Re: In Memory Of Our Mothers
My Mom grew up as a preachers kid, but something happened to her as an older teenager that turned her away from God and church. She married my Dad, and they both became alcoholics and abusive. When I was only 3 years old, Mom and Dad divorced, (I never saw Dad again). Mom decided to move back to the town where she had grown up, it was the town where all her family still lived.
I was blessed to grow up, hear truth preached, and to receive the Holy Ghost in the same church my Mom grew up in. It was here that I learned about Jesus. Every Sunday and Wednesday, either my Grandmother or my Aunt would come and get us children and take us to church. I remember learning to pray at my Grandmother's knee when I was around 4 years old. It was around this time that I started praying for Jesus to save my mommy. I prayed this daily. Growing up was not easy. I feel Mom did the best that she could, she simply had too many problems, problems that only Jesus could solve. In spite of all that Mom did or didn't do while we were growing up and in spite of whatever problems she had with God or the church, I am thankful that she never talked bad about the church, and she never tried to stop us from going to church. As a kid, I never saw Mom in church, never heard her pray, but I never stopped praying for her. I grew up, was emancipated at 16, eventually got married and had children of my own, and still I prayed for Jesus to save my "mommy". After praying that daily for over 30 years, Jesus answered that prayer! Five years ago my Mom found an altar of repentance and has come back to a right relationship with Him!!!!!!!!! Mom has since apologized for all that she did to us during our childhood. I don't blame her, I know it was her alcoholism and her being away from God. I am so thankful for my Mom!! I am so appreciative to just be able to sit and discuss the goodness of Jesus and the Word of God with her. There were times I didn't think I would ever see this day come, but GOD IS FAITHFUL!!!!!!!!! |

Re: In Memory Of Our Mothers
I give honor to my Mother for giving me life and living a prayerful example before me. My mother had 5 children and raised us all to serve the Lord... all but one is living an overcoming life for the Lord at this time. My oldest sister currently needs the Lord. However, her one and only son is pastoring and the rest of us serving God. I think that speaks well of my parents. God has been good to our family...and as mom is fast approaching her last days (alzheimers) we are always reminded of what a strong individual she was... even in her sickness, she has had strength, and one of the longest going alzheimers patients I have ever heard of. She was diagnosed in 1996... She now only weighs about 75lbs and most systems are failing. She probably won't live to see next Mother's day... she is very weak. So, I honor her for her love to her husband, his ministry and to her family. She labored by my dad's side in the ministry for over 40 years.
This is a pic of mom and her 4 girls in 1970... and as my sisters say...my sister Lyn is frowning because she is tired of trying to get the stubborn youngest child to smile... I was not shy, but stubborn... http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d8...cture014-1.jpg Here is another one when I was a baby that includes my father in the older building... so that would have been in 1968... 4 years before my brother came along. http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d8...cture015-1.jpg Here is her and all 5 kids in 2006 http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d8...3/HPIM3205.jpg |

Re: In Memory Of Our Mothers
Mom was always approachable, even with eleven of us kids, she was always up for a hug. I can't remember a cross word, dedicated to her family and to her Lord. I rise up here and now and call her "Blessed".
Mom, had beautiful handwriting, and was the one of few farm girls that graduated High School in the early 1930's, she was sharp in math and able to help tutor, when one of us might struggle with it. She served and always gave her best, now she is complete in the presence of the Lord. |

It was Mom that first taught me about living for Jesus. My earliest memories of mom and dad are of me (age three or four) coming into their room in the mornings and both of them praying bedside on their knees. http://www.ninetyandnine.com/Archive.../testimony.htm |
