and the Bible and the Talmud.
He also made the point of affirming his Christianity while pointing to his father's family who are comprised of "many generations of Muslims." |

Re: President Invokes Quaran.
From the article:
"As a boy, I spent several years in Indonesia and 1) heard the call of the azaan at the break of dawn and the fall of dusk," he continued. "As a young man, I worked in Chicago communities where many found dignity and peace 2) in their Muslim faith. As a student of history, I also know civilization's debt to Islam ... 3) I know, too, that Islam has always been a part of America's story." 1) I heard the same thing too, it is part of my life's experiences from Iraq and Afghanistan. No one is calling me Muslim, but then again, I am not the Democratic President of the U.S. drawing the ire of overzealous political hacks who want to bend and twist evrything our President does into something negative. 2) NEWSFLASH!!! The average Muslim is not a terrorist! Most Democrats know this. Sometimes the way Republicans connect Islam with terrorism makes you think they don't know this. 3) At the worst, he was trying to create a common gorund for which our country and Muslims of the world can work from-- a common ground that never existed while GWB was President. His actions, words and policies alienated our country from them. Our current President is trying to correct this. |
Re: President Invokes Quaran.
Still a bit odd for our president to totally embrace the Arab world.

Re: President Invokes Quaran.
I don't have an issue with BHO quoting the Quaran ... it's like any politician pandering to their audience. His audience was mostly Muslim, so it's no surprise he quoted from their favorite novel.

Re: President Invokes Quaran.
what always part of americas history is he talking about ? 100 years ago, did we even have a muslim in this country? i seriously doubt it . and what debt does civilization owe to islam ? what a moron, he is making gwb look like a genius. at least he could hold a press conference without a teleprompter. and he knew protocol from the get go . there will never be any common ground they are our sworn enemies that is why the quoran orders every practicing muslim to kill an infidel in his lifetime [that is defintiely me and i am presuming you too unless you worship allah JD if so i guess your off the hook]

Ah salaami lay kum to you too!!! 1) Maybe he's talking about the educated forerunners of our modern society being informed about Islam. 2) Does anyone know for sure? Maybe some of the slaves were before Christianity was forced on them (one of the things that satan meant for evil but God turned around for the good). http://islam.about.com/od/history/a/afammuslims.htm http://tpmcafe.talkingpointsmemo.com...hp?ref=reccafe 3) If there is anything that we get from the Middle East today or anything in the past, Islam is a part of whatever it is because of how they live their false religion. Islam IS their life. One thing right away I can think of is Algebra-- but I guess that does not have any real world applications for you. Or maybe it does, but you're just not aware of it. 4) Ah, no he's not. Look at the world's reception and disrespect for GWB and look at the respect BHO is COMMANDING everywhere he goes. But it's ok to be blinded to this positive development-- just keep listening to the right wing political haks who can't wait for 2012 to get here. Their energy would be better spent trying to support our President-- A Commander in Chief who's country is fighting two separate wars on two separate fronts with a the possibility of a third one. Go ahead, tear him down. In their zeal, the ones who tear him down viciously prove that they really don't love the United States of America. 5) We already have common ground. This is so basic, I won't insult you by reminding you of the common ground we share with the Middle East. 6) Why is it that the vast majority of Muslims do not interpret their book to mean that in a way that is to be carried out by murder or war today? Maybe because most Muslims don't interpret those verses that way in the first place. Unfortunately, to many, if you've seen one Muslim, you've seen them all. |

Re: President Invokes Quaran.
you gotta stop listening to chris mattews and his ilk commanding respect ? do you mean when he sent his tax cheat githner to china to speak and when he told the chinese university students that we are a reponsible finacial society they laughed openly in his face. thats repect ? how about the english reporter who wrote a scathing article in thier paper criticizing him for his apology tour, do you mean when he bowed to the waist to the saudi king and people in line with the king laughed thats respect ? the only person more nervous than the majority of americans is bin ladin who is scared to death he is going to convince the muslims he is a full muslim not just a half muslim . that alone scares me even more! btw im a virtual life long dem. but there is no way i could vote for that guy he is a left wing 60s radical whose only experience before he got this position was he was a community organizer well so were the BLACK PANTHERS. your known by the company you keep and a lot of his buddies were cop killers/ domestic terrorists and outright thieves and they dont apologize for it today and say they wish they did more

Re: President Invokes Quaran.
the point is they havent ALWAYS been a part of our history and because you invented a wheel doesnt make you Henry Ford, i think he could have come up with that minor part too since he built the rest and who cares ? the far left sure did when gwb was prez he was riduculed for stumbling over the pronunciation of words unmercifully and was called an idiot for doing so, one lady even said" its such a refreshing change with bho he insists on using complete sentences "! what a joke ! its a two way street. no im not going to study the koran.

Re: President Invokes Quaran.
oletime,
Muslims have been in America for at least as long as there were slaves in America. They were forced to convert to Christianity. The influence of the Muslims have been in America since the beginning of America-- maybe not a great influence, but America was not formed in a vacuum. |
