Agree with you there. Typical liberal pundit tactics. The guy KNEW that the only daughter in NYC was the 14 year old. What a creep.

They took Don Imus off the air for his comment about the basketball team, but they won't touch this clown for saying something just as bad or worse.

Re: Palin Furious At Letterman.

Letterman is Letterman and will always be Letterman ... obnoxious and extremely partisan. I'm upset with his "joke" about Palin's daughter and Palin herself. The "joke" was obscene and at the very least Letterman should offer an apology, instead of an excuse.

Hey, how often do you think Palin and NOW will agree on something!? That shows how offensive this "joke" was.

More importantly, because of the stupid "jokes" (they weren't even funny) about Palin - now she's able to play the victim yet again and be in the headlines again.

Enough! I'm tired of hearing about/from her. Stop letting her make headlines. She's as annoying to me as Letterman is.

Shame on Letterman for his dirty "joke" - and for giving Palin more talk time.

Perhaps, at his point I would prefer her to him. But, it is all just a grand game anyway and in the grand scheme of things it probably doesn't really matter who sits in the funny shaped office.

I would definitely prefer her over him, which is why I voted McCain/Palin - even though I wasn't satisfied with the ticket.

And yes, BHO is proving that, regardless of campaign slogans ... change will never happen. Everything is politics as usual ... though this time, with a Chicago twist.

Extremism of either right or left wing creates chaos and would not be good for the country, regardless of what mess BHO creates.

Bush started America towards fascism ... Obama's doing the same with socialism. Both are bad for the country.

I agree, I wasn't terribly fond of GWB, never did vote for him, the only reason I voted republican this go around was because the options made it essential, typically I lean to the constitutionalist/libertarian view.

I agree with you on the balance point. Extremism is bad, on one end you have fascism, on the other communism, in each case you have bloated, intrusive government getting in the way of freedom and just plain doing business.... somewhere in the middle lies the stable republic.

Give me Palin over BHO and his cohorts any day. You should listen to this ridiculous women interviewer on the subject. That's the left-wing ideology, which Palin is NOT a part of. :thumbsup

I'm going to have to agree with Neal Boortz on this one--tasteless joke: YES!!! However, it was aimed at Bristol, not at the 14 year old. Big gaffe on DL's part? Absolutely!

However. Bristol did have sex at 16, and get pregnant. So a joke at her expense is not out of the range of a late-night talk show host. It was just unfortunate that he made a mistake about which daughter was visiting.

To imply that he's some kind of pedophile because he made a joke about the wrong girl is just plain stupid. Being rude is how these guys get laughs. I'm not endorsing the humor, but it was a crass joke--not an indication of DL's personal taste in young girls. (Which it seemed that Palin's FB page tried to imply.)

Palin is justified in being upset with Letterman.

He's an extremely liberal democrat and even if his writers were the culprits I doubt this stuff is a surprise....they rehearse before airing.

Palin is smart AND conservative, a scary thought for the liberals. They have to keep on making her look bad.

*sigh* Why can't we just criticize him over an inappropriate joke?

The pedophile spin is ludicrous and I think everyone with any sense realizes it.

Frankly, the fact that the Palin family is spinning it this way makes me think they want this frenzy of media attention to continue more than anything else.

Letterman: “One awkward moment for Sarah Palin at the Yankee game, during the seventh inning, her daughter was knocked up by Alex Rodriguez.”

Palin was in New York with her 14-year-old daughter, Willow.

Palin: 'Laughter incited by sexually-perverted comments made by a 62-year-old male celebrity aimed at a 14-year-old girl is not only disgusting, but it reminds us some Hollywood/NY entertainers have a long way to go in understanding what the rest of America understands - that acceptance of inappropriate sexual comments about an underage girl, who could be anyone's daughter, contributes to the atrociously high rate of sexual exploitation of minors by older men who use and abuse others.' ”

If you want to overlook the fact that it was an easy and very lame save of Letterman to twist what he said about WHICH daughter Pain took to NY with her, you can. The news was very clear about who she took with her. Letterman is a liar - I don't believe him one bit. And it is not funny for a 62-year old man to say something even about Bristol - WHICH - really and truthfully reflects back to the time she did actually become pregnant - 16 and under age.

