were so proud of her even though it may not have been the ideal way to handle it. We have found codes of conduct are best taught concretely then later discuss the intent and possible exceptions. We should have anticipated this but didn't think our girls were old enough for Pepper. (they aren't, but it was just for auditions)

The other girls did great and Emily recovered to join them on their rehearsed songs. Everyone loved them.

Just got a call from the director. They all three made it and Alivia got "Molly" who is the smallest orphan with a very substantial role.

I did not try out for Rooster because there are too many singing parts. I will play several roles, including an Officer and a Presidential Cabinet Member.

Script read through starts next Thursday. There will be six or seven show nights starting the end of September.

That's so sweet, Hoovie. I remember one of my audition readings had a four letter word in it. I just automatically substituted it with an appropriate slang word and kept on reading without a hitch. No one said anything, so I guess it passed the director's cut!

There are some of those words in Annie too. None for the girls and I - but the Roosevelt/cabinet members scene has several.

Our family of five went to see Mary Poppins at the Fox Theater last night. We had tickets for the orchestra section.

It really is one fine musical... Step in time!
