Women's Hair: Men Like It Longer

"Surprising Reason Men Don't Call Women Back

#2.Look like a woman. At work, conservative and structured clothing allows you to be taken seriously, but it's not exactly sensual by candlelight. Don't go straight from work in your power suit to meet him for dinner; rather, change into something soft and flirty. And try growing your hair longer: men told me that shoulder-length hair (or longer) is more feminine. Sure, you're a strong and capable woman, but think Scarlett O'Hara not Hillary Clinton."

It is interesting that longer hair is not associated with being conservative.

The other reasons given are also relating to femininity and showing the softer side.

So sensual appeal is another witness of the standard, ranking right up there with "if we only knew what witches knew".

I don't think that looking attractive is the same as being or appearing "sensual." :coffee2

Re: Women's Hair: Men Like It Longer

I got a thought that I wanted to share. Paul said,

I Corinthians 11:10
For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels(Gk. aggelos).
The NIV puts it this way,
I Corinthians 11:10 (NIV)
10For this reason, and because of the angels, the woman ought to have a sign of authority on her head.
The magic hair crowd seems to believe that the term "angels" is speaking of supernatural spiritual beings who are somehow bound or empowered by a woman's hair. But that's not the only use of this word in Scripture. The term "angels" can also be used for ministers and pastors. For example most know that the seven angels of the seven churches who are addressed in the Revelation are believed by many, if not most commentators, to be the elders of those churches. In fact even John the Baptist is referred to as an angel in the Greek...

Matthew 11:10
For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger (Gk. aggelos) before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.
Strong's defines this word as follows:
32 // aggelov // aggelos // ang'-el-os //

from aggello [probably derived from 71 , cf 34 ] (to bring tidings);
TDNT - 1:74,12; n m

AV - angel 179, messenger 7; 186

1) a messenger, envoy, one who is sent, an angel, a messenger
from God
So Paul's primary point may have been...

I Corinthians 11:10
For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the messengers.
The women of Corinth were praying and prophesying in public worship with their hair down and unveiled, something considered rather worldly, immodest, and provocative in Corinthian culture. Those Christian men of Corinth in attendance who were once participants in depraved pagan gatherings could very well have been tempted, distracted, or enticed by the unveiled Corinthian women. Paul may have been admonishing women to submit to their own husbands, wearing a veil as a sign of this submission, and be modest so as not to tempt or distract the elders (or angels) who ministered among them.

No magic hair, or magic veils. No spiritual mumbo-jumbo or hoodoo-voodoo around a woman's head in the spiritual planes. Just some down to earth, common sense, teaching admonishing modesty and propriety in the Corinthian church.

All of this would tend to be in agreement with men thinking longer hair on a woman was appealing.

Just a thought.

What think ye???

Possibule. But the longer hair is still far more complimentary.

The mid-length of Hillary, Pelosi and others seems more like a modern version of a burka, except it's adherence to the mindset of that particular camp.

And then shorter than that, and look out, Butch. :)

I'll have you know that I have short hair (chin length) and I am not in any way shape or form butch!

The other evening I was fixing my hair up in a simple, yet "becoming" style,
and I was reflecting on some of the comments made by posters on AFF. It
came to me, why would some equate long uncut hair with "witches".

When I was single I wore my shoulder length hair down and curled. Fine, not
thick by nature, and it was not hard to handle.

I married fifty years ago this coming July. After I married and had a child I started wearing my hair up. Not only did it grow but I was very comfortable with it up. It seemed that being married and having a child, I had a "settled" feeling. I was no longer interested in being "available" as a girlfriend. I was a wife and mother and now a part of a "new" beginnng family.

http://www.apostolicfriendsforum.com...ad.php?t=20312

Back to the "witch" part. A witch is usually portrayed as a "hag", complete
with snaggled teeth, long stringy hair and riding on a broom. Who in the
world would want to be compared with that!

I think a grey haired woman with grown children, her long hair hanging down,
whether it is trimmed or uncut, etc., does not do herself justice.

We are supposed to be "modeling" for the generation following us. How will they knowhow to "model" to their children and grandchildren, if they have no "pattern" or example to go by!::heart May all who come behind us, find
us faithful!:thumbsup

And a man/husband who would make his lady feel badly because after bear-
ing his children, and growing older, she didn't look quite like the "girl he married, is one immature person! Yes, she should always care about her
appearance as much as possible if she lives to be an 100. At 84 yrs our
mother was a lovely, soft-looking lady with beautiful white hair, peaches
and cream skin, and the sweetest smile, after bearing and raising eleven
children. They adored "Momma". Momma modeled for me and I have en-
deavored to model for my precious children and grandchildren. Our Wonder-
ful Counsellor helped Momma and HE has helped and guided me.