I don't view it as a spin on Palin's part one little bit.

Letterman apologizes again for 'bad' Palin joke
But the late-night host insisted that what's got people really riled is the misconception over which Palin daughter the joke was about.

It was "a coarse joke," "a bad joke," Letterman told viewers. "But I never thought it was (about) anybody other than the older daughter, and before the show, I checked to make sure, in fact, that she is of legal age, 18.

http://www.breitbart.com/article.php...cle=1&catnum=0
Before the show he checks to see.....if the oldest daughter is of legal age. No one had a clue, after the news reports, that Willow was the daughter with them? LOL!

Yea, Letterman - WUTEVAH!

For anyone who may be trying to loosen the self imposed noose on Lettermans neck never forget one thong Palin said. And that is during the campaign Obama said "leave my family alone....they are off limits". The great ones wishes were respected (it was a very reasonable request).

Jaxon 06-15-2009 07:54 PM

Re: Palin Furious At Letterman.

It was only respected for the Democratic side. Palins family was trashed during the campaign and has not ceased to this day. That seems top be completely forgotten. Or at laest by those who want to give Letterman a pass on this.

Jaxon 06-15-2009 08:18 PM

Re: Palin Furious At Letterman.

Well, I just noticed that Letterman has issued another statement. Again trying to apologize but defending what he said first then saying it was indefenfensible. He is now saying that he can see what the furor is about because people thought he was referring to the 14 year old and it really was a coarse joke. Adding it was non defensible. But implying that if it was taken as a jab at the 18 year old it would have been different. No No DAVE you still don't get it.

He apologized ... she accepted ... move on. He likely wasn't entirely honest about this joke, however Palin isn't a saint and hasn't been always honest herself.

Time to move on.

I am thinking that when candidate Obama said what he said about family being off limits,he was talking about all family of all the politicians involved in the Presidential campaign.

Besides, his family was definitely NOT off limits and they're still not.

Michelle Obama took a lashing and now one of my fellow Republican Senators from SC called her a gorilla.

Figures that he is from SC-- one of the most ignorant states in the Union.... :(

So NOPE, the Obama family has not been off limits:

wife;
impoverished brother in Kenya;
Grandmother in Kenya;
and his own dead mother were all subjected to crudeness and rudeness.

Letterman apologized, went out of his way to apologize again.

Unless someone can pick up on a pattern of this only happening to Palin, as if she is a victim or something, we should all just get over it.

I guess I'm just not willing to malign DL as some pedophile/pervert. He's not really a shock jock, although, as he said, he does go for "cheap laughs."

It's not like him to make off color jokes about children/minors--I've NEVER heard him do that before.

Bristol is the daughter who has been in the news the most, and I have no problem believing she's the one DL was referring to. It was a crass, tasteless joke. But not much beyond that. Not worth the hysterical rhetoric people have been putting forth.

34 years old vs. 18 = perverted pedophile? I have a 31 year old nephew currently engaged to a 20 year old. I have an uncle who has been happily married to a woman 20 years younger than him for about 25 years. Big age differences don't bother me one iota. Point being, age difference in and of itself doesn't make the concept perverted.

The problem is it was the younger daughter (14) that was actually the one he was referencing since she was the one in NY with her at the Yankee's game.

I think he was CLUELESS which daughter it was - - the writers thought it was a funny reference and he went with it.

I think his apology (toward Willow, the 14 year old) was sincere. I'd like to think that had he really KNOWN it was the younger one that he wouldn't have read the joke.

However, he did......

I looked at the clip in question on Yahoo!
I may not be a Palin supporter but if DL made a remark about my daughters like that, it would take all my HG to restrain me from busting his chops! I could do it too!

Cheap, dirty, & uncalled for regardless of age!
He was wrong for saying it, the crowd was wrong for laughing.

He offered an apology/explanation two nights later, and then a second apology yesterday. (which Palin accepted) :)

As a mother, I understand Palin's reaction, no matter which daughter was being referenced. I'm just not as willing to crucify DL across the board for bad taste, and call the comments something they weren't.