In September this lady with grey hair, fixed in a simple, yet becoming, hair-
style, by then will turn 70 yrs, will have been married to the same man for 50 yrs, mother of six (three of each, all married to their original spouses), all active in church, 20 grandchildren, 15 g-sons, 5 g-girls, all in church. If you think I feel badly that my hair is grey (still have some auburn) and un-cut, and long, that I feel badly! I feel like a queen. God has been SO good to me and my family. But HE is no respector of persons. I am not intimidated no matter what anyone says about me, I know WHOSE I am and I wouldn't trade places with anyone!!! HE is # ONE in my life. My main concern is that HE is pleased with my life.:heart

In my mind, I can see the older queens of England with their hair softly
fixed up in an elegant style. They want to present themselves as royalty.
and the real royalty stands out!:thumbsup

I can also see a old "witch" with her long unkept hair blowing in the wind
as she glides here and there. Wonder what she is looking for? Somehow she
doesn't seem content, settled or satisfied. On the other hand, an elegant
queen, looks quite royal, sitting on a "throne" beside her "king". He's the one
she desires to please! No matter her grey her hair gets, or how many years
she has seen. We're all going to grow old and if the right things are in place,
we will never have to worry about being "replaced"!:heart

Not intended to offend anyone, and if I have used "I" too many times, it
is because this post is about this lady.

Just some Falla thoughts this lovely summer morning in America! Happy
Memorial Day weekend!:usa

Hugs,:mama

Exactly, Miss Bratified,

We can be attractive without "emitting" the spirit of sensuality
We can be "presentable" without having an unholy motive!

Attractive women cannot help but be sensual. Now there is a difference in being provocative or forward. If a woman tries at all to dress nice and have nice hair men will notice.

Lol - not really.

Just get tired of being broad-brushed into the "butch" category just because I believe it's okay to have cut hair.

I'm very tolerant of everyone else's beliefs - just wish they could be of others.

Women certainly do look more feminine in longer hair. :D Doesn't mean it must be uncut to accomplish that, though.

Re: Women's Hair: Men Like It Longer

If the seven churches of Asia, mentioned in Revelation, had an angel to represent
each, why shouldn't homes be represented by an angel.

In Christ there is neither male nor female. I can't help but believe it was the perfect
will of God to have an angel represented in every home.

God said HE sought for a man to make up the hedge, but HE didn't find a man. So HE put
an angel in each church. But that wasn't perfect either as HE had somewhat
against each.

The OT mentions on more than one occasion, "the angel of His Presence". The "ark
of the covenant" represented His Presence. But in and through the New Covenant,
His Presence could/should be in every one who who received Him. He would be IN
them, instead of just WITH them. It just depends on how much of His Presence we
desire and will allow. How much do we desire or stay in His Presence. HE is able to
do exceeding abundantly above what we can ask or think, ACCORDING TO THE
POWER/PRESENCE that dwelleth IN us!!!

I believe it is God's Will and desire to have a representative, someone in every home
to represent HIS POWER and HIS PRESENcE!!! It can be male or female. Someone who
will consecrate and dedicate to stand in the "gap/or make up the hedge, so that when
the enemy comes into a home or sanctuary, that "angel of HIS PRESENCE, can with
power and authority stand and say with authority, "NO, devil! Not this home! Not this
sanctuary!! and stand ....!

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate
of righteousness;

15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts
of the wicked.

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with
all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Now what was that we were saying about "power on her head because of
the angels"!
You get a "mother hen" and try to get near her "chicks" and you
will have a fight on your hands". It is the nature of a true mother to want to
protect and fight for her "babies" and she'll die before she lets the enemy
have them!! Do I hear an amen!! It's her very nature. No wonder Jesus told
"his own , even though they rejected him, "how oft would I have gathered
you together as a mother doth her chicks, but you would not.

Blessings,

Falla39

She doesn't look butch imo, she looks cute-

I just think when a woman gets a certain age long hair worn down looks dowdy. I think shorter hair is more becoming and more professional looking on older women.

*This is just my opinion*:D A person if free to do what they think is right to them, of course.

You know there is gay male who works where I do,and when he is in on his off day he comes into our store dressed in drag, and get this he has a short hair cut.
Everytime it is payday I dread going to get my check, cause this fellow will be there in drag.
And get this he shows up at one of our small town highschool graduations in drag.

How old is too old to not look dowdy????? I love my hair and wear it down almost all the time. I did not used to do so though because I had been told many times that it was sensual. I finally realized that it is and that I cannot help the God given beauty that has been bestowed upon me so to that I say be yourself and love it. For me it also depends on whether the ministry I am preaching for feels a conviction over me wearing it down. Usually it does not matter as I have extremely curly black hair. I have in times past only worn it up due to the teachings of a particular pastor etc. I am thankful my husband loves it down and encourages me to be more lady like. Please no one take offense at this. Your hair is between you and Jesus as is mine. I for one dedicated my hair to Jesus and decided not to cut it. From the consensus I have heard from the male of the species it seems men like women to have long hair.

Obviously having short hair does not equate looking "butch", as Brittany Murphy (and Audrey Hepburn) clearly example.

I do agree that long hair is ultra-feminine, but that doesn't mean women with short hair can't or don't look feminine. It's the overall picture and attitude that makes a woman look butch.
